Serenity's Dream - Lucien and Serenity at ARe

The new expanded, rewritten version of Serenity's Dream - Lucien and Serenity, is now available at All Romance Ebooks.

The older version made the top five in the Historical Regency category for several weeks. With more story and better editing, I see no reason why we can't do that again. :)

Enjoy the expansion.

Blurb for Tarnished Gold

My novel set in old Hollywood is a shiny new blurb. Very pleased indeed. Cover will come soon.

In 1915, starstruck Jack Abadie strikes out for the gilded streets of the most sinful town in the country—Hollywood. With him, he takes a secret that his country hometown would never understand.

After years of hard work and a chance invitation to a gay gentlemen's club, Jack is discovered. Soon, his talent, matinee idol good looks, and affable personality propel him to the height of stardom. But fame breeds distrust.

[image error]Meeting Wyatt Maitland turns Jack’s life upside down. He wants to be worthy of his good fortune, but old demons haunt him. Only through Wyatt's strength can Jack face that which keeps him from being the man he wants to be. Love without trust is empty.

As the 1920s roar, scandals rock the movie industry. Public tolerance of Hollywood's decadence has reached its limit. Under pressure to clean up its act, Jack’s studio issues an ultimatum. Either forsake the man he loves and remain a box office darling, or follow his heart and let his shining star fade to tarnished gold.

Tarnished Gold Release Date

Received the news that my novel set in old Hollywood will be released at Dreamspinner Press on March 25.

I've finished the second round of edits and I'm feeling really good about the story. I eliminated a secondary character, which I would have never done if my editor hadn't asked me, "Is he really necessary?" and in doing so, strengthen another character significantly. Win-win! In do the elimination, many of the things I was iffy about went away.

So now is the wait for the cover. Can't wait to see what Anne Cain does with it. I hope she likes my idea. :)

My new guest blogger post at The Novel Approach

On February 11, I begin something new and exciting. My friend, Lisa Horan, invited me to be a permanent guest blogger on her site, The Novel Approach. Today, she announced that, and tomorrow, my post on doing research in preparation for writing, will appear on her wonderful blog. Click here is the link for the announcement.

Many people know Lisa from Top 2 Bottom Reviews and that is where I got to know her and Michelle Montgomery. The three of us met at Gay Rom Lit and have become good friends. I am honored to contribute to The Novel Approach, which is a wonderful review site, as well as a place for readers to meet and get to know authors, and vice versa.

I hope you'll join me on February 11, and every month, for some fun. I might do a review or writing a post on something to do with writing, publishing, or reading. I have some ideas in mind.

Join me too on my blog tour to celebrate the re-release of Serenity's Dream. I hope to meet lots of new readers out there.

Hugs,

Brita

New & Improved Serenity's Dream is now available

Today is release day for the new version of Serenity's Dream. I have long wanted to give it a good scrub, get rid of the passive voice and filters, and put some more meat on the bones. It is done and I am pleased with the result.

Serenity was my debut novel and I was pleased that it got published. However, as I've grown in writing, I saw flaws that I wanted to fix.

The character of Haynes begged for his own story, but it took until now to flesh it out. I had it in mind, but wasn't sure how to implement it. Eventually, I chucked the idea because no matter how I thought about it, it didn't work. What great insight we get as time passes. Now he has a story within Serenity's Dream.

Serenity and Lucien also have a backstory that is sweeping in its telling of what became of their marriage, etc.

In the rewriting of each of the Sapphire Club books, I listened to reader critiques, as well as reviewers. With Serenity's Dream, I felt that much wasn't explained. It is now. In Lord Decadent's Obsession, I truly thought that everyone would fall in love with Prentice Hyde, and that didn't happen. They just might now.

Each of those two books has an additional thirteen thousand words. Lots more story!

Chocolate, Tea, and the Duchess has undergone the most drastic changes. So much so, I've retitled it, Thornhill's Dilemma. The story is almost completely changed. Readers wanted Alexander Chilton to enter the picture much earlier and now he does. I've taken some risks in that book that I hope will meet with reader approval.

I am on the Noble Romance author blog all day today, with little tidbits about my books, excerpts, and an article I wrote about book covers.

I have my likes and dislikes on covers and I make them known. Check it out and tell me what you think about them. Do you get embarrassed by books that you read? I certainly do it the cover goes too far.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hugs,

Brita
