Is the Dollar on Life-support?

China’s apparent support for the US dollar has a double impact. It supports the imperiled Treasury bond market, and it also keeps Chinese goods cheap for US consumers. That has a significant impact on US inflation: America’s trade deficit is deepening while import prices are rising.

The mystery of life blog

ASIATIMES Report “China is intervening in forex markets to soak up dollars, invest in Treasuries and effectively pay the bill of US fiscal stimulus.”

But why would China try to prop up the dollar? Remember, China’s strategy is to manage a peaceful decline of the United States. its strategy is to wait for the rotting apple to fall on its own rather than to shake the tree risking the wrath and fallout of a Samson seppuku.

19-Year-Old College Freshman Dies From Heart Problem One Month After Second Dose of Moderna Vaccine

Simone Scott, a 19-year-old freshman at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., died June 11 of complications from a heart transplant.By  Megan Redshaw

Simone Scott underwent a heart transplant one month after developing what her doctors believe was myocarditis following her second dose of Moderna. She received the second vaccine May 1 and died June 11.

Simone Scott, a 19-year-old freshman at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., died June 11 of complications from a heart transplant she underwent after developing what her doctors believe was myocarditis following her second dose of the Moderna COVID vaccine.

Scott received her second dose of Moderna on May 1, WLWT 5 reported. When the 2020 Mason High School graduate and senior class vice president paid a surprise visit to her parents for Mother’s Day, May 9, her mother said she noticed Scott wasn’t feeling well.

“I did notice she was kind of stuffy so her voice wasn’t exactly the same,” Valerie Kraimer said.

Scott returned to campus on May 11, where even after a visit to the doctor, her condition worsened. Kraimer said multiple tests came back negative including a COVID-19 test.

“On Sunday morning [May 16], she texted her father and said, ‘Dad, I feel so dizzy. I cannot get out of bed’ and that’s when everything really started from there,” Kraimer said.

Scott’s parents were hundreds of miles away so her father called campus police to have someone check in on her.

“We learned that a doctor had to jump on her chest and give her CPR because she was that bad, and then the whole cascade of events happened, Kraimer said. “They had to intubate her and realized she was in heart failure.”

After multiple interventions, including hooking Scott to an ECMO machine that mirrors the function of the heart so her own heart could rest, doctors determined she needed a heart replacement. Her doctors have not fully confirmed the cause of her death, but they said it appears Scott suffered from myocarditis.

Myocarditis is inflammation of the heart muscle that can lead to cardiac arrhythmia and death. According to researchers at the National Organization for Rare Disorders, myocarditis can result from infections, but “more commonly the myocarditis is a result of the body’s immune reaction to the initial heart damage.”

Covid Management and Treatment in Iran

The Unruffled City

Press TV (2020)

Film Review

This video is clearly a feel good propaganda film about Iran’s response to it’s first wave Covid outbreak in February 2020. The brutal sanctions regime by the US and its allies has made it difficult for their doctors their to obtain respirators, lab and personal protective equipment and some drugs.

I found it remarkable how resilient and self-sufficient the country has become after more than a decade of sanctions. Both their hospitals and mosques are staffed by paid and volunteer sewing brigades to make reusable protective masks and coveralls for doctors and nurses.

In addition, Iran’s Covid’s specialists seemed less inclined to put their critically ill Covid patients on respirators (perhaps because they don’t have as many?). This may explain their good recovery rate (60-70%) of hospitalized Covid patients – compared to US Covid patients.*

The film strongly emphasizes the role mosques played in scrupulously fumigating (pwith toxic chemicals?) both hospitals and homes of Covid victims. This was a year before the WHO and CDC advised Covid isn’t transmitted by contact with objects or surfaces (see https://nypost.com/2021/04/05/low-risk-of-catching-covid-from-surfaces-new-cdc-guidelines/).

According to the Western media, in 2020 Iran had the worst overall Covid infection and fatality of any Middle East country.

Hopefully this may change now that they have authorized the use of Ivermectin to treat Covid (see https://www.thailandmedical.news/news/ivermectin-being-approved-as-drug-treat-covid-19-in-more-countries-including-mexico,-brazil,-iran,-india-while-south-africa-reverses-its-ban).

This followed a randomized controlled multicentr Ivermection trial they completed in November:

Owing to their difficulty they experience importing Covid vaccine under sanction, they have also developed their own Covid vaccine: see https://english.alarabiya.net/coronavirus/2021/06/14/Iran-gives-emergency-approval-for-locally-made-COVID-19-blessing-vaccine

Amazon, Apple, Google, Facebook Targeted by Pack of Antitrust Bills

United States Capitol | Architecture, History, United ...

Joan E Solsman

C/Net

US lawmakers unveiled a wide-ranging antitrust agenda Friday, aiming to rein in the competitive power of giants like Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google with five bipartisan bills that would represent the most meaningful refashioning of antitrust laws in decades. The bills, which are the culmination of more than a year-long investigation of digital competition, target what lawmakers call the “unregulated power” wielded by Big Tech.

The bills are aimed at the four tech titans, which collectively influence almost every aspect of online life, as well as the broader industry. If eventually passed into law, the bills would make it easier for the government to break up parts of dominant companies, prevent them from snuffing out competition through preemptive acquisitions and crimp their participation in different businesses with conflicts of interest.

How a Respected Pediatrician Lost His Medical License — Because He Supported Informed Consent

“Dr. Paul,” Thomas was accused by the board of posing a threat to public health.By Jeremy R. Hammond

On Dec. 3, 2020, the Oregon Medical Board issued an “emergency order” to suspend the license of Dr. Paul Thomas, a pediatrician, who along with science writer Jennifer Margulis, Ph.D., co-authored “The Vaccine-Friendly Plan.”

Affectionately known by his patients and peers as “Dr. Paul,” Thomas was accused by the board of posing a threat to public health by pushing parents to accept his alternative vaccine schedule rather than the routine childhood vaccine schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The apparent impetus for the “emergency” meeting, however, was the publication just days prior of a study showing that compared with his vaccinated patients, those patients who received no vaccines have significantly lower incidence of diagnoses and office visits for a broad range of chronic health conditions — including asthma, allergies, eczema, dermatitis, hives, anemia, eye disorders, ear infections, respiratory infections, other infections, breathing issues, behavioral issues, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Thomas obtained institutional review board approval to use his de-identified patient data for research and publication of the study, which was co-authored by James Lyons-Weiler, Ph.D.

The study population consisted of all patients born into his practice. Titled “Relative Incidence of Office Visits and Cumulative Rates of Billed Diagnoses Along the Axis of Vaccination,” it was published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health on Nov. 22, 2020.

While the study does not demonstrate that vaccination was the cause of the higher incidence and severity of chronic illnesses among vaccinated children, the results do demonstrate to a reasonable degree of certainty that Thomas’ unvaccinated children are healthier and place less of a burden on the healthcare system.

Among patients born into his practice, the rate of autism was one-fifth that of the CDC’s estimated national prevalence of 1 in 54 children. For ADHD, there were zero cases among his unvaccinated patients compared with 5.3% of the variably vaccinated, which in turn compares with the U.S. national rate, according to the CDC, of 9.4%.

Looking at diagnoses for diseases CDC-recommended vaccines are intended to protect against, the study’s authors found a total of 41:29 for varicella (or chicken pox), 10 for pertussis (or whooping cough), and two for rotavirus. The numbers of diagnoses for the unvaccinated group were 23, nine and two, respectively.

These numbers indicated that 17.2 children born into his practice needed to be vaccinated in order for one child to receive the benefit of protection against a vaccine-targeted disease.

To put it another way, for every 17 children vaccinated, 16 received no benefit from having undergone a risk-carrying pharmaceutical intervention. There were zero deaths in Thomas’s practice from any disease for which the CDC recommends vaccination.

Breakthrough: Ivermectin inhibits SARS-CoV-2 spike protein from binding to ACE2 receptors in

By LJ Devon – A Final Warning – 2021-06-09

Ivermectin, a common anti-parasite drug, has shown great efficacy in the fight against covid-19. For the first time, medical researchers have documented how ivermectin docks to the SARS-CoV-2 spike receptor-binding domain that is attached to the ACE2 receptor. In this way, ivermectin effectively inhibits viral attachment and replication, assisting a precise antiviral response that can target the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein at its most advantageous cleavage site. The researchers showed how ivermectin interferes with the attachment of the spike protein to the human cell membrane. Ivermectin is a simple medicine derived from the bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis. It weakens and kills parasites by interfering with their nervous system and muscle function. Ivermectin targets the glutamate-gated chloride channels in the parasite’s nerve and muscle cells, bolstering inhibitory effects in the parasite’s own neurotransmission. As the chloride ions permeate, the parasite’s cells are hyper-polarized and then paralyzed, resulting in their demise. In this study, ivermectin docked in region of leucine 91 of the spike protein and at the histidine 378 of the ACE2 receptor. The binding energy and constancy of ivermectin was also measured and found to be sufficient at the ACE2 receptor, proving the anti-parasitic molecule a powerful force for blocking viral attachment of SARS-CoV-2.

Ivermectin blocks SARS CoV-2 at the ACE2 receptor in humans

The 17 randomized controlled trials that use ivermectin for early treatment and prophylaxis report positive effects, with an estimated improvement of 73 percent and 83 percent, respectively. Out of 37 early treatment and prophylaxis studies for ivermectin, 97 percent report positive effects. One of the studies documents how ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro and displays broad-spectrum anti-viral activity against the causative virus (SARS-CoV-2).

This study showed a 5,000-fold reduction in viral RNA after just 48 hours. The study also proves that effective treatments and prophylactics can mitigate the replication and spread of a virus thousands of times faster than the paranoid, isolationist approach of social distancing and lockdowns. If antivirals were encouraged early and often, then the spread of actual infectious virus would have been mitigated at rates thousands of times faster than the insane method of treating everyone as if they are infectious. By treating actual infections where symptoms are present, the spread is reduced at magnitudes thousands of times greater, while conveying immunity instead of terror.

The SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is designed to attach to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) in humans. To see whether ivermectin could dock at this receptor site and block viral attachment, the researchers used a program called AutoDock Vina Extended. This docking study showed the crystal structure of the SARS-CoV-2 spike receptor binding domain. The researchers looked specifically at the human ACE2 receptor and calculated the root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) of its atomic positions. A lower RMSD value indicates a more accurate docking capacity. When the RMSD value is three or greater, no docking has occurred at the receptor site. Ivermectin did not dock at nine of the locations; however, it did dock at the leucine 91 region of the spike and histidine 378 at the intersection of proteins between SARS CoV-2 and the ACE2 receptor complex. Previous studies proved ivermectin’s efficacy, but had to use high concentrations of the drug because the study relied on African green monkey kidney epithelial cells, which do not express the human ACE2 receptor. SARS-CoV-2 is specifically equipped to infect human ACE2 receptors, so this study could prove ivermectin to be effective in much smaller dosages.

Back in sixties, sugar industry paid “science” to falsely blame dietary fat for poor health

Back in the 1960s, sugar industry paid “science” to falsely blame dietary fat for poor health

Dr Eddy Betterman

A new paper published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine exposes the sugar industry for tampering with more than 50 years’ worth of “science” to push an egregiously deceptive anti-fat agenda.

Since at least the 1960s, the sugar peddlers have been spreading the myth that consuming fat makes you fat, and that sugar is somehow good for you. The industry has systematically blamed fats for the chronic health epidemic that has largely been caused by sugar consumption.

An industry group called the Sugar Research Foundation (SRF), the paper reveals, has been actively “refut[ing]” concerns about sugar’s potential role in causing heart disease, for instance. The group has spent loads of cash over the past 60 some-odd years lobbying scientists to publish fake papers in favor of sugar.

Back in 1967, for instance, scientists from Harvard University were paid by the SRF to publish a paper in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) “debunking” the link between sugar and heart disease. It was not disclosed anywhere in the research that the sugar industry had funded it.

“The sugar-funded project in question was a literature review, examining a variety of studies and experiments,” reports NPR.

“It suggested there were major problems with all the studies that implicated sugar, and concluded that cutting fat out of American diets was the best way to address coronary heart disease.”

How much other “science” has likewise been corrupted by special interests?

For at least the past five decades, the authors of this latest study reveal, the sugar industry has been pulling a fast one on society by paying for fake science paper after fake science paper, all trying to glorify sugar while demonizing fat.

“It was a very smart thing the sugar industry did, because review papers, especially if you get them published in a very prominent journal, tend to shape the overall scientific discussion,” co-author Stanton Glantz told The New York Times.

Glantz and his colleagues did not set out to make a case linking sugar consumption to coronary heart disease, but rather to identify why much of the “science” that has been published over the years has sought to disprove it – almost as if there was an agenda all along.

We now know that there was, in fact, a pro-sugar, anti-fat agenda at play that has deceived many into believing that they should avoid consuming fats, even when doing so caused them to consume more sugar.

Pfizer Knew

Documents obtained from Japanese regulatory agency reveal that Pfizer biodistribution studies showed that mRNA and spike proteins circulate widely throughout the body.

Dr Joseph Mercola

Story at-a-glanceCanadian immunologist and vaccine researcher Byram Bridle, Ph.D., has gained access to Pfizer’s biodistribution study from the Japanese regulatory agency. The research, previously unseen, demonstrates a huge problem with all COVID-19 vaccinesThe assumption that vaccine developers have been working with is that the mRNA in the vaccines would primarily remain in and around the vaccination site. Pfizer’s data, however, show the mRNA and subsequent spike protein are widely distributed in the body within hoursThis is a serious problem, as the spike protein is a toxin shown to cause cardiovascular and neurological damage. It also has reproductive toxicity, and Pfizer’s biodistribution data show it accumulates in women’s ovariesOnce in your blood circulation, the spike protein binds to platelet receptors and the cells that line your blood vessels. When that happens, it can cause platelets to clump together, resulting in blood clots, and/or cause abnormal bleedingPfizer documents submitted to the European Medicines Agency also show the company failed to follow industry-standard quality management practices during preclinical toxicology studies and that key studies did not meet good laboratory practice standards

The more we learn about the COVID-19 vaccines, the worse they look. In a recent interview1 with Alex Pierson (above), Canadian immunologist and vaccine researcher Byram Bridle, Ph.D., dropped a shocking truth bomb that immediately went viral, despite being censored by Google.

It also was featured in a “fact” check by The Poynter Institute’s Politifact,2 which pronounced Bridle’s findings as “false” after interviewing Dr. Drew Weissman,3 a UPenn scientist who is credited with helping to create the technology that enables the COVID mRNA vaccines to work. But, as you can see below, unlike Bridle, Politifact neglected to go beyond interviewing someone with such a huge stake in the vaccine’s success.

No Cars for Sale Two Years from Now

Tap News

Seriously.  There are no plastics available in the USA as the only plant making plastic car parts closed.   The office distributing plastic parts in the USA is also closed.  To find out information about the availability of plastics in  the USA, traders have to call the European office, where a single manager runs Europe and the USA.  I know this information because I met him recently and he explained to me that the simple truth is that in two years time there will be no new cars available.

The price of secondhand cars is rising for a very good reason.  Soon they will be all that’s available.  Buying a new Merc in the UK you wait six months for delivery now.  In two years time there won’t be any.  I can’t give the name of my source.  He’s being made redundant in two years time and he’s negotiated his lay-off deal.  This is really happening.

https://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/chips-seating-foam-plastics-parts-shortages-continue-cripple-auto-industry-n1261773

Chip manufacturers say they don’t have the capacity to quickly ramp up production for the auto industry as car sales recover. President Joe Biden last month called for $37 billion in new funding “to work with industrial leaders to identify solutions to the semiconductor shortfall.” He also signed an executive order calling for a 100-day review of supply chains. It’s unclear how soon any of the measures might boost production and help refill the order pipeline.

Adding to the crisis, some manufacturers are running out of critical petroleum-based products after the recent freezing weather in Texas led to shutdowns of key petrochemical plants. Industry analysts expect shortages of plastics and petroleum-based automotive products, especially seating foam.

It is a particularly tough time for the auto industry. North American manufacturing was halted for about two months last spring because of the pandemic. Since they reopened, automakers have struggled to refill showrooms. Inventory on U.S. dealer lots is down by at least a million vehicles compared to what would be normal this time of year, according to the research company J.D. Power.

Consumers are feeling the pinch in several ways, analysts said. Buyers may find it harder to find the exact models they want, especially when it comes to color and accessories. With supplies short, meanwhile, automakers have cut back on incentives, while salespeople have less need to cut deals.

But idling production and reducing sales will have a big impact on the collective bottom line. Ford warned that the chip shortage alone could reduce earnings by $1 billion to $2.5 billion this year. General Motors put its number at $2 billion. While Honda didn’t put out a dollar figure, it warned last month that it expects to sell about 100,000 fewer vehicles worldwide this year solely because of the chip shortages.

Forget Going Back to the Office—People Are Just Quitting Instead

Lauren Weber

As the pandemic clouds lift, the percentage of Americans leaving employers for new opportunities is at its highest level in more than two decades

The shift by Americans into new jobs and careers is prompting employers to raise wages and offer promotionsto keep hold of talent. The appetite for change by employees indicates many professionals are feeling confident about jumping ship for better prospects, despite elevated unemployment rates.

While a high quit rate stings employers with greater turnover costs, and in some cases, business disruptions, labor economists say churn typically signals a healthy labor market as individuals gravitate to jobs more suited to their skills, interests and personal lives.

In March 2020, Edward Moses was hired as an information-technology specialist at a software company, believing he would be part of a team supporting colleagues in four U.S. offices. Instead, after a round of layoffs, he found the team had one member, and he was it. “It was effectively me against the help-desk queue,” the 37-year-old says.

The days were stressful, he says, and there were few opportunities for promotion. A 5% raise after a strong performance evaluation didn’t quell his frustration. This spring, Mr. Moses gave notice and started a new job—and career path—as a technical writer at electronic-signature company DocuSign.

“It feels wonderful to take my staunch love for proper grammar and make it into a job,” says Mr. Moses, who has a master’s degree in education.

Several factors are driving the job turnover. Many people are spurning a return to business as usual, preferring the flexibility of remote work or reluctant to be in an office before the virus is vanquished. Others are burned out from extra pandemic workloads and stress, while some are looking for higher pay to make up for a spouse’s job loss or used the past year to reconsider their career path and shift gears.
