Catholicism in Meudon

On the Parisian left bank, in the artsy rue de Seine, there is a shop that sells only old advertising posters. There I saw this one displayed on the train line from Paris (at the Invalides) to Versailles from the late 19th century. The scenes depicted of the two viaducts and the little station are in Meudon, the leafy suburb halfway between Paris and Versailles where I live today; hence my interest in this poster. The interested reader can learn much more about Meudon at my Substack post.

The s...

Why Conscription Is Coming Back and What You Can Do About It

International Man: UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently pledged to bring back mandatory national service.

The German government has also mulled reinstating compulsory military service. In Ukraine, it’s not uncommon for government agents to forcibly kidnap civilians off the streets and send them to the front.

These are a few recent examples. There seems to be a clear trend of governments preparing their citizens for some sort of mandatory national service.

Is conscription coming back in the Wes...

The US/ISRAEL Protocol of Punishment and Sanctions

When the US sanctions person’s, businesses, or a country, the unstated is that ALL countries must simultaneously abide by the US.  IF a country does not, then the US will sanction said country and all remaining countries must abide by the US.  This is called International Law via America representing the globe.

Similarly, The Vienna Convention is considered an international treaty wherein diplomats are endowed with immunity from criminal and civil activity while in another country.   116 countri...

Norinchukin Bank: Canary in the Japanese Banking System?

Norinchukin is a farming and fishing cooperative bank, which invests its balances in bonds. This practice is shared by other Japanese banks for whom lending margins became severely compressed by the BOJ’s negative interest rate policy.

The following is extracted from a Nikkie Asia report earlier today (18 June):

Norinchukin Bank will sell more than 10 trillion yen ($63 billion) of its holdings of U.S. and European government bonds during the year ending March 2025 as it aims to stem its losses f...

A Terribly Lopsided, Very Cruel War Continues

As I write this, in the last 15 days, Israel has bombed a tent city and a UN school and has killed 276 Palestinian non-combatants in a mid-day raid to gain the release of four Israelis being held as hostages.

Almost 400 people were killed in the three actions, with many hundreds more wounded. In the hostage retrieval, 64 Palestinian children and 57 women were killed.

The UN has reported that more than 37,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war in Gaza started, with over 38% (about 14,000...

A Pragmatic Alliance

Last weekend the conservative organization Turning Point USA hosted a major convention in Detroit featuring top conservative figures like Vivek Ramaswamy, Kristi Noem, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Charlie Kirk (the founder of Turning Point). The big draw was Donald Trump as the keynote speaker. What I saw at the convention was instructive for understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the Conservative Movement as it pertains to saving this nation.

Attending this event was a novel experience. I...

Washington Weaponized Domestic Law and Its ‘Rules-Based-Order’

Merrick Garland, Biden’s specialist in using law as a weapon against Donald Trump and his supporters, recently described in the Washington Post, a CIA asset, his critics as conspiracy theorists who are undermining trust in the Department of Justice (sic).

Many Americans have a different view. Garland, claiming “executive privilege,” covers up the Justice (sic) Department’s refusal to indict Joe Biden for the same offense for which Trump has been indicted by preventing the release of special coun...

The Glue Binding Democracy and a Free Economy Has Melted

And that’s how democracy and a free economy die.

An astute reader asked me to clarify the difference between individual sacrifice and shared sacrifice in the context of the Common Good, which as he rightly noted, dictatorships use as the justification for oppressive enforcement of a regime that benefits the few at the expense of the many.

In a democracy with a free economy, the Common Good is the responsibility of the citizenry, not a dictatorship. In the current zeitgeist, the Invisible Hand of...

Everything in Our Civilization Is Stacked To Keep Us Believing the Propaganda

It’s not so much that people buy into the mainstream propaganda worldview because humans are dumb, or because humans are selfish. Primarily, people buy into the mainstream propaganda worldview because humans are lazy.

By this I don’t mean to say that people don’t work hard enough or don’t stay busy enough; humans sleep less than any other primate on earth, and if anything the world would probably be better off if our species chilled out a bit. When I say people are lazy, I mean we are lazy think...
