As most of you are aware, Amazon has yet to re-publish my "No Easy Day"title. The last is that I agreed to rename it another name just so it can be published back in their stores. I have submitted a name that should make them happy. Okay gotta run, lots of work to do.

I responded with this email that reads: 


MY RESPONSE:

Dear Kindle:
I am disheartened that my account has been blocked for the reasons stated. I think that it is possible persons can put out work that may mislead but the definition of what is misleading may not be apparent, clear, or uniform. It is in this grey area that I am wondering what, according to Amazon, I am doing wrong?

First of all I hereby aver, assert and state unequivocally that I CONRAD POWELL shall not knowingly put up titles containing misleading METADATA.
I make this averment with the full knowledge that I am a part of the Amazon Community and I simply want the opportunity to have my works sold through the Amazon Channel. 

With that said, your email also stated that one example of my title with misleading metadata is No Easy Day (B00505B5EU). As a purely procedural point, may I remind you of what has occurred regarding this title. 

(1) On May 9, 2011, I published a book entitled Osama Bin Laden is not Dead. How President Barack Obama Faked Osama's Death (A work of Fiction).
(2) Sometime in August 2012, Mark Owen and Kevin Maurer released for pre-order the title called "No Easy Day: A Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama Bin Laden."
(3) On August 24, 2012, I republished my originally published work under the title "No Easy Day: A Fictional Account of the Mission that "Killed' Osama Bin Laden (B00929AIHK - No Easy Day: A Fictional Account of the mission that "Killed" Osama Bin Laden." 
(4) On August 29, Amazon emailed me and gave me notice that they blocked the sale of my book stating that 
"Hello,

During a quality assurance review of your KDP catalog we found that the cover image and description of the following book you have published is misleading to our customers.

B00929AIHK No Easy Day: A Fictional Account of the mission that "Killed" Osama Bin Laden

The above book has been removed from sale until you make the requested changes.

If you have any questions regarding our quality assurance review process, please write to kdp-quality@amazon.com.

(5) I made the requested change by removing (ASIN: B00929AIHK No Easy Day: A Fictional Account of the mission that "Killed" Osama Bin Laden and instead updated my other originally published work (ASIN: B00505B5EU) by going back to my original work (altering the cover and making the title simply say "NO EASY DAY."
(6) I re-submitted the ebook (ASIN: B00505B5EU) and Amazon accepted the book with notice by email dated : August 31, 2012 and stating:

"Hello from Amazon KDP!

The book "No Easy Day: A Fictional Account of the Mission That "Killed" Osama Bin Laden" you recently submitted to KDP has been published to the Kindle Store and is already available* for readers to purchase here."

(7) My book has been selling well with only 27 returns out of 269 sold.

(8) I am now given your correspondence email of Sep 18, 2012 informing me that my account is blocked and it names (ASIN: B00505B5EU) as an example of a title with misleading metadata.

I have a few questions that do not seem to make sense to me? if Amazon required me to make changes and I did, and then they accepted my new work. Why now Amazon want to block my account after they vetted the newly modified work and published it? What has occurred between that point and today to warrant Amazon's actions towards me? Interestingly enough, since the re-publication of my work, No Easy Op came out by Jack Murphy and others and the cover was strikingly similar to Mark Owen's No Easy Day except that it had a washout of Osama instead of a navy seal. Their book stayed on for weeks before I am presuming Amazon forced them to change their cover, which they did.

So what is it that Amazon wants me to do regarding my two works:

NO EASY DAY and Also NO EASY OP: A Lawyer's Analysis of the release of "No Easy Day: A Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama Bin Laden.

I was actually going to change my title from No Easy OP to NO EASY CASE. Also I have a different cover for my No Easy Case that should totally distinguish it from No Easy Day or No Easy Op. Please reinstate my account forthwith so that I make make the appropriate changes. Would that make amazon feel better and reinstate my account? As far as my No Easy Day title? Is it still the cover that is bothering you? I can republish a totally different cover. Please reinstate my account right away so I can make the changes that I am sure you will be pleased with.

I decided to tackle the No Easy Day controversy from a reasoned perspective. Hence I penned a work that reviews the mysterious Executive Order 12356 signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1982 and which has all the power in this Navy Seal controversy. In my new book, I discuss the Executive Order as well as review the Non-Disclosure Agreement (well at least a replica of it) that Mark Owen purportedly signed in January 2007.

FREE - my just written poem or whatever you want to call it inspired by Stevie Wonder's Song "Free"

I have been busily working on my new effort due out by tomorrow and I was listening to Stevie Wonder's Song "Free." Just search for the video on www.youtube.com After listening to it, I thought about how busy we often become that we forget to smell the roses. How we allow the doldrums of life to creep in and stifle our joy and peace of mind. How we needlessly suffer on this spinning ball when we could really have a better life. So I penned a small poem. I am not a poet, I repeat, I am not a poet but as a writer I wanted the statement inside to flow so here it is entitled "Free."

First of all, Amazon has capitulated and restored my book to their site, although with an altered cover. I am still selling the original cover on other major ebookstores. My numbers are looking promising. It appears folks want to read this book. I am really humbled by the response.

Interesting Development. CNN reported that Mark Owen (Owen being a fictitious pen name) never received Pentagon approval before making his book entitled "No Easy Day: A Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama Bin Laden." According to CNN, Pentagon officials are determining whether there may have been a breach of disclosure rules in relation to his not yet released book. Further, the Pentagon is concerned that the book may jeopardize the safety of his other Seals in relation to allegations that it revealed their identities etc. Well, my book NO EASY DAY would not suffer from this because it is totally FICTION. In fact, I pledge to the world that no Seals were harmed  in the making of my book. In fact, I was not even there. So there you have it.
