Had my first covaxin dose today.
In the end I assessed that there were potentially higher benefits (even though only temporary) than costs at my age. The vaccine will supposedly bring down my risk of severe covid disease (which remains a potentially lethal but modest disease – overall – from all known data) to the level of risk faced by someone […]

Sign this to demand an end to covid atrocities against children.
I’m delighted that Prof. Bhaskaran Raman of IIT Mumbai is not sitting on the sidelines and complaining. He has helped organise a “chain” by which parents and everyone else who cares for children’s health and well-being can join to demand an “immediate end to ongoing disproportionate and hugely harmful disruptions to childrens’ lives. While this […]

CT score to complement IQ score – #1
I’ve commented on the strengths (and mostly, limitations) of IQ over the years. Unfortunately, I’ve repeatedly found high IQ individuals performing very poorly in novel situations in which they tend to shut down their brain and follow group think. So IQ is fine for hiring a technician but entirely useless for hiring someone who has […]

The conceptualisation of Swatantra Party
I’m sharing a short extract from Rajmohan Gandhi’s book, Rajaji – a Life, since it shows the courage and organisational ability of one of the greatest men India has produced: Rajaji === In 1959, … Ignoring ailments and shaking off inhibitions, Rajaji, 80, decided to challenge Jawaharlal, who seemed to embody power, fame and vitality, […]

WHY I SHOW THE RED FLAG, by Rajaji, 16 February 1959 in The Hindustan Times
(A sharp rebuke to Nehru on his land ceiling laws. Rajaji displays remarkable knowledge of local information and incentives: it is almost as if FA Hayek were writing this piece) THE programme of expropriation of land above a certain allowed maximum will, it is stated by the Prime Minister of India, affect only an insignificant […]

VIOLENT SOCIALISM, by Rajaji, 19 January 1959, in The Indian Express
(Rajaji’s scathing criticism of Nehru’s socialism/communism) IT is not only lathis and rifles that make violence. A show of rifles is as much violence as actual shooting. The violence of legislative compulsion on a submissive people is of the same quality as lathis and rifles, and the coercion exercised through it is even more effective […]

ONE – FOOTED DEMOCRACY, by Rajaji, 6 January 1959 in The Hindu
DEMOCRACY in India is in quest of an Opposition. It is no longer a matter of doubt or debate but the ruling party in India is itself tired of its near totalitarianism. It wants, and realizing this it desires a strong and real Opposition. The leaders of the ruling party have more than once expressed […]

No, this 2006 paper doesn’t advocate lockdowns
Someone claimed that this 2006 paper recommended lockdowns: https://www1.health.gov.au/internet/p... I had a 5 minute look – a few snippets attached. My findings on the above paper: 1. There is no mention of lockdowns or cordon sanitaire. 2. The results are absolutely standard and consistent with all pre-2020 papers (see snippets ). NONE of the measures discussed […]
