Major Rapper Attacks Me

This is a juicy one, folks.

For 12 straight hours, and now again today, rapper Taleb Kweli — who’s evidently a big deal, though I hadn’t heard of him — went on the attack against me, and against some of my followers.

It was bizarre.

On my entrepreneurship email list I wrote about some business lessons I drew from this.

It began when someone linked to my lecture on Hitler’s views of economics, in order to demonstrate to Talib that Hitler wasn’t really a free-market guy.

Instead of evaluating m...

Russia Hysteria Undercuts Our Values

The mainstream media and out-of-touch politicians and bureaucrats want us to believe that the Cold War never ended, it’s a crime to talk with a Russian, and we should all be fearful of any Russians here in the U.S. Apparently our $21 trillion national debt, lack of border security, and the threat of radical Islamic terrorism pale in comparison to the grave threat posed by Russia.

This is yet another example of the disconnect between Beltway talking heads and the American people. Hard-working...

Better To Dream

Gstaad—I need it like Boris needs a bleach job. Another birthday, that is. Birthdays tend to make one’s life pass before him in a flash. As it does, I imagine, while facing a firing squad, or a samurai intending harm. I mention the latter because I recently dreamed of living in a feudal society where samurai ruled supreme. And how happy I was until I woke up. Now soulless bureaucrats rule instead of samurai, and it makes for a crappier world.

Looking back—not much point in looking ahead, is t...

How US Sugar Subsidies Bring a Red Tide

ABC News reports that “Toxic red tide blooms are creeping up Florida’s west coast, killing marine life and irritating humans.” The red (or maroonish) tide is truly a nasty problem that I have experienced first-hand in the form of a ruined vacation.

It is a potentially toxic algae to wildlife when it occurs in high concentrations. The Karenia brevis algae can be a threat to fish, birds, and even manatee. At least 92 manatees have been killed so far and at least one whale shark! This creates co...

The Three-headed Monster

The faction that used to be the Democratic party can be described with some precision these days as a three-headed monster driving the nation toward danger, darkness, and incoherence. Anyone interested in defending what remains of the sane center of American politics take heed:

The first head is the one infected with the toxic shock of losing the 2016 election. The illness took hold during the campaign that year when the bureaucracy under President Obama sent its lymphocytes and microphages i...

The Alex Jones Ban

Justin’s note: In today’s Conversations With Casey, Doug Casey and I discuss one of today’s biggest stories—the Alex Jones media ban.

Jones, as you may know, is a popular right-wing voice. He also founded Infowars, a far-right media outlet.

Last week, Apple, Facebook, YouTube, and the music streaming service Spotify all banned Infowars. On Wednesday, Twitter followed suit by suspending Jones for seven days after he asked Trump to “take action against web censorship.”

As a result, Infowars is...

If You Want To Survive This Election

If you want to preserve your sanity and avoid unhappy derangement, turn off all corporate and social media from now to Thanksgiving.

Since elections are extremely profitable for traditional media / social media corporations, your sanity will gleefully be sacrificed in the upcoming election–if you are gullible enough to watch the “news” and tune into social media. Elections are extremely profitable because candidates spend scads of cash on media adverts.

The greater the discord and derangement...

Why Do Some Libertarians

For the life of me, I cannot understand why some libertarians support Social Security. Why do they call for fixing and reforming it instead of abolishing it?

What gives with that? Don’t libertarians oppose socialism?

Libertarians certainly are not hesitating to criticize the Democrat Party’s new congressional nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for being a “democratic socialist.” The same goes for her political mentor U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, who has long labeled himself a socialist.

Indeed,...

How Desperate Is Elon?

Elon can’t sell his cars – so he is suing to make people buy them.

Or at least, suing to compel the government to keep on paying people to buy them – if that distinction amounts to any meaningful difference.

Canada had a law – like the one in the U.S. – which greatly subsidized the individual purchase of Teslas and other electric cars via rebates bestowed upon those who did buy them. These purchaser subsidies amounted to several thousand dollars each, and worth a lot more to Tesla, et al, sin...

Facebook Censored Me

Facebook said my post’s image of a violent FBI raid ‘incorrectly triggered our automation tools.’ But it wasn’t the first time an iconic image vanished.

Responding to Russian-funded political advertisements, Facebook chairman Mark Zuckerberg declared last month that “we will do our part to defend against nation states attempting to spread misinformation.” But Facebook is effectively sowing disinformation by kowtowing to foreign regimes and censoring atrocities such as ethnic cleansing in Myan...
