Will Write for Cupcakes

Reading through Prospera Publishing's newsletter yesterday, I came across this:

Forget about equating writing with financial reward. You need to write because you love it, not because you want that contract and a place in the bestseller charts. The first should help with the second, but writing is one of those jobs that pays nothing for a very long time, and the sooner you come to terms with this, the better you'll feel about continuing your work.

And I had to smile, because this is such a gre...

Sweet Sunday: Churros

Churros, churros, churros. Say that three times fast! Despite their rather, um... phallic appearance, these are worth getting over any Freudian hang-ups and indulging in their hot, deep-fried goodness - and make sure to get some chocolate sauce for dipping!

Here's the blurb (from Amazon.co.uk):

Jack worships luck and decides his...

My First Book Launch

Living in London and surrounded by a plethora of literary events -- and even having a few books of my own published -- I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I'd never been to a book launch until last night. What actually happens at those mythical launches, I always wondered.

So when the lovely Caroline Smailes invited me to the London launch of her new book Like Bees to Honey , I jumped at the chance to go. Like the true social coward I am, though, I dragged along my husband with me so I could talk...
