Done!

I finally did it. After months of work I rewrote my book Flipping the Bird: Gestures Not to Use in Foreign Countries. Cleaned it, polished it, tightened it and made it easier to read. Corrected the mistakes I overlooked. The job took ages, but it was a labor of love.

In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom

I just finished reading this book written by the young North Korean, Yeon-mi Park. I was blown away by this woman's bravery and her candid style of writing. What a way to grow up...unbelievable. Even if you don't like to read memoirs, read this one!

Tale of captivity

I've finished reading Red Runs the River Kwai by Cornel Lumiere. He was a prisoner in a Japanese-run internment camp in Burma from 1942-45. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you're interested in the Second World War, it's a gripping book. It's astonishing that he walked out of the Southeast Asian jungle alive after this ordeal.
