The Ron Paul Future

Writes Terry Neudorf from Canada:

I want you to know just how much your site has inspired me. I read it every morning. Heck, if I'm honest, I read it way more often than that. I have spent an inordinate amount of time reading LRC, and following everything Ron Paul in the last 3 months. To the point where sometimes I kick myself and say, "You idiot, WHY?".

Then I remind myself that my grandchildren won't know who Gingrich was. Or Romney, Santorum, or most other flash-in-the-pan men and women who for the lust of power thought themselves a centerpiece of history, only to be relegated to the dustbins of history only weeks, months, or maybe even a few years later. But when the name Ron Paul is mentioned to my grandchildren, a smile will creep across their faces, and they will recall, and speak with excited tones about a time where an idea was born, a message was spread, and a revolution took hold that shook the world. That's the time I'm living in right now. I will treasure every moment.

Thanks for all you do.

The Mystery of the SC Primary

Writes Ralph Raico:

In the War Between the States, many tens of thousands of heroic Southerners died defending their new country against the invaders from the North.

But ever since Appomattox, a strange thing has happened. In a kind of "Stockholm Syndrome"---where victims identify with their persecutors---the South has been the most bellicose champion of whatever wars the men in Washington decided to embroil the country in. Before the Second World War, for instance, the America First Committee was never able to gain a toehold south of the Mason-Dixon Line, though it had mass support in the Northeast, in the Mountain States, and throughout the great Midwest.

Strange that Southerners should choose to betray their own ancestors, who witnessed the murderous invasion and the ruthless destruction of their land. Maybe they just like to get into fights?

Murderers for Jesus Win in SC

According to CNN:

Gingrich 41%

Romney 27%

Santorum 17%

Paul 13%

These figures will change, but SC primaries have never been a good for champions of peace and capitalism. The SC Republican party is the home of Lindsey Graham, after all. And warmonger Gingrich got $5 million from a multi-billionaire who is also the chief funder of a foreign pro-war politician and political party. In any event, Ron will do 4-5 times better than he did last time, and will rally all the good people in America around him for the future, in an all-out, hard-fought, long-term effort. This campaign is just getting going, especially in the caucus states. The Ron Paul movement as well has only begun.

Bill 'Purge Ron Paul' Kristol

Writes Tom Woods:

Bill 'All Hail Obama!' Kristol recently said Ron Paul ought to leave the GOP over his foreign-policy views. Americans can't be allowed a choice on this. They need two interventionist parties, both spewing the same propaganda that would insult a third-grader. That's freedom, baby.

It would be better for Republicans for Ron just to go, says Kristol, since of course it's much better to field candidates who can't inspire a dozen people to show up at their rallies, much less incite them to read Bastiat, Hayek, and Mises. Smart young kids infiltrating the party? The horror!

On Kristol's record of political predictions, and what would be good for whom, I refer you to this great compilation over at the Atlantic. Bill doesn't seem to be in a position to advise any party on much of anything, it turns out. (Thanks to J.M. for the link.)

Not to mention this funny compilation of Kristolisms about Iraq:
