COVER ART SALE! (only $50)

COVER ART SALE! (only $50)

I am taking down the premades from my site on October 1st so in the hopes of selling as many of them as I can before they go down they are on sale for ONLY $50. Yes, that includes me adding your title and author name along with eye color changes, skin color alterations, etc.

It is on a first come first serve basis and once they are down in October they will not be available again. To order e-mail me at Emma@EmmaMichaels.com describing which of the pieces you are interested in and what you would need done to it (your pen name, title of the novel, type of font if you have a preference) If that piece is still available I should get back to you within 24 hours.

To see the covers stop by:
http://www.emmamichaels.blogspot.com/... or click the tab at the top of the blog.
(If the tab doesn't load, let me know or you can wait a few moments and try again, it has been a bit finicky as of late.)

Any help spreading the word is appreciated! I would love to see some of these sell before I take a break from premades and commissions that aren't for my normal publishers or previous customers! This October I want to be able to concentrate on my release for Owlet and writing the rest of the trilogy along with a few other amazing projects I have going on. Thank you so much to all of my amazing readers and all of the authors and publisher I have gotten to work with! Doing the covers has been a blast and while I am in no way quitting I will be limiting my clientele from October 1st on.

Of course, this will not effect the blog other than that the tab will be going down and I won't be doing premade posts. I was a book blogger even before I started writing and that will never change.
Sincerely,
Emma Michaels

New Premade Cover!

New premade cover added to the 'covers for sale' tab!$75 for this piece and implementing title/text/effects. <3$150 to have it turned into a paperback cover (plus text/effects/etc.)

I had a lot of fun working on this one last night. I was watching this great new version of Peter Pan from Europe that had a really interesting twist on the series of events and back stories and found myself inspired. So while I was supposed to be taking a break after working on covers most of the day I did another one instead :-pWhat do you think? Do you want to take a trip to Neverland?
I was asked it my images can be posted on Facebook, Pinterest or other online location. While I would ask that you respect that I leave my images on my website un-watermarked so that they can be viewed as they would be used - here is a version of this piece that has the text added so that it can be pinned or shared. <3
Thank you as always to all my readers!

My thoughts on Dehumanized

My thoughts on Dehumanized by Michael Loring
I loved Dehumanized! This novel is so UNIQUE! It was well written, brilliantly paced and has fantastic character development (which is always a HUGE plus with me, I love a good character story arc). If I HAD to draw a comparison I would say it stayed close enough to the traditional werewolf to keep fans of the ‘Wolfman’ types of fiction happy but modern enough to draw more of a comparison to the hit tv show ‘Being Human’ or ‘True Blood’ (if True Blood had been appropriate for a larger variety of audiences and you added in a hint if science). But what really catches your attention are the ways that this series isn’t like ANY other werewolf series out there. It is a breath of fresh air and has everything I love in a novel. While it is classified as Adult Fiction I think that most age groups could relate. Ryan being 18 really puts him on that cusp between young adult and adult.

It has dystopian elements to it, science fiction elements and fantasy with a nice side of the heart pumping action you can find in some of the best thrillers. I am going through a serious dystopia phase with my purchases so my favorite elements were the unique twists on the future if lycanthropy were to go viral.

Overall, phenomenal debut for Michael Loring. Great characters, great overall plot and a must read for all paranormal, dystopian or werewolf lovers. I am definitely a fan and will be keeping an eye on all of his future releases. I can hardly wait to see what will happen next!!!

Check it out here!

Sincerely,
Emma Michaels

Dehumanized release!

 Now LIVE on Amazon!
Ryan Zachery lived his life the way all high school teenagers should - carefree until he was attacked by an unknown assailer and awoke in the hospital with lycanthropy. Taken by armed guards and dragged away from everything he held dear, Ryan was thrown into a US camp made for those 'suffering' from lycanthropy.
They caged the beast, but now he will show them that he will never be dehumanized.

Cover Art Extravaganza - Interview with Frankie Rose

Sovereign Hope
by Frankie Rose  Interview with the author

Just for fun, What is the worst possible cover concept you could imagine for your novel?

Oooh. Worst concept... Well, I think it would be pretty terrible if my main characters were half naked for a start. A ripped dude is all well and good, but not totally shirtless, fake tanned and lubed up. Kinda grosses me out. On top of that, I think it would be pretty crappy to have something generic or trend-following. I know a lot of books out there at the moment at very much in the same vein, regardless of whether it's relevant to the book. I wouldn't have Farley hanging out on the cover riding a white stallion just because it looked pretty.

What do you feel is the scene in your novel with the most imagery?

There are two scenes I'd like to think were pretty equal on the imagery front. The first would be when Farley and Daniel travel to see Aldan and they find themselves in a completely different setting to the rest of the book. There's a lot of darkness in Sovereign Hope, so it's kind of neat when they go somewhere that's beautiful and open. Also, I think the scene where they return to where Daniel originally comes from is pretty cool. I don't want to give anything away with that, so I'll just say that that scene was really fun to write, because it was a completely alien environment for Farley, and there was no way she would have ever imagined getting to go there.

Did you have any cover art or publishing fears? Which fear was worst?

I had tons. I was up nights worrying about both in all honesty. The publishing fear was/is worse, I think, because that is totally out of my control. There are so many variables, so many things to worry about. I can only do so much with regards to making wise decisions for marketing, publicising, editing etc, but then beyond that a lot of it is down to the personal taste of the reader, too. You can't please everybody. You can only aim to please most of them.

It's easier with a cover, because once you've made a decision to go with an artist (having made sure they're awesome first off!) then you can discuss what you envisage and work together until they've created something that really reflects the tone and feeling of the book.

Out of the books on your shelf or your wish list which has your favorite cover?

I have to say I love the covers for Holly Black's Curse Workers series. All three of them are pretty cool!

Last but not least, after going through the cover art process yourself from the author's point of view, what would you suggest to other authors who are facing their own cover art process or facing their own publishing fears?

Know what you want! This will make both processes much easier for you. If you really reflect on the mood of the book and are able to describe that in fine detail to a cover artist, it's going to enable them to go away and produce something that's going to blow your mind.

With the publishing side of things, know what your expectations are before making any decisions. Know what all of your options entail before considering them in depth. Give yourself the best opportunity to make informed, and therefore wise decisions.

Sovereign HopeBy Frankie Rose

The Story Behind the Cover

Sovereign Hope is just my kind of young adult novel. So while reading it I was so thrilled to be hired for the cover that I invited Frankie Rose to The Writers Voice where she is now one of our team members!
Sovereign Hope is one of the more unique young adult novels I have read lately and I absolutely loved it. I can hardly wait for book two to come out. We went through a few concepts and along with the help of the amazing Chelsea Starling ended up with the beautiful final cover!
It is coming out July 1st, only three days away!
Stop by tomorrow to hear more from Frankie Rose or head to her blog to join in on Operation Find Daniel where you get a say in who will be on the cover of book two!
