Iranian officials have struck back at the Trump administration?sverbal attackson Iran, suggesting the U.S. should worry about its own domestic problems before turning a critical eye towards them.Accordingtoal-Monitor, an arguablypro-Tehranmedia site:

“Iranian officials have condemned US Secretary of Defense James Mattis for calling for regime change in Iran. During an interview with a high school newspaper , Mattis said US relations with Tehran will have to wait ?until the Iranian people can get rid of this theocracy.?

He also referred to Iran as ?the most destabilizing influence in the Middle East.? The interview, published June 20, went viral July 10 and was picked up by a number of English-language media outlets.?

Mattis? statements reek of hypocrisy considering the mostextreme theocraciesin the Middle East continue to maintain close relationships with the U.S. as the U.S…

Japan Plans to Expose Its People and 2020 Tokyo Olympians to Fukushima Radiation

2017_0717fukushima.jpgRadiation-contaminated debris and soil is stockpiled for disposal near the Tokyo Electric Power Company’s embattled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant on February 25, 2016, in Okuma, Japan.

Former nuclear industry senior vice president Arnie Gundersen, who managed and coordinated projects at 70 US atomic power plants, is appalled at how the Japanese government is handling the Fukushima nuclear crisis.

“The inhumanity of the Japanese government toward the Fukushima disaster refugees is appalling,” Gundersen, a licensed reactor operator with 45 years of nuclear power engineering experience and the author of a bestselling book in Japan about the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, told Truthout.

He explains that both the Japanese government and the atomic power industry are trying to force almost all of the people who evacuated their homes in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster to return “home”…

Rand Paul: Healthcare Bill Is “A giant Bailout Superfund For Insurance Companies”

I’m not for any taxpayer money going to an industry that makes $15 billion a year.”

By Steve Watson | Infowars.com

Republican Senator Rand Paul hit out at GOP healthcare legislation Sunday, warning that the bill isn’t a repeal and keeps the “fundamental flaw” of Obamacare.

“I think the longer the bill is out there, the more conservative Republicans are going to discover that it’s not repeal, and the more that everybody is going to discover that it keeps the fundamental flaw of Obamacare.” Paul said on CBS’ Face The Nation.

“It keeps the insurance mandates that cause the prices to rise, which chase young, healthy people out of the marketplace, and leads to what people call adverse selection, where you have a sicker and sicker insurance pool, and the premiums keep rising through the roof.” the Senator urged.

Paul noted that while Republicans have complained ad nauseum about Obamacare, they still intend to keep its core intact in their bill, expected to be further debated this week.

“And the reason you know Republicans acknowledge this is, they make a giant insurance fund to subsidize those prices.” Paul said.

“Basically, they’re subsidizing the death spiral of Obamacare.” the Senator exclaimed.

“So, for all Republicans’ complaints about the death spiral of Obamacare, they don’t fix it. They simply subsidize it with taxpayer moneys, which I just don’t agree with at all.”

Paul said he will be voting against the GOP bill because it is not consistent with his principles.

“it’s absolutely wrong. It’s not all consistent with conservative principles, free market principles, or being a Republican.” he said.

“And it also has nothing to do with repeal. I mean, we promised the voters for four elections. They elected us to repeal Obamacare, and now we’re going to keep most of the taxes, keep the regs (regulations), keep the subsidies, and create a giant bailout superfund for the insurance companies. I just don’t see it.”

“I’m not for any taxpayer money going to .. an industry that makes $15 billion a year,” the Senator affirmed…

REBEL YELL: 10 Nasty Women Who Shaped American History

A roundup of some American women who’ve been making change happen and getting shit done—always on their own terms—and always in the face of BS from the boys. Venus and Serena Williams, Emma Goldman, Angela Davis, Josephine Baker, Queen Lili‘uokalani, Dolores Huerta . . .

“…Dolores Huerta: She and Cesar Chavez worked side by side, co-founding the United Farm Workers union and organizing the labor movement in California and beyond. It was Dolores who directed the 1965 Delano grape boycott, and her work as a political advocate has resulted in the passage of a number of significant labor protections for farm workers”:

(10 Nasty Women Who Shaped American History – By Kate Schatz)

Before Trump ever called Clinton a “nasty woman,” these fierce ladies were getting it done—in the face of B.S. from the boys.

“Nasty women are tough. Nasty women are smart. And nasty women vote.” —Sen. Elizabeth Warren

Here’s one way to look at this election: The upside to a certain candidate’s rampant misogyny is that we get amazing feminist memes, like #NastyWomenGetItDone, that allow us a platform for conversations about serious issues that affect women. While…

Death by Toxic Chemicals

The Human Experiment

Directed by Don Hardy (2013)

Film Review

Narrated by Sean Penn, this documentary concerns the growing toxics movement and the fight to bring the US in line with the rest of the world in protecting Americans against toxic chemicals. The ultimate goal of this movement is to put the burden of proof on chemical manufacturers to prove their products are safe before introducing them to the environment. At present new chemicals are considered safe until large numbers of consumers get sick and die.

I was aware the EU had much stronger consumer protections than the US. I was appalled to learn that China’s toxic standards exceed those of the US – that China uses the US as dumping ground for formaldehyde containing products banned in their own country.

The film starts with some frightening health problems related to toxic chemical exposure:

Breast cancer (virtually unknown prior to 1900) has increased 30% since 1975.
Infertility has increased 49% since 1988.
Brain cancer in children has increased 38% since 1990.
Autism has increase over 1000% since 1999.
Asthma has increased 80% since 1990.
Leukemia has increased 74% since 1990.

The filmmakers also provide an intriguing snapshot of the cynical techniques employed by the chemical lobby, which spends hundreds of millions of dollars a year fighting federal and state regulation. Unsurprisingly they rely on the same public relations firms and tactics the asbestos and tobacco industry used to stall regulation of their products.

The most inspiring segment of the documentary concerns Teens for Safe Cosmetics, a movement organized by teenage girls to educate other teens about the dangerous chemicals in their cosmetics. So far, the group’s most inspiring tactic involved entering supermarkets and labeling all the Secret deodorant products with homemade warning stickers.

Bayer Accidentally Funds Study Showing Its Pesticide is Killing Bees, Promptly Denies Conclusions

*

Die-off of bees threatens global food supply, as most food sources dependent on pollination.

Openhearted Rebel

By Justin Gardner, Natural Blaze

A large-scale study on neonicotinoid pesticides is adding to the growing body of evidence that these agricultural chemicals are indeed harming bee populations. Carried out at 33 sites in the United Kingdom, Germany and Hungary, the study found that exposure to neonicotinoids “left honeybee hives less likely to survive over winter, while bumblebees and solitary bees produced fewer queens.”

Bayer and Syngenta, makers of “neonic” pesticides who stand to reap massive profits if Europe lifts the neonic ban, promptly disputed the researchers’ conclusions—even though they partially funded the study.

The Fascinating Connections Between Gut Bacteria, Weight And Mood

*

New studies look at link between unhealthy gut bacteria, weight gain and mood changes.

Kopitiam Bot

(Source: www.forbes.com)

From the research these days, it seems like there’s not much our gut bacteria don’t do. From affecting our risk for cancer to lengthening or shortening our lifespans to influencing our mental health, it feels like we’re quite at the mercy of the tiny organisms in our guts. The connection between gut bacteria and weight is one of the easier ones to conceptualize—and it goes both ways: What we eat affects the makeup of our microbiomes, and their makeup affects how we process food (and maybe even what we crave), and our weight. Two new studies look at this connection more closely: One finds that the microbiome plays a role in the effects that fatty foods will have. The other suggests that interrupting how gut bacteria processes food may go a long way toward addressing obesity.

GMOs Just Got A Lot More Frightening With Approval Of New Monsanto Product

*

*

The EPA just told Monsanto they could go ahead and bypass spraying our crops with carcinogenic chemicals like Round Up and just go ahead and breed them right into the crops themselves.

Openhearted Rebel

By Christina Sarich, Thanks to Natural Blaze

Forget spraying pesticides on your food, now they’ll be genetically engineered to be in your food, thanks to Monsanto’s latest quiet approval via the US Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA just told Monsanto they could go ahead and bypass spraying our crops with carcinogenic chemicals like Round Up and just go ahead and breed them right into the crops themselves. Using a process called RNA interference, Monsanto’s RNAi plant will supposedly kill pesky rootworms when they come along to chomp on them- but what else will these genetically modified crops do to beneficial bugs, the soil, and human health? The EPA has no idea, because they haven’t done a single trial on RNAi-altered crops.

Mesopotamia Thrived With NO Ruling Elite*

Mesopotamia civilization flourished for 4,000 years without warriors, warfare, chariots or combat, clubs or swords or a ruling elite.

Mesopotamia Thrived With NO Ruling Elite*

By Gregory Sams

There is a remarkable discovery that has not yet emerged from our renewed interest in ancient civilization. Yet few remark upon this glaring omission from the relics and records we dig up and discover. I first recognized its absence at a visit to the British Museum, and made a point of going back a few years later for another check. Their Mesopotamian rooms begin at 6500 BC, and as you wander through the exhibits and look at the artifacts and depictions of their culture there are none depicting warriors or warfare, chariots or combat, clubs or swords – for nearly four thousand years. As for kings and rulers, there was a single image thought to be a king because it looks like he’s wearing a crown. And what is this king doing? He is feeding flowers to sheep.

Thriving Ancient Cities…

12 American Foods that are Banned in Other Countries*

By Amy Goodrich

Americans are slowly waking up to the sad fact that their food supply is packed with hazardous and toxic compounds.

Many of the American foods you may be eating on a daily basis are banned in other countries because they contain compounds that are known to cause inflammation, growth defects and cancer.

For some reason the U.S. government and FDA allows these toxic foods to end up in our supermarkets while other countries have taken them off the shelves.

Pink Slime

Pink slime is a name used for processed low-grade beef trimmings and meat by-products. They use ammonium hydroxide in their processing, which is banned in many other countries outside the US.

This pink slime is often added to processed foods. Products can contain up to 15% without additional labelling.

Banned in: Canada, U.K., and E.U.
