A NEW RELEASE! My Banished Highlander is here!

Release Day is here for My Banished Highlander, my second book in the Highland Games Through Time series! Book #1 has done so well that I spent all summer polishing this book so I could release it before I headed to the New Hampshire Highland Games this month. That, and other similar Scottish festivals, gave me the idea to set my time travel romances among volunteers and athletes who attend these games. The majority of the story takes place in dark and dangerous 16th century Scotland, but my present-day scenes are lively, fun, and sexy. This book follows the story that began in My Honorable Highlander, which is available in ebook and print.
Would you like to know more about the story? With a letter in her hand and a Highlander at her back, what could go wrong?
When his clan convicts Cameron Robeson of treason in 1598 Scotland, the last thing he thought his cousin the Laird would do was banish him to the future. With a certain woman on his mind, he plans revenge while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the modern day New England Highland Games. His plans go awry when a comely redheaded lass wearing the Mackenzie plaid lands at his feet.
Iona Mackenzie is worried about her friend, Haven, and searches for answers among the tents at the games. Whom can she trust to help? Her father? The handsome blacksmith? Or, the tall, golden-haired Highlander? Romance takes a back seat because saving her friend is her priority, no matter how great Cameron can kiss.
When a magical amulet and an angry sorcerer send this unlikely couple back through time, more than one heart will be broken. Danger, intrigue, and threats surround them, and feelings between Iona and Cameron grow hot and steamy. They fight the sorcerer and search for Iona’s friend, the woman he vowed to steal from his cousin. Will the strong-willed Highlander and the present day witch stop fighting long enough to listen to their hearts?

POSITIVE QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Hurricane Isaac is battering the southern United States. Here in North Carolina, we are expecting its rains within the next few days. Everything turns lush and green, and the skies will eventually return to blue. Reminds me of this quote...

Sounds, Sights, & Smells of the Scottish Games

I was reading my local newspaper the other day and a back page article caught my eye. Seems a local girl, Waverly Noble from Raleigh (NC), has spent half her eleven years learning to dance in the Scottish tradition.
It got me to thinking about the Scottish Highland Games and festivals that pop up around the area. I wish I could attend them all, but time and money seem to factor in when deciding where to go and what to see.

Highland dance, with the young women in beautiful kilts and socks, their hair in tight buns, and their hands on their hips, is a sight to behold. I raised two boys, so watching the girls perform is always a treat without the worry. Being a soccer mom was easier.
Have you ever attended a Scottish festival? If not, then you have missed out on the sounds, sights, and smells.
Sounds such as a lonely bagpiper performing before a competition judgeThe sound of many marching bands as they march together playing Amazing GraceThe happy sounds of kids petting sheep or a Highland cowThe sight of muscular brutes tossing a telephone pole (the caber) end over endwalking through a historical village and seeing how the Scottish lived long agoSeeing men of all sizes and ages strutting about in their Scottish finery. Yum!The smell of HaggisThe delicious smell of baking meat pies sheep

IS THERE ANYTHING HOTTER THAN FIREFIGHTERS?
You might ask why summer? Well, the summer months are usually the best time to enjoy the out-of-doors, and all that nature can provide. My book is set in a small college town nestled along a river, surrounded by the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Small towns are filled with interesting characters, but I throw rescues, romance, and suspense at them. See who gets who in the end!
Check out this EXCERPT:
Her scent, intoxicating as fresh–cut flowers in spring, filled his nostrils and made his head spin with the sudden sweetness. The pale skin of her neck beckoned him, the pulse just beneath the surface beating fast and strong. Her lips parted in response to his gaze. With an urge so strong his knees weakened, he kissed the gentle slope below her chin then slid up and captured both lips. The kiss deepened, spurred on by a force screaming at him to take everything. She tasted sweet and spicy, of sugar and bitter coffee. He sucked her tongue and groaned with the pleasure of her particular taste. This isn’t right. Some mysterious voice screamed in his head, but he ignored the warning. His hands roamed to her back before sliding lower. Each fingertip tingled with intense pleasure. Lower, still, his hands cupped her strong buttocks. One hand slid up to nestle against the nape of her neck. Her body squirmed, moving in increasing velocity to connect with his stomach, thighs, and groin.“Easy, sweetheart, or this will be over before it’s begun.” Locked in his embrace, she kissed him in response. Agony, like a punch to the gut, made him realize whom he kissed. His partner.

I would love you to consider reading my ebook LOVE TO THE RESCUE available from Red Rose Publishing and Barnes and Noble
