Monday Morning Washing in His Word

Psalm 113

Praise You!

I do!

Your name

Is blessed

Both now

And forevermore!

All day

Long I

Praise Your

Holy name!

You are

The only

High one

Watching down

Over me

Once poor

Ashes washed

I’m clean

You make

Me sit

With Your

People’s princes

And fill

My home

With many

Many children

Praise You!

I do!

FROM THE SWING FICTION FEATURE FRIDAY: A Time to Hate

by Ben Avery

Ben Avery’s tightly woven time travel leads us on a fast-paced and carefully crafted story following the discovery of “misplaced” Iridium aboard the Tabitha. When it turns up in the cargo bay Taur and the rest of the flight crew must figure out how it was done in the hope they may undo it before anyone is the wiser.

In a Time to Hate, as Taur unravels who is behind the theft, will her hatred of injustice be tempered by mercy as she learns just who “family” is? Only time will tell.

(If you like the characters in this short story, you will enjoy a longer read about them in Ghosts of the Future.)

You may read more about Ben here, here, or here.

Ben Avery edited this diverse, edgy, eclectic, thrilling, masterful anthology inspired by Ecclesiastes 3.

Of High

Steadfast love

Be exalted

He declares

Monday Morning Washing in His Word

Psalm 102

You hear

My cry

Of distress

With speed

Smoking days

Furnace burning

Bones and

Heart stricken

Wasted strength

Groaning skin

Lonely owl

Housetop wakefulness

Taunts and

Derisions assail

From lips

Of enemies

Ashes feed

Tears sustain

You lifted

You threw

My days

Do wither

But your

Throne endures

You rise

And show

Compassion and

Glorious appearing

You regard

Destitute’s prayer

And never

Despise it

Future generations

May praise

And know

He hears

Prisoners groans

Doomed people

So that…

His name

Is declared

His praise

Jerusalem resounding

The gathering

Will worship

My strength

Breaks midway

Shortened days

My lot

I cry

For more

Enduring one

Foundation layer

Heavens perish

You remain

You change

Them like

Temporal clothing

Yet…

Your servants

Children live

Secure with

Their offspring

Established in

Your presence.

To You

Filled with

Marvelous things

Your Victories

All the

Earth sees

Joyous song

With lyre

Sea roars

Floods clap

Hills sing

In harmony

At Your

Coming we

Sing for

Your righteousness

Apples of Gold

Proverbs 25:11

A word fitly H655 spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

אֹפֶן ʼôphen, o’-fen; from an unused root meaning to revolve; a turn, i.e. a season:— fitly.

The vivid imagery of this verse has been dancing in my thoughts the last few months, so much so that I was on the lookout for some artificial apples to spray paint gold and something silver to place them in.

I found both and took these photos.

I hope they encourage your heart as you wait on Him for wisdom and timing in your counsel to others.

Last year, dear ladies and writerly friends reached out and asked if I would like to be a regular writer on Across The Table.

While my heart thrilled, I knew I needed to pray and see if it was my Father’s will or not. And I knew when the answer came, it was, “Yes, for a year.”

Not an audible voice mind you, but an impression. The thumbprint I have learned to recognize as His. As we celebrate our one year anniversary at Across the Table, it is time for me to slide down the bench.

Why?

Some of the why I know. It’s time to start writing my fictional sequel to The Quickening. My friends who witnessed me writing the first novel can attest to the deep diving into historical details which compose a lot of my work. I knew I wasn’t supposed to start working on it until after my son’s wedding, which was in September… because the sequel has to do with the covenant of marriage and two of my main characters wedding.

Now, the story is starting to come together in my thoughts, and it is time to begin.

I would truly appreciate your prayers as I endeavor to dive deep into local history and His word, and back in to the fictional world of Shane, Audrey and the others.

It has been my heartfelt pleasure serving at Across the Table.

For everyone else, I appreciate your prayers as I begin to wade in to the sequel of The Quickening.

Monday Morning Washing in His Word

Psalm 93

Kingly Lord

Majestic robes

Strength-girded

World-establisher

Everlasting throne

Everlasting Lord

Flood roars

Praising You

Higher than

Mighty waters

More majestic

Than Sea-waves

Sure decrees

Holy house

O Lord, forevermore.
