Let Him Arrest Me!

Late Monday afternoon, we were treated to a series of bizarre interviews on nearly every major cable television channel except Fox when a colorful character named Sam Nunberg, a former personal and political aide to Donald Trump, took to the airwaves to denounce a grand jury subpoena he received compelling the production of documents and live testimony.

The grand jury is one of two summoned by special counsel Robert Mueller in his investigation of whether President Trump or his colleagues eng...

How To Grow Your Own Food

Gardening is one of the top prepper skills needed for survival. Learning how to grow your own food is not something you want to do after a disaster has happened. I can speak from experience when I say there is a lot to learn and you will make a lot of gardening mistakes. Better to make them now when your world is pretty stable than when you’re just trying to survive day by day following a worst case scenario.

If you count my first year (which I often don’t), this will be my fourth year garden...

Do You Prefer To Shoot a 9mm?

Recently, Guns.com profiled a standout 9mm brand, Full Stop. After testing and being quite impressed with the brand, it was disappointing to learn it’s not yet on retail shelves. Here are three other brands that, in this writer’s estimation, are worth consideration in feeding your 9mm pistol, yet don’t have the notoriety of larger brands.

Precision Delta hasn’t let me down

For defensive or competitive use, Precision Delta’s PDP Pro 124 grain JHP packs a punch. I’ve been using it this year for...

Facebook’s ‘Secret’ File on You Is Big

Facebook’s user data gathering prowess has been common knowledge for some time now, but one journalist’s impromptu experiment suggests it is even more ubiquitous and pervasive than previously believed. Nick Whigham, a reporter for the New Zealand Herald, decided to test out a feature on Facebook that allows users to download a ‘secret’ file showing how much personal history the company has gathered about them. What he discovered is that Facebook not only has disturbingly vast consumer profile...

Restoring World Bipolarity

While the experts were wondering about the possible evolution of the world order towards a multipolar system, or even a simple tripolar system, the sudden advances of Russian military technology force the return to a bipolar organisation. Let’s take another look at what we have learned over the last three years, until the President Putin’s revelations on 1 March 2018.

In the second quarter of 2012, Russia and its allies agreed to deploy a peace force in Syria as soon as the Geneva agreement w...

My First Day as CIA Director

Now that I have been nominated again – this time by author Paul Craig Roberts – to be CIA director, I am preparing to hit the ground running.

Last time my name was offered in nomination for the position – by The Nation publisher Katrina vanden Heuvel – I did not hold my breath waiting for a call from the White House. Her nomination came in the afterglow of my fortuitous, four-minute debate with then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, when I confronted him on his lies about the attack on Iraq,...

Stunning Anti-Establishment Victory

If there is a European election, and the anti-establishment parties score a stunning victory (as just happened in Italy, and a few months prior, in Austria), who’re you gonna blame? Vladimir Putin (of course)!

That’s what Samantha Power, one of the top diplomats in the Obama administration, did when she shared an article by Spain’s El Pais newspaper about how Russia predetermined the outcome of Sunday’s election by spinning an immigration discourse in Italy: “Italy’s joins long list of electi...

Trade and the Rise of Freedom

[This speech was delivered at the Mises Institute’s conference on “The History of Liberty.”]

It is not an exaggeration to say that trade is the keystone of modern civilization. For as Murray Rothbard wrote: “The market economy is one vast latticework throughout the world, in which each individual, each region, each country, produces what he or it is best at, most relatively efficient in, and exchanges that product for the goods and services of others. Without the division of labor and the tra...

Of Course, You Can Be Armed

Justin’s note: On February 14, 17 people lost their lives in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Sadly, tragedies like this routinely happen in the United States. Every time they do, Americans demand radical reforms. And for once, the government’s delivering.

President Trump has already said that he wants to ban the sale of bump stocks. And he thinks teachers and coaches should carry firearms in schools.

That’s a controversial suggestion. Some people think...

Running the Gauntlet With Paul Gottfried

I taught college for twenty years and can’t imagine walking down the hallway to class past a phalanx of students holding signs accusing me of such things as “racism,” “hate,” and “fascism.” I did not even want to be confronted about their grades on papers and routinely told students to wait until after class to discuss such matters.

I was therefore quite impressed by the way Paul Gottfried, Horace Raffensberger Professor of Humanities Emeritus, Elizabethtown College, handled such students lin...
