Schachinger primarily painted portraits, floral still lifes, and genre paintings . For the session hall of the Bavarian Reichsrat chamber, he portrayed the Bavarian kings Max II and Louis II . His most famous painting depicts King Louis in the garb of the Grand Master of the Order of St. George and hangs in the Museum of Herrenchiemsee .
