WeWriWa excerpt Sweet Paragon
Hey, welcome back for round 2 of Weekend Writing Warriors.��a weekly hop for everyone who loves to write and share their work! Thanks everyone for dropping by last week and commenting. I enjoyed reading your work too.
Last week I posted an excerpt from my last release, Wicked with Him, and I’m continuing with a slightly abridged excerpt today…
And since apparently I can share more of the story … say hello to the Sweet Paragon
���I don���t want my family seeing me talking to you,��� the woman whispered with fear in her voice.
���Who would your family be?���
There was a long pause. ���You don���t recognize me by my voice?���
He shook his head. The voice nagged his memory but not enough to produce a name to match its sweet tones. ���No.���
���I feared as much.��� The woman sighed heavily. ���We���ve never spoken directly to each other, sir.���
He almost laughed out loud. ���Then how could I know your family?���
���You do know some of them well, but you are not on good terms with my side. Not that I blame you.���
���You have my complete attention now,��� he murmured, straightening and letting his eyes sweep the room one more time. There were many in this room whom he knew well indeed, depending on the length of their acquaintance. There were few he actively loathed though.��
One irritating creature stood directly across from him, holding court among his cronies. His senses came alert when he noticed an absence in that man���s vicinity.��
���For how long has this dislike been so apparent?���
���At least the last year,��� she said quietly.
He stiffened as the only possibility immediately came to mind. The softly spoken woman behind him could only be a connection of the despicable creature he was trying to ruin. George Sweet had been a target of Roman���s rage for one year exactly. Everyone knew why. ���And would you happen to be a close relative?���
���Unfortunately, yes.���
He turned his head slightly. ���Sweet Paragon?���
���Shh,��� the woman hissed, confirming his guess about her identity was correct.��

Greetings! I’m going to be sharing excerpts from my Scandalous Brides series books for WeWriWa (Weekend Writing Warriors) starting with Wicked with Him. I haven’t done this in a while but I hope you enjoy this short teaser excerpts. Regency fans, this is a fun blog hop where other authors post excerpts of their work each weekend. It’s not all regency romance but its always interesting! Hope you check them out as well.
Todays excerpt is from the beginning of Wicked with Him, book 1 of the Scandalous Brides series, in which my hero and heroine first meet in secret at the fringes of a ballroom.

March Writing Update
Greetings and happy March! To me, March is the real month of love (not February). I married my school sweetheart on a warm March day years and years ago. We���ve been together a REALLY long time and sometimes I can���t believe how lucky I got. Sometimes my hubby likes to remind me of that, too. LOL
The Work in Progress:Book 3 of the Scandalous Brides series, Love and Other Disasters, was going really well until mid Feb when my RSI flared up. I���ve had to work slower and more rest more for the last few weeks, but the story finally got there and was sent off to my editor a few days ago. Yay. So happy to have another novel in the Scandalous Brides series almost done. Jasper and Sophie were a lot of work but totally worth it in the end! I should have edits back next week and then I’ll put it up for pre-order and share cover and blurb.
The Next ReleaseDesperately Seeking Seduction is nearing completion too. A bit slow thanks to the RSI situation, but I don’t foresee any issues with this one. The ebook is available for pre-order at Amazon, Apple Books, Nook, and Kobo now. Google will be up shortly and then the print edition too. My upcoming blog posts will feature some early teaser excerpts.
IndieversaryI���ve just started my 13th year as a published indie author. When I self-published my first book, In the Widow���s Bed, in 2011 I hoped to find maybe 100 people who might enjoy it. I had a pretty modest goals. Still do, too. But I never imagined I���d end up publishing 56 original stories (not including boxed sets and anthologies). Such an astonishing number. Let the good times, and my imagination, continue dreaming up new scandalous romances!
Sydney Book SigningIn February, I had an absolute blast at the Australian Romance Readers Association book signing! Got to hang out with old friends and met lot of new faces, too. Were you there? After a couple of years keeping away from people, it was wonderful getting back to Sydney and the ARRA. I had so much fun that I���m already planning to attend next year, too. So if you���re keen on supporting and meeting some great Aussie Authors, I recommend you��check out ARRA.��It would be great to meet you next year at the signing.

Hello 2023
Hello 2023 and Happy New Year! Hope you had a great night and are looking forward to an exciting year to come. I know I am. I have so much planned. A year of frequent releases for your enjoyment.
First up: A new series begins…Last year I decided to start writing a new series and its the Scandalous Brides – a five book series, the first of which is Wicked with Him. Wicked with Him releases January 10.
Here’s an excerpt from the book…
Roman Crawford felt a tug on the back of his coat and turned his attention from the ballroom to see who had snuck up behind him unannounced.
“Don’t turn to look at me,” a woman whispered urgently.
He tried not to roll his eyes. Past lovers could be so tedious sometimes when they hoped to regain his attention. But he didn’t recognize this particular woman’s voice, so no doubt it was a lady long forgotten and of the belief that he would enliven her evening if offered a chance to get under her skirts again. In Roman’s experience, neglected women tended to want people to look at them and become jealous, to prove they still mattered. He scanned the ballroom for familiar faces, for husbands of previous lovers, but saw none within his immediate view.
He relaxed but truly wanted to turn and end the game, though he had to admit he was amused by her stealthy approach. “Who would your family be?”

I had an absolute blast with this one, hiding a woman in plain site in the guise of Lord Stratford’s temporary valet. I hope you’ll love it too.

December News: Where did the year go?
Hey, Regency Romance Fans!
Happy December and can you tell me where the year went? I feel I’m not yet ready for Christmas but what can you do? December 1st is when I always put my Christmas Tree up and decorate the house. It’s time to think seriously about celebrating and spoiling my family. But now to the December news:
The month that was…November was release month for Yours Until Dawn, Distinguished Rogues Book 19. So happy to have that novel released into the wild (or to ereaders) It’s one of my favorite books that I’ve written. If you love to write reviews, I’d be grateful if you’d post to Goodreads, Bookbub or any of the retailer sites.
November was also crunch time for finishing Desperately Seeking Seduction for edit. That’s done and returned with not a lot of changes needed before its fit for publication in April.
The current month…December has become an emotional time of year for me. I lost my amazing dad December 4 and in previous years that loss has lowered my enthusiasm for the entire month. But I’m determined to find my Christmas cheer this year. I’m hoping a constant stream of Christmas movies and romances will help. Suggestions for books and viewing are always welcome in the comments.
I also need to get cracking on my next work in progress. I only have a few handwritten notes so far. But I have my new hardcover spiral notebook so its just a matter of time before actual typing occurs.
What’s coming in 2023…More regency romance of course! I have the whole year planned out already.

It’s been a long time coming but the latest Distinguished Rogues romance, Yours Until Dawn, should be on your readers now and be available to purchase if you didn’t set up a pre-order. Aurora and Drew one of my favorite couples to write. I shed a tear or two while writing, and made my editor do the same during edits. (I’m terribly proud of that feat btw)
Thanks to some unexpected surgeries my plans to publishing more often during this year got completely derailed. Happy to report I’m all better, slimmer, too. Time to write…
Just a quick post because the muse is nattering in my ear twenty-four-seven at the moment and always telling me its time to write. But I wanted to give you an update on work and real life stuff before the month of August ends.
First up…I’m running a giveaway for three paperback copies of Chills right now. The draw ends October 5. Postage will be worldwide. Enter here and good luck.
Yours Until Dawn is now done and all editions are available for pre-order. The book releases November 15. There’s an ebook, paperback, hardcover, and Digitally Narrated Audiobook edition. Audiobooks are available only on GooglePlay and Kobo at present.
The muse has me writing up a storm for the new series I want to launch in early 2023. I’m very excited about this one. I adore writing brothers and the ensuing family drama when they’re gathered together. The first book (Wicked with Him) is in edits right now, book two is flying off my fingers, and the later books main characters are getting loud. I still have covers to design yet and release dates to settle on, but it shouldn’t be long now until I have some news on that score.
On the me front, I’ve pretty much adjusted to life after cataract surgery I had in July. That was a scary time for me, being worried about how the change might impact my ability to write afterward. But I had the best eye surgeon I could hope for and I should not have worried at all. Thanks Dr. Peter. Love your work! And about that story you wanted me to write based on how you and your wife met…well, that’s still percolating in my brain. 
Well, that’s it from me. Time to write…these characters won’t seduce each other without my help.
