Hero Reflection
I recently finished reading Karen Marie Moning's Fever series (which I will blog about at length another day) and was totally blown away by the hero she created for it — Jericho Barrons. He is…well, he's something pretty amazing. It made me think about my own heroes, which I do like to do since I [...]

A cautionary tale
Wow… I had a serious, um, adventure over the last couple of days. My site got hacked and compromised and shut down by google, which posted a lovely "this is an attack site!" warning up front. Let me tell you…not fun! I learned that my web host (Dreamhost) is absolutely no help in situations like [...]

Familiar – now available
I'm happy to announce that FAMILIAR, the young adult short story I wrote for the Kiss Me Deadly anthology last year, is now available as a stand alone download from Kindle and Smashwords. When reluctant teen witch Brenda Collins is sent by her mother to a magical pet shop to pick out her animal familiar, [...]

New cover + update
Happy Easter! I'm restraining myself from eating any chocolate eggs since I'm back on the Jenny Craig wagon and trying to be a good girl with a shrinking waistline. TRYING HARD. I received my cover for THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC and I'm really liking it. Darrak's pretty hot, I have to admit it! Here's what [...]

The Winners!
Thank you to everyone who entered my photo contest for the chance to win one of two signed ARCs of BLOODLUST. Check out some of the entries on my Facebook page to see some great shots — many of which seemed to be cats and dogs with great taste in books. As I said before, [...]

Bloodlust ARC photo contest
I have two signed ARCs (Advance Reading Copies) of BLOODLUST (Nightshade #2) up for grabs. Jillian and Declan's further adventures will not be available at bookstores until July 5th so this is your chance to read it much earlier than that! But I want to do something a little different. Normally I'll pick at random [...]

Words, glorious words
This post might only be of interest to aspiring authors, but I wanted to do it. It's always been an obsession of mine when it comes to writing. Yes, the eternally exciting subject of WORD COUNT. How much is enough? How much is too much? Amazon used to have a "search inside the book" option [...]

The status of the Demon Princess series
Since I get a lot of mail about this as well as questions on Facebook and Twitter, I thought I'd do a blog post that I can point people to when they have questions on this topic. There seem to be a lot of misconceptions about what's happening and who's in control so I thought [...]

Update from the Rowenverse
It's been a really busy year so far and I've been totally neglecting the blog! Thought I'd do an update post. First off, I've mentioned before that I was working on a secret project in recent months. Well, I can talk publicly about it now — mostly because I finished the manuscript on Monday. I [...]

League auctions and viral videos
*** Cross-posted from The League of Reluctant Adults *** Happy St. Patrick's Day! I am currently in what writers affectionately call "deadline hell." I have a book due in four days and am working very hard to meet that deadline, which means I'm a hermit in a bathrobe who isn't going anywhere except for twitter. [...]
