Ask any woman who has tried to make this costume and they will say that the hat is one of the most difficult props to find. Originally, I had a child’s riding hat and eventually replaced with this proper fascinator (twas not cheap). I made the belt according to still frames from the movie. The Coat is a vintage piece and I added more button holes and buttons. Although I knew what the original scarf bead detail looks like on the bottom, I took the liberty to create something a little more gothic/dramatic. Almost everything was purchased from England and altered to fit my tiny measurements. Was one of the most expensive and challenging costumes I have accomplished.

I think my favorite part of this picture is the fact that her husband, Emperor Alexander III, is wearing a chokha.
