I believe this to be entitled "One of the People" but I have seen it titled "An omnibus ride to Piccadilly (Mr Gladstone travelling with ordinary passengers)"

Dated 1885.

By Alfred Morgan.

Little known fact: Jules Verne was young once.

Today is Jules Verne's birthday. Widely regarded as one of the founders of modern science fiction (indeed, often called the Father of Science Fiction), Verne's works explored many of the new technologies and scientific concepts produced during the 19th Century. Many of the fictional machines in his writing anticipated the factual development of technology in the 20th Century. Verne's writing is still immensely popular today and he is one of the most translated authors in history.

Today is the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens, who was undoubtably one of the greatest writers in English literature. His works were immensely popular during his own lifetime (indeed, he was arguably the most popular author of his generation) and they have remained popular throughout subsequent generations. Most of his stories were initially published as serials, which given them a lively pace that can sometimes be lost in novels written to be novels. In addition to being popular and telling a good story, Dickens's writing wrestled with important topics of the day and often engaged in witty social commentary about the injustice and inequality of his time.

As you may have seen, yesterday I posted to my Twitter that I was having a bad day. A bunch of work wasn't coming together, I was frustrated by it, and every single bottle I tried to open either spilled or fizzed in my face (and believe me, when you need caffeine, having your soda do that is no fun).

Today I was contacted by a very wonderful fan who has asked to remain unnamed. This fan contacted me for my sizing information and ordered the jacket pictured above as a (and I quote) "feel better and keep up the awesome work" present. Words cannot describe how touched I am by this gesture and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my fans for their constant support and kind words.
