“You grab the cushions,” Logan called over the noise of the flapping shrubbery. “I’ll anchor down the parasol.”
Unlocking the door to the living area, I grabbed three pillows and chucked them inside. I went back for the other three then tumbled in, half shutting the door behind myself. My hair was wild, my cheeks stung and my heart pounded as I caught my breath.
I watched Logan close the umbrella and secure the pole into place. He glanced around, shading his eyes with his hand, checking for anything else that might blow away, then headed my way with a train of dry, flat leaves skittering past his feet. I opened the door wide to let him through. He stepped in, still squinting against the dust, as I pushed the door shut with a loud click. The world went silent. After the howling wind and the roaring sea, the quiet of the house was acute and heavy and fell around us like a dense cloak.
Leaning back against the door, I pulled in a deep breath. “Made it,” I gasped.
“Yeah,” he said, stepping up close—real close.
When I looked up, his cheeks were stained red, several grains of sand hung in his long lashes and his hair was tousled and dusted with gold. “Is that everything tied down?” I asked, trying to ignore my breasts heaving against my halter-top.
“Well, almost everything,” he said with a decidedly carnal grin. 
I swallowed and flattened my palms against the cool glass door behind me. “What else do you need to tie down?”
The right side of his mouth creased upward and his brows gave the tiniest of twitches. “I’d quite like to tie you down,” he said, his gaze coming to rest on my mouth. “To the bed.”
Licking my lips, I tasted salt. My stomach knotted as excitement, anticipation and sin collided in a delicious tangle.
“But I guess that’s moving a bit fast,” he murmured, bending his head lower. “We only just met.”
“A bit fast for me,” I agreed, absorbing the burning heat from his body as it radiated against mine.
“Brooke.” He raised one hand and rested it against the wooden doorframe by my left ear. His body moved in closer still. The gorgeous spiced aftershave he wore invaded my nostrils and settled not just on my tongue but somewhere else deep inside me. “Do you remember when you walked out of the water yesterday?” he asked in a low, rumbling voice.
“Yes.” How could I forget the toe-curling embarrassment? He’d stared silently toward me as I’d ambled up the beach, trying desperately to look cool and unflustered. I felt my cheeks warming further at the memory as my stomach twisted.
“It was a million times better than any Bond movie.”
“It was?”
“Hell, yeah. If they had you as a Bond girl it would be my favorite film by miles. Not just 007, but in general, any film ever.” His mouth slid upward in a grin. “You just about blew my mind.”
“I did?” My eyes widened in surprise. He’d liked what he’d seen, and I thought he’d been unimpressed with my curvy attributes.
“Oh, yeah, and other parts of my anatomy.”
He ducked his head, his lips a whisper from mine. I could almost taste the salt on his mouth.
“Well, we wouldn’t want that would we, Logan?” I murmured. “Wouldn’t we?” His brows raised.
“Sounds painful.” I swallowed, my throat felt tight.
“It’s already getting painful.” He shifted his weight to the other foot. We were so close now my breast brushed against his chest and my nipples, which had tightened to hard pinched peaks, scraped against him.
I reached up to touch his jaw, his bristles catching on my fingertips. Our gazes connected and I rose onto the balls of my feet and pressed my mouth to his.
He opened up and took immediate control of the kiss. He tasted so good—man and ocean, wind and sun—he tasted of everything I was missing in my life and had been for so long. My hands moved to his shoulders and squeezed hard muscles through his soft cotton shirt. The tip of his tongue probed farther into my mouth, shooting desire into every fiber I possessed. My tongue searched for his and began to explore his mouth.
Logan groaned and let go of the doorframe, cradling the base of my skull in his palm and winding his other arm around my waist. He pulled me close and as the length of our bodies touched, right in the very center of my abdomen, he pressed his steely erection forward. He was right, he was painfully hard.

I adore this time of year when the days are cold and the nights are hot. I like to cook, shop, spend time with friends and of course have a little tipple or two, non more so than when I'm in my kitchen baking. (Keep reading to find my cookie recipe!)

I adore the kitchen and often put a tree up in the corner as I spend so much time fiddling about with different recipes and chatting to family and friends. I'm very fortunate as I live in a rural part of Britain and it is often picture perfect.

I frequently set my novels in England and one that springs to mind and is perfect for Christmas is Cold Nights, Hot Bodies. I really enjoyed sending my characters to the beautiful Cotswolds and having them snowed in at a luxury hotel. They had to find something to do to fill the time didn't they and phew, I could certainly find something to keep myself busy if I had him to keep me company!


The Cotswolds is of course stunning in the summer too and my novel The Glass Knot is also set here. This book is m/m/f and the tangles that Laura finds herself in with married couple Josh and Nick seems to have really hit the spot with readers - you can read the reviews on Amazon - but more than that I loved the realness of writing this. Imagining a stunning cottage nestled in a twee village, all perfectly decorated, money no object and then this complex relationship filling its old stone walls. The kitchen, as it happens, is a place where many exchanges take place both verabally and physically and they're all layered with tension and meaning.

Of course a large island is essential in The Glass Knot kitchen, not just for cooking on but also for... you get my drift!

And, if you too feel like spending some time in the kitchen here is my favourite cookie recipe. It's a good base for adding whatever extras you happen to have in the store cupboard if you don't have macadamia nuts - sweets/chocolate of any variety/other nuts/honeycomb - and I've been using it for years.
Choc Chip and Macadamia Cookies
75g Butter75g Castor Sugar75g Light Brown Sugar1tsp Vanilla Essence1 Egg - Beaten175g Self-Raising FlourPinch of Salt - if desired125g Choc Drops75g Macadamia Nuts - roughly chopped
1. Cream butter until soft. Beat in the sugars and vanilla essence until evenly blended. Add the egg and mix well.
2. Sift in the flour and salt. Fold carefully into the butter and sugar mixture.
3. Add chocolate drops and nuts and mix well.
4. Roll the mixture into balls the size of marbles. Place on greased tray leaving space for spreading and flatten lightly with a fork.
5. Bake at 180C (350F) mark 4 for about 10 minutes or until pale golden in colour. They will still be springy at the centre and that gives them a lovely softness when cooled. Enjoy!

New Review for The Novice

Natalie and I are thrilled to have another amazing review for The Novice (previously titled The Virgin) and we're particularly pleased that this reader really understood what we were doing with our characters.
Here you go, this is from Why I Can't Stop Reading.

This is not your typical girl meets boy in coffee bar, girl and boy fall in love kind of story. This is more the type of book where Girl meets Boy in coffee shop. Boy falls in lust and takes Girl home. Girl shocks the crap out of Boy by being a complete Domme. Girl continues to shock Boy, and herself in the process.
This was FANTASTIC. Let me say that again. Fantastic. Did you get it? So (as the cover tells us) is way steamier than Fifty Shades and oh so delectably delightful. Honestly… If you loved fifty shades but wished that it was just that little bit darker and dirtier – this is the book for you. Zara one of the most fantastic MC’s I have come across and Victor is not so bad himself. Normally I am not a fan of the Domme – sub relationship. I like my men strong and full of power… this was SO not the case.
Victor is used to being in control. Managing partner of his own architectural firm he manages a bunch of people and is faced with tough decisions every day. He likes his woman meek and eager ( but not too much mind) and thinks he knows everything. Not only is he shocked to find that the timid young lady he picked up is a Domme but that he is also incredibly intrigued by the life she opens up his eyes too. Can he let go of enough of his control to really appreciate everything that Zara can show him or is it going to be to tough to let go of that amount of control and show that much trust to someone else?
Zara on the other hand is used to this kind of thing. She makes her living off of it and loves what she does. She is used to showing men that they don’t in fact know everything and she was really looking forward to doing the same with Victor. She wasn’t so prepared for the feeling she brought up in her.
Plot twists, fun supporting characters, amazing scene settings and a lot of red hot passion. This book has it all. I was on edge through out the entire book and cannot wait to get my hands on the next one.
