Joseph van Lerius: Young Girl from Rattvik in Dalarna, 1862.
Dalarna, “The Dales,” is a region in Sweden with a rich and unique folk culture, with distinct music, paintings, and handicrafts. The dalkarlar used a version of the old runic alphabet well into the 19th century.

Hatzegopteryx had a wingspan of about 10 metres - making it one of the largest known flying animals of all time.
This can be a little hard to visualize, so check this image out. Despite its size, Hatzegopteryx’s hollow skeleton means that the pterosaur only weighs about 1/6 as much as the giraffe.

This is really true, I really am utterly amazed at the amount of people that view artists as “something not human”, almost as if we were machines. Then attack and become absolutely horrid because we won’t appease them or we don’t act a certain way like they want us to or because we “are getting attention we don’t deserve.” Artists work really hard on their works and to treat them like they don’t deserve attention for all that work or that they’re not human but a machine to appease you all is pretty lowly behavior…
This is also…really ironic since art is one of the most human subjects…
……. I….. This is painful to read. Painful because of how home sticking this is. I’m terrified of trying to hard because it means I will be exposing myself to this. There will always be the yin with the yang, negative to take along side the positive. It doesn’t make it any less disturbing when it pops its ugly head up to say hello.
REBLOGGING THIS SHIT SOOOOOO HARD!!!!!!!
This isnt my exact experience but the basic lesson is a bit familiar. It’s disturbing to see people you have never met or ever previously been aware of discussing you in personal terms, projecting some bizarre shit thats just manifesting their own issues or taking anything you do as some direct focused insult to them personally. It sucks because this is why a lot of people stop being open and communicative with fans.
A lot of it comes from confirmation bias with a little self centered entitlement thrown in. They have already decided they dislike you so anything you do gets interpreted to support their “reasons”. You can’t win so stop seeing them as peers or people who have any real valuable input. Seek real wisdom and guidance from people who understand and have been/ are going on a similar path. Yes it is good to listen to opinions but some are are more about that person’s personal problems bubbling to the surface than something you can learn and benefit from.

1930s era women’s coat.
What interests me the most about this piece is that it’s designed in the style of the chokha, a traditional garment in Georgia (and more broadly throughout the Caucasus). The two rows of pockets across the upper chest were originally intended to hold ammunition, though presumably in this case they are purely decorative. The chokha was eventually adopted by cossack soldiers, who in turn inspired the creation of this coat for actress Mercedes de Acosta.
