Break Me In by Sara Brookes plus Giveaway!
Please join me in welcoming Sara Brookes to my blog today with her new release Break Me In. Take it away Sara…
Thanks Lily.
When I first told another author friend of mine that I was going to write a hero who was an alcoholic, I thought she was going to pitch over out of her seat. Even my husband asked why I would write a story about someone who had such a severe problem, especially in an erotic romance.
And so Break Me In was born.
To me, it was a perfect opportunity to take someone who was settled down deep into his problems and give him a fabulous new life he could be proud to live. I first introduced Alex to readers in the first book of the series, Taking Over Me. He and his wife had just recently split and, needless to say, he was dealing with some real problems. It wasn’t until I started writing Break Me In, the third book of the series, that I realized just how deep Alex’s problems went. But as I started digging and digging, I discovered something so wonderful, I knew I was on the right path.
Break Me In is the ultimate story of love, lust and redemption.
Excerpt:
Inching closer to the wide panoramic window, she spotted the man in question behind the counter. He tapped the excess grounds out into a bin and absently dropped the filter basket into the sink full of soapy water. Turning back, he poured the dark liquid into a demitasse cup and leaned against the counter as he sipped.
His face reflected a look of surprise. He was obviously pleased with whatever mixture he’d come up with. Satisfied, he downed the rest of the contents and spun to wash the cup. It was then she noticed a slight sway in his hips.
If she listened carefully enough she heard the beat of U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday.
Curious, she stepped forward and pressed her hands against the glass. He moved effortlessly to the beat, perfectly in sync with the rhythm of the song. His head bopped, his lips moving as he sang the words.
The man couldn’t carry a tune to save his life.
Never stopped him from having a little fun with it. In high school they’d frequented quite a few karaoke establishments. But late in their sophomore year of college he said he didn’t have time for their outings anymore. There were a lot of things he’d turned a cold shoulder to for reasons only he knew. If her suspicions were correct the reason had Vivian’s name tattooed all over it in fat, black permanent marker.
The muted sound of glass breaking caught her attention. A cold knot of dismay formed in her stomach as she watched Alex rinse out beer bottle after beer bottle before discarding each into the recycle bin just a few feet away. She counted at least eight before her disgust forced her to stop keeping score.
Oh Alex, what are you doing to yourself?
Blurb:
Elena avoids relationships by using her flogger as a shield. Alex is struggling with substance abuse and Elena will do nearly anything to help him conquer his demons, even risk losing him forever. When he comes home, whole and healthy, he raises the stakes by requesting their friendship turn to a D/s bond. His submission will change their dynamic forever. She convinces herself it’s just sex. Love and desire aren’t part of the equation.
Under Elena’s reverent command, Alex finds a comfort he’s always yearned for. He’s happier than ever as he spends his days slinging coffee and his nights bound and collared. Submitting to Elena exposes more than his strengths—it reveals a powerful attraction. Most of all, it uncovers their passionate love. He’s ready to convince her there’s no reason to mask her feelings, but his efforts are derailed when his toxic past resurfaces to annihilate their future.
Warning: A hunky, tortured barista. A seductive, stubborn Domme. Desire that can’t be tamed by cuffs, ropes and chains. And angst. So much drama and angst, John Hughes would be proud. Being bad never felt so good.

Sports Romance Blog Hop
Welcome to the Sports Romance Blog Hop and a HUGE thanks to Cassandra Carr for sponsoring the hop!
Most people who are familiar with my writing will be aware that I have a real soft spot for sexy athletes. What with my Hot Ice series, Scored and Grand Slam I've covered hockey, football (soccer to you US folk) and tennis!
But what is it about sporty guys that gets us girls (and boys) going? Is it those short shorts and tight tops that show off all their roped muscles and golden flesh. Mmm…
To an extent, yes, but it’s more than that, really it is (see we're not that shallow!). To be the best-of-the-best these athletes are loaded with testosterone (I’m talking the natural stuff, nothing injected) and that makes them a wonderful treat for every sense. Plus they posses such supreme fitness and awe-inspiring stamina that it’s impossible not to think of their blessedly buff bodies between the sheets.
However, for me, as an author, it the athletes psych that really grabs my attention? Their unwavering competitive streak, single-minded focus and the thought of ‘if they’re that obsessed with being the best, of winning and scoring, when their on the pitch, the stadium or the rink what the hell would they be like in bed?’ ‘Off the chart amazing,’ my inner voice shouts. ‘You’ll feel like you’ve won the damn Olympic gold medal in ecstasy’.
Talking of Olympics I’m looking forward to the action from Russia, non more so than the ice hockey. My latest release, out last week at Ellora's Cave is Misconduct, the 6th book following the Vipers hockey team and the women who tame them - also perfect as a standalone read.
I’ll confess I’ve never had wild, swing-from-the-chandelier-sex with a professional sportsman, but I do have a pretty damn vivid imagination! I live in the UK and our most famous sporting export of recent years is of course the delectable David Beckham!
And it was his modelling for Armani that gave me the idea for High-Sticked, the m/m novel in my Hot Ice series.
But we have a few other hotties in the UK which I thought I’d share. Why not? It’s cold outside and we have to keep warm somehow! This is boxer Joe Calzaghie, he’s Welsh (YAY!).
He is seriously hot and a seriously nice guy too. I was lucky enough to meet him once – swoon! – and I had to be picked up off the floor when my knees gave way. His voice is all deep and lilting, one side of his mouth twitches when he smiles and his eyes sparkle with a confident naughtiness. He’s like a great big vat of sin which would be so heavenly to jump into! Damn – missed my opportunity by becoming a boneless heap!
I should also mention Johnny Wilkinson, this guy scored the winning point for England in the Rugby World Cup Final despite having dislocated his shoulder minutes earlier in an evil tackle – ouch!! Now that is man on a mission, a man with unwavering self-control. Can you imagine…?
Of course there are supremely gorgeous and talented sportsmen the world over both in reality and in authors' imaginations. And as long as readers keep enjoying sexy athletes in books then I’ll keep on writing about them. If you leave a comment here telling me what your favourite sport is I'll give away a copy of Hired (book #1 Hot Ice) to one commentor drawn at random - please leave your email address.

Sunday Snog - Misconduct

OUT NOW - MISCONDUCT

Finally, the 6th Hot Ice book, Misconduct, has hit the shelves (all Hot Ice novels are fine as standalone reads). I loved writing this book, the Vipers goaltender was hot to handle for me as an author so my heroine Gina really did have her work cut out with him - just as well she's his new boss!
So here it is, a steamy snog between Dustin 'Speed' Reed and Gina Gunner…

“Dustin, no, we can’t do this. Not here, not now.”He licked his lips, leaving a wet sheen there that captured my attention. “We can. Come on, what do you want?”I shook my head, licked my own lips. I couldn’t bring myself to say it. But the truth was I didn’t want him at all because the team couldn’t afford him. Not on his current exorbitant salary anyway. God knows what my father had been thinking when he’d agreed to that. He must have been on the whiskey or something.I looked out to sea, watched a lone gull swoop across the surface of a crashing wave.“Tell me,” he said again, pulling me closer still. My breasts came into contact with his chest. A dart of longing went through me like it had in New York when he’d kissed me. How did he do that, when he was so damn furious with me it just made me want to get closer to him, physically that was. Sense told me I should run, get the hell away, but I couldn’t. I didn’t want to.“This won’t work,” I said.“Why not?’“Because I…I don’t want you.” I pressed my hands on his dense pectoral muscles, stared up at him.“Why not?”“The state I’ve inherited the team in is…” I stopped myself. I really couldn’t go into all the financial details with a player. That wasn’t fair, nor ethical. Not when I hadn’t had a chance to hash it out with Dad yet.“The state you’ve inherited the team in?” He spoke with a guttural quality to his voice, as though he’d mixed gravel with the words.“I can’t discuss it. You’ll just have to accept the decision.”His nostrils flared and his lips flattened. “You mean that, don’t you? You really don’t have any intention of renewing my contract.” He paused. “Shit.”God, I hated to see pain in his eyes. He clearly loved playing for the Vipers. And who could blame him? It was every hockey players’ dream come true.I slipped my hands higher onto the base of his neck and rubbed the taut tendons there with my thumbs. “I wish I did want you,” I whispered.Oh, what a lie. Because I did, just not for the team. His body, pressing against mine, the smell of his slightly malty breath and the way he was eating me up with his gaze. It all made me want him very much. In my bed.Suddenly he snapped me tight against him, wrapped his arms around my waist and set me flush against his body.“And I wish I didn’t fucking want you,” he said, his jaw tightening, the syllables seeming to struggle to get out from between his gritted teeth. He wished he didn’t want me? Those words ping-ponged around my mind. What did he mean? That he did want me, the way I wanted him, even though it made no sense?I went up on my toes and cradled the back of his head. I stared into his eyes, looking for answers. His pupils were wide despite the sunshine, and desire flamed within them. Yes, I’d been right, he did want me, exactly the same way I had to have him. Now.I kissed him. With the same furious passion he’d inflicted on me in the hotel. For a horrendous moment I thought I’d made a God almighty mistake—his lips were still, his tongue flat. But then he melted, opened up and let me in.He groaned, dipped his tongue into my mouth and slid his hand up my back to my hair, bunching his fingers in my casual updo.Like before, his kiss transported me to a wild place where anything could happen. I writhed against him and was aware of his cock hardening against my stomach. It thrilled me that he was turned-on by me. Big, tough Dustin was hot for a bit of action with little old me. Bring it on.“Fuck,” he muttered against my lips.“Okay,” I gasped.

More details about all the Hot Ice books on my website. Misconduct available from all good ebook retailers including the publisher Ellora's Cave and Amazon/Amazon UK.

Weekend Writing Warriors #WeWrWa - Misconduct by Lily Harlem (NEW HOT ICE RELEASE)

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, here's 8 from my latest Hot Ice release, Misconduct. Gina, the new owner of the Vipers, is giving the team a pre-game pep talk in the locker room, but it's not going quite how she planned…
“Keep your eye on the game, right.”
“As opposed to keeping my eye on what?” Dustin asked, gnawing at his gum. He grinned slow and lazy, and dipped his gaze down my body, lingering on my breasts, the flare of my hips, my wickedly high stilettos.
The barefaced nerve of him! Didn’t he get that I was paying his wages now? I wasn’t some rink bunny here for him to ogle.
“Are you gonna be out there?” he asked, shifting some of the enormous padding in his groin area.
I tilted my chin. “Of course.”
He grinned, showing his teeth, the right incisor was chipped. “Then I’m gonna have a hard time keeping my eye on the puck, sweet cheeks.”
Sweet cheeks!

Back to the warriors.

Misconduct, book #6 in my Hot Ice series is out today from Ellora's Cave - please note these books do not need to be read in order to be enjoyed and are perfect as standalone reads.
Blurb
Manage the Vipers hockey team! Me? It seemed that was my role now. Shame a gorgeous, cocky-assed goaltender was testing my patience. Sweet cheeks, really, is that anyway to refer to your boss? Dustin “Speed” Reed certainly thought so.
It was okay, though, my billionaire father owned a paradise retreat for me to escape to, except, that is, until Dustin decided to jump on for the ride. Then the tension really heated up, hotter than the scorching midday sun.
I wanted to slap him and kiss him. Push him away and rip off his clothes. The feeling was mutual, anger a potent emotion when mixed with lust. I knew we shouldn’t. How could it end well? Especially when I was going give him the sack as soon as I pushed him out of it?
But where is the fun in having rules if no one ever breaks them? I for one, decided to take what I could, give what he wanted and worry about balancing the books tomorrow. My heart would be fine, wouldn’t it?

Joy Ride Review

Fabulous new review for Joy Ride from Erotica For All!
Joy Ride is one of the books in the multi-author Spice Rack series from Ellora’s Cave. The Spice Rack is a sex toy with a twist – you open one of the pots of “spice” and inside is a piece of paper with a suggestion to spice up your sex life.
Joy Ride, by Lily Harlem, is the story of Kimberly and her husband, Nate. They’ve been married a while and have a young daughter, so they find quality alone time a struggle, and often resort to sex with the lights off, muffling their sounds in the duvet and pillows.
Deciding to act, Kimberly opens one of the jars and finds the instruction “love on the move.” Confused at first, Kimberly is disappointed with the spice rack and resolves to open a hotter one next time. But when the couple drop their daughter off with her grandparents for the weekend, an idea pops into Kimberly’s head, and she has to act on it, there and then. Naturally, Nate’s delighted, but the policeman that pulls them over is much less impressed. They’re arrested and thrown into the back of the policeman’s van to be transported to the station. The couple panic, wondering how the hell they’re going to explain this to whoever has to come and bail them out – and where they’re going to get the money to pay them back.
But it seems Nate’s libido has been well and truly awoken, and once again they engage in a very risky, yet sexy act. Can they get away with it this time, or are they just adding further misdemeanours to their rap sheet?
Joy Ride was a quick yet fun read. I loved the dynamic between the married couple who are still crazy for each other and prove it in spectacular style. This is a sensual, sexy book with delicious scenes of risky sex, written in Lily’s usual engaging, brilliant style.
Joy Ride can be bought individually…

When word gets out about the Spice Rack, a new adult novelty item that’s guaranteed to spice up your love life, retailers an barely keep them on the shelves. Each jar holds a suggestion on how to add some zip in the bedroom. Or the kitchen. Or wherever passion strikes. Couples everywhere clamor to get their hands on a rack and see what happens. Whether they try one jar or try them all, one thing’s for sure – with the Spice Rack around, sex will never be bland again.

Book One Decadence by Karen Stivali
In eight years of marriage, Eric Carlson has never forgotten to kiss his wife Jessica goodbye—until this morning. As Jessica runs her errands, all she can think about is the missing kiss. When Eric calls to tell her he thinks he left the toaster oven on, she rushes home, annoyed and afraid their house may be burning down. Instead of smoke and flames she finds Eric, looking hot and sexy as hell as he prepares fresh waffles.
Eric knows he and Jessica have been drifting apart. He’s bought the hot new product everyone’s talking about—the Spice Rack, guaranteed to spice up your love life. The jar he opens advises them to “Spend a decadent day indulging all your senses.” With the whole day ahead of them, a fridge full of tempting treats and the house to themselves for a change, that’s exactly what Eric intends to do—in the kitchen, on the washing machine, wherever the mood strikes. And Jessica’s got a super-steamy surprise for him too.
Book Two Love Plus One by Karen Booth
Olivia and Brian once had a sex life worth bragging about, but after nine years of marriage, the sizzle has fizzled. Longing to reclaim their passionate past, Olivia purchases The Spice Rack, an adult novelty item “guaranteed to spice up your love life”. A zealous first round of play prompts Brian to read their cue for next time—share your deepest fantasy and ask your partner to fulfill it.
Brian whisks Olivia off to Manhattan to pursue the fantasy he’s never revealed—another man pleasuring her while he watches. Olivia never imagined her husband was concocting this scenario in his handsome head, nor that he’d choose Michael, their smoking-hot college friend, to help him out. Venturing into uncharted waters, Brian must contend with a heady mix of jealousy and arousal while Olivia surrenders to a man who’s fired up to have his chance with her. When three becomes two again, Brian’s only desire is to reclaim his stake on his wife, and Olivia can’t wait to give him everything that’s his.
Book Three Joy Ride by Lily Harlem
Kimberly is desperate—muffling gasps of pleasure under the covers is just not doing it for her. She loves and desires her husband, but she needs more.
Could the Spice Rack picked up at a girly, wine-infused party be the solution? Anticipation floods her body as she opens the first “task”. What the…? How is “love on the move” going to spice up her sex life? It’s impossible, or so she thinks, because when a sudden sinful idea pops into her head she has to act, much to Nate’s delight.
Until they’re spotted, pulled over, hauled out and cuffed, and not in fluffy pink. They’re in for it, but the glint in Nate’s eye tells Kimberly he’s finally got her exactly where he wants her. It might feel like hell, but before she knows it she’s catapulted to a heavenly place she’s been longing to revisit. As long as they can get away with it.

Sunday Snog

Phew, the weeks fly by and already it's time for another Sunday Snog. Tomorrow the Spice Rack Bundle hits the shelves and it has my story, Joy Ride in it, so today we're going to have a snippet featuring Kimberly and Nate…

But first, what is the Spice Rack? Well, the Spice Rack is a new novelty adult toy that's guaranteed to spice up your love life. Each jar holds a suggestion on how to add some zip in the bedroom or kitchen or wherever passion strikes. It's fun and saucy and whether the couples choose sweet, savory or spicy it certainly gets everyone's juices flowing!

So without further ado, here is a steamy moment from the beginning of Joy Ride. Their first Spice Rack jar revealed the task 'express your love on the move' though Kimberly has been wondering how she is going to meet her challenge…

“Thanks, I appreciate it, Mom.” Kimberly smiled and then walked over to Nate. She rested her hand on his forearm. “We should go. We’ll miss the start of the movie.”“Movie?” He creased his brow.Kimberly scowled. How could he not be playing along?“Ah yes, the movie.” Nate nodded quickly and stood. “Of course. Good to see you, Derek. I’ll hunt up the information on the old Chevy engine for you.”“Thanks, Nate, I’d appreciate it,” Derek said, shaking Nate’s hand and then turning to Kimberly. “You kids go and have fun. Sophie will be just fine with us, don’t worry about a thing.”“Thanks, Dad. See you tomorrow.” Kimberly gave her father a quick peck on the cheek and then steered Nate to the hallway.“We were only supposed to stay for a minute,” she whispered as they put on their shoes.“Sorry,” Nate mouthed and opened the door.Once outside, he pulled her close as they walked to his car. “Sorry,” he said again. “It’s just your Dad has a friend who’s bought this old Chevy and he’s renovating it. He wants me to help out.”“Well, that’s all very well, but this night is supposed to be about us, remember?”Nate squeezed her close. “Of course I remember. How could I not?” He lowered his voice. “And just so you know, if Sophie hadn’t walked into the kitchen earlier, I may well have stripped you naked right in front of the sink, bent you over and had my wicked way with you.”A shiver of delight zipped through Kimberly’s body, the longed-for sexy words as delectable as any caress. “Really?”“Yes, really.” He stopped in the shadows by the car door and wrapped her in his arms. “This damn Spice Rack and the thought of what each jar might contain has got me feeling like a horny teenager.” He kissed her hard and fast. “We should get ourselves home ASAP and open another jar.”“Just what I was thinking. And should we make it a seriously hot chili one this time?” She waggled her eyebrows suggestively and cupped his ass, hoping her father hadn’t decided to peek out the curtains. He grinned and there was a roguish glint in his eyes, one that she hadn’t seen for a while. “I don’t care what it says in the jar, because you, baby, are going to get it good.”“I am?” Oh, what a promise. Kimberly could barely control a delicious tremble of anticipation between her legs.“Yep, with the bedroom lights on and no holding back your screams of pleasure. I’m going to remind you how we used to... Fuck.”Kimberly slid her hands from his taut butt and fisted his sweater at his lower back. She couldn’t remember when she’d last heard Nate curse. But it didn’t offend her. Far from it. In fact it turned her on. Fuck. She loved that word. It should be in their lives more often. “Fuck,” she repeated. He licked his lips. “Yes, we used to fuck like crazy. Do you remember on our honeymoon? We didn’t come out of the hotel room for three days. It was awesome.”Kimberly nodded, remembering with wonderful clarity how they’d enjoyed each other’s bodies to the max. His stamina in the shower had been incredible and he’d eked out her first multiple orgasm. She’d woken him with a blow job, the best start to any day ever, he’d later said. They’d also conceived Sophie, a condom having split during a particularly strenuous doggy-style session on the balcony at three in the morning. “I remember,” she whispered against his lips. “It was awesome.”“It was how we were most of the time.” He stroked his thumb over her cheek. “I still feel the same way about you, you know. I don’t show it so much. Can’t show it so much but that doesn’t mean...” His words trailed off.“Doesn’t mean what?” She tipped her head and studied the way he nibbled at his bottom lip.“That when you walk into a room I don’t imagine you naked. When you touch me, even just a hand on my arm, I don’t long for more, much more. Because I do. I miss the old us.”Damn, so did Kimberly. How could they have let themselves get into this state?“Not to say I’m not happy with how we are,” he said hurriedly. “I am. You’re the only one for me, you have to know that, not just for today, tomorrow, but forever.” He paused. “But we’re still young, in love and, if that kiss an hour ago is anything to go by, we’re still in lust.”“Sure, we’re still in lust.” Squeezing a little tighter against him, she felt a hard package behind the fly of his jeans. “Nate! We’re at my parents’.”He grinned and rubbed his pelvis against her, just a little, the tiniest amount. “I can’t help it. Just talking about fucking you has made me hard enough to hammer nails.”Kimberly giggled. “Well, we’d best get you home so you can start hammering.”He gave a snort of laughter. “Yeah, let’s ditch the movie.”“There was never a movie.” Kimberly batted his arm and leapt into the car. The sooner they got home the sooner the fun would start. She could hardly wait.Nate pulled away from the curb, his transition up the gears more rapid than usual. Kimberly glanced at his face. His jaw was set at a steely angle and his lips were pressed tight. As the amber glow of the streetlamps slid over his profile she could see his nostrils flaring as he breathed. She squirmed on the seat, heat flooding between her legs. The need to have him above her, ramming into her, giving in to desire, was too much to bear. She could imagine it so clearly, what they would be doing the very minute they got home. Naked, sweaty, tearing at each other’s clothes—their hunt for satisfaction a wild frenzy as basic instincts took over every thought and movement. They may have to get the first one out of the way before they opened the second spice jar.Kimberly pressed her legs together and continued to stare at her husband. His fingers gripped the wheel, his biceps tensing to bricks beneath his sweater, their outline clear. She let her gaze slip lower, to his groin. The lap belt cut across his waistband, bunching his top slightly. Beneath that there was a healthy bulge.“Nate,” she said, sliding her hand onto his thigh. A truly sinful idea had just popped into her head. It would be the answer to their problem. But could she turn it into reality? He tensed but kept his eyes on the road. “Yep?”“You know that spice jar?”“Yep.”“How it said express your love on the move.”“Yep.” He glanced across at her. His eyes narrowed briefly then he turned his attention back to the near empty highway that led to the outskirts of town.“I have an idea.” Kimberly undid her belt and sidled into the middle section of the bench-style seat. “I think I know how we can fulfill the challenge before moving on to the next one.”“Baby, there’s nowhere to stop around here without having the cops pull up within a few minutes.”“I don’t want you to stop.” She slid her hand higher, up his thigh and onto the solid stretch of denim that was straining against his cock.“Ah Jesus, careful, Kim.”Kimberly ignored him and gave the impressive swelling in his groin a stroke and a squeeze.“Shit, like I said, be careful. I haven’t been this hot for it in a while. I might just come in my pants.” He shifted on the seat.“Ah, poor Nate.” She barely suppressed a giggle.“Yes, poor Nate. These damn jeans—it’s getting pretty uncomfortable.” He scowled at her. “And you’re not helping.”“But I think I can.” She licked her lips.“Not for another twenty minutes you can’t, not ’til we get home.”“But this is perfect. I have a way to express my love for you on the move. Right here, right now.” Carefully Kimberly eased the buttons on Nate’s fly free, releasing some of the pressure the wedge of flesh was causing.“What the hell are you doing?” Again Nate flashed his attention her way, but just for a second. The road was long and straight but it was a fast route and known for deer wandering across the lanes. “Kim?”“I’m going to suck you off, Nate. Now, while you’re driving us home.” Kimberly could hardly believe she’d said it. Such crass words didn’t usually fall from her lips. She was a wife and mother, the woman who worked part-time at the mall in an organic cosmetics shop. She’d just told her husband she was going to suck him off as he drove them home!
