WHEN SHADOWS FALL
A Space Adventure
Excerpt One: The next day the young man came up into the ship true to his word stripped naked. Myra laughed when Russo came aboard, but she sobered when she saw his expression. Something or someone had scared him and he anxiously ran to get his clothes. He would never again laugh at anything which he encountered on that planet. Now when he came back in the room he said to her,“Cut it out,” for the love of God, cut it out!”Myra said she would and did, but she told him, you just keep expecting life to give you is a free ride and I hate you for it. I hate you for thinking that. No one gets a free ride, mister, nobody.”Excerpt Two: You sound like a pig, he said. Do you know that? Then he realized she had never heard of a pig. Oh come on, I don’t have all night. I hope your feet aren’t cold. She climbed into bed with him then and she hugged him tight. This wasn’t really so bad he thought as he felt the warmth of her body and the sweet smell of her breathe. Then he gasped as he felt the sharp thrust of a knife into his belly. He sighed or screamed. It was hard to tell with a soft hand over his mouth. He died that way, surprised and a little confused.Excerpt Three: This very last person it turned out was not a person at all. She had been inhabited and infested by a creature which had seduced others with its ways. One lone blood man went after Diana and was instructed to kill her.Excerpt Four: Space can be a desolate place. The gears, the mechanism of travel had been conquered years ago. But going through light years of space, and then going from galaxy to galaxy, it was still dangerous and exciting. Nothing should be more exciting than that and anybody looking for the carnal desire tryst was pretty much out of luck with experienced flyers like he was. She was experienced herself and he wondered why she even bothered with him. Then he thought of sabotage and thought he should tell someone.

Review of Robyn's Egg
Moyer Winfield probably couldn't believe what it would take to save his marriage. His wife, Robyn, wanted a baby. Easier said than done in this thriller about a world much like our own, except pumped up several degrees into a zone of futuristic horror. I personally liked Robyn's Eggby Mark Souza. He is a horror writer I found interesting when I read his short story "Road Kill" which appeared in the Anthology 101 Flash. But in Robyn's Egg, I got caught up in this loving couple's tremendous struggle to survive and to have a child. Just living was a struggle, much like in modern days, trying to make ends meet; they did not have the money to outright purchase a cloned baby. This was the only way, they were told because of the havocs on their world caused by biological warfare. As this couple seeks to enhance their love for each other through trying to live a normal life, they are drawn into a conspiracy of horror. I found how they handled these magnified capsules of difficult situations reminding me of an Orson Wells work, captivating, fantasy, and yet so real, it flat gave me chills.

BOOK REVIEW By Anna Patterson, Journalist
JULIE ANNE LINDSEY According to biographical data, Julie was "born and raised" in Ohio. She has lovingly used this knowledge of rural life in her Sweet Romance Novella BLOOM.
This novel which concerns the quest for fulfillment, from the large cities such as New York, back to the rural country life these people had found their roots and home in. The novella heralded the launch by Turquoise Morning Press of the new Honey Creek line in January of this year. Julie's future writing plans include three novellas for the Seeds of Love Series.
I like the writer's own explanation of herself. "I'd rather read a book than do almost anything else." But again, it is her own philosophy which explains why her book BLOOM is such a darling of a read. She says, "I started writing because I want to make people smile."
In the book, Cynthia Potter, comes back to town seeking many things. And she has some problems, serious ones to consider. She also has thoughts about some she had left in Honey Creek, when she left it many years ago. She is considering all of these issues along the way.
"She knew she was headed to New Yorklong before she got there." Now the young girl is seeking direction for her life and wonders if the answer to love was in Honey Creek, Ohio, with her first love. But a new man, Mitchell Fallon, a stranger to her, just keeps getting in her way, in more ways than one. Cynthia's life is going to take some twists and turns for sure if "Love is to bloom" for her.
I would have to give this book five stars. It did indeed make me smile many times, and I got drawn into these people's lives and wanted to see how they turned out. I liked the look of this rural way of life, but also enjoyed the realities of life in general these people were facing.
The Genre: Contemporary Romance. Heat level: Sweet
