Inside Report on AZ

Writes Doug Wead:

"We are trying to make nice.  Like our attempt to 'give' [Romney] the delegation from Arizona, an offer his man refused to [t]ake.  So after three attempts to give him a majority we reluctantly won instead, thank you."

More from the Rev. Wead:

"[I]n Phoenix, Arizona, cocky Romney forces led by Nathan Sproul saw defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.  Ironically, the Ron Paul forces came to the state GOP convention to play nice.  They offered a deal.  'You know our knack for organizing?' they said, 'You know we have the numbers? Why don’t we make sure there are no surprises and nothing embarrassing.  Your candidate has the nomination, we will give you 50% plus one of the delegation to Tampa, that gives you the majority, and let us have a nice delegation of the leftovers for our man too.'

"But no.  The Mitt Romney forces insisted on scorched earth.  'You can have one,' they said."

Why Has Romney Been Able To Close the Gender Gap?

In part, because Romney is so much better looking than Obama.

Americans-Elect Don't

The 3rd-party group will not run a presidential candidate in 2012.

My Message to the GOP Establishment

You people are complaining, as usual, about anyone who challenges  your entrenched and corrupt power, but now especially the Paulians, who are idealistic and dedicated to freedom. Do you want good relations with these wonderful people, who have donated millions of dollars and millions of hours to the greatest cause? Treat them with respect. Follow your own rules. Eschew shenanigans. Stop lying, cheating, and stealing. Then, maybe, you will be worthy to be in the same room with members of the Ron Paul grassroots.

'Ron Paul’s Message to the GOP'

Says Politico:

"Ron Paul sent a message to the GOP establishment Monday that he’s not looking to cause mayhem at this summer’s Republican National Convention.

"By announcing that he won’t compete in the remaining primaries, Paul tacitly assured the party that he didn’t intend to disrupt the likely Tampa coronation of Mitt Romney....

"'The Paul folks have clearly shown a willingness to be part of the team that wins,” one national GOP source said. “They get it....'

"Paul campaign leaders have been in discussions with representatives from both the Romney campaign and the Republican National Committee. They earlier consented to a joint fundraising arrangement between the RNC and Romney....

"'We’ll do everything we can to get our people to be cooperative,' [Doug] Wead added....

"Forty-five percent of Paul supporters said they would vote for Romney in the general election, and 39 percent said they would vote to reelect Obama. When libertarian Gary Johnson is thrown into the mix, 16 percent say they’ll vote for him with Obama dropping to 35 percent and Romney dropping to 31 percent."

Read it all.

RP Campaign Will No Longer Contest Primaries

Writes Ron Paul:

"As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much.  And I am so proud of what we have accomplished.  We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.

"This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible.  But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election.  It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined.  It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win.

"Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process.  We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.

"Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted.  [Emphasis added.] Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have.  I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.

"I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved - become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions.  I will be right there with you.  In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned."

'Hostile Takeovers' of State Conventions

While civil conduct is always best--we should strive to imitate Ron Paul--it is not hard to understand the grassroots reaction to the lying, cheating, stealing GOP bosses. Nor can a change in leadership be friendly, whether we are talking about a small precinct or a national convention or anything in between. Those in power do not want to be displaced, and their hatred is palpable.
