HWA’s “Crafting the Horror Novel” at the Tampa Bay Times Festival of Reading

The Tampa Bay Times’ Festival of Reading has been bringing a diverse galaxy of literary stars to the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg Campus for over two decades. With free admission to the festival and all its activities, including appearances by nationally acclaimed authors, the event draws thousands of book lovers every year.

This year the Horror Writers Association, the premiere international guild of professionals writing dark speculative fiction and horror, is sponsoring “Crafting the Horror Novel,” a four-author discussion panel about all things scary, night-bumpy and terrifying. Kathy is thrilled to be selected as moderator for the HWA panel featuring Richard Lee Byers, Jeff Strand, Peter Salomon and Russell J. James. The panel begins at 10:00 a.m., with the authors signing their latest releases immediately following.

But that’s not all of it! The Horror Writers Association is also sponsoring a booth in the festival marketplace, which will feature Kathy’s books as well as those by Mary-Jo Holmes, and other works by Peter Salomon and Russell James. Find them at Booth 39 in the marketplace.

It’s getting close now! Necronomicon is one grand, colorful kaleidoscope of fandom.

Thriller, dark fantasy and horror writer K.L. Nappier returns to this iconic Tampa Bay area fan convention, celebrating its thirty-third year. Below is Kathy’s schedule for book signings and the panels she’ll be participating in, including the ones she has been asked to host.

This year the Horror Writers Association (HWA), the worldwide premiere organization of professional horror and dark fiction authors, will have a presence at the Tampa Bay Times Reading Festival. Kathy is thrilled to be among the authors tapped for sponsorship by HWA.

A brand new book celebration, this is sure to become an annual oasis for readers! A real party that includes live music, food and over forty authors and publishers at one of the Tampa Bay area’s most scenic business venues, Rocky Point.

But this is much more than a reading event. The On Point Book Fair is sponsoring End 68 Hours of Hunger, a not-for-profit organization that confronts the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school on Friday afternoon and the free breakfast they receive in school on Monday morning. Bring a boxed or canned food item to the event and not only enjoy a night of terrific books and entertainment, the feeling that you’ve made a difference.

Kathy will join Karen Gillman, organizer of the On Point Book Fair taking place Friday, July 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Together they’ll be talking about this brand new literary event that brings over 40 authors and publishers to the Tampa Bay Area. The fair brings publishing professionals right to the readers, and promises to make a real party out of it with live music, refreshments and other attractions. Kathy is thrilled to be a part of this inaugural book fair, sure to become a must-do in the Tampa Bay Area literary scene.
