Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-08-29

Nancy read trashy romance novels only when on the toilet, feeling that it, and some prune juice, aided her ability to pass difficult stools. #

Eva Lilly, Witch, and Twitter

I have gotten a bit sidetracked in finishing "Witch" due in no small part to the birth of my daughter, Eva Lilly, on 23 May.

She is beautiful to be sure.

She has also turned out to be an inspiration on "Witch".

The wife has been after me to write down Eva's birth story, and while doing so, I realised that birth held all the grotesque and weird imagery that I excel in describing. Birth is an amazing thing, but it sure as hell ain't beautiful. As my wife said 8 hours into labour, "This is fucked u...

New Cover – Story Coming Soon

[image error]I've gotten stuck on this fucking story. I just didn't like my protagonist. Mainly because I am cannibalizing Dog Heavy to write Witch, and Carl from Dog Heavy is a sociopathic asshole. That's not what I want for Witch.

I think I have finally got his persona down and maybe, just maybe, I can finally get on task with this piece.

In any case, as a distraction, I have made the cover. Reckon it's my best one yet. Of course, now I am forced to work that bloody tree stump into the story somehow.

Dog Heavy – Chapter 8

[image error] "Pump two's on."
The voice echoed out in the service bay creeping between the fuel bowsers and seemed to cower underneath the beat-up wagon.
One of the florescent bulbs in the canopy above him flickered, as if it were sending out a distress call. Across the road, the security lights of a Credit Union winked back semaphorically. Carl could see down the long extent of highway unfolding away from him. Low-pressure lamps bordered the roadway in a procession towards downtown, coating the night in a...

Adverbially

Adverbs are the illegal immigrants of the parts of speech. They look vaguely exotic, but not so much so as to be able to pick them out without checking their ID. They do a lot of under-appreciated heavy lifting. They are supposedly bad, but no one is really sure why. And Americans in particular are overly preoccupied with them.

But what's wrong with stumbling drunkenly and screaming incoherently and bleeding uncontrollably? Is that so bad?

Dog Heavy – Chapter 7

The fat husband came into the room, his dick small and flaccid nearly hidden in a bush of a pubic hair. Rolls of flab settled around his middle like a robe of flesh while beads of sweat chased each other into the creases of his bulk. His breathing was loud and labored. Sandy thought of a beast trapped in a zoo, bloated and gross. Fat on scraps thrown into its cage by gawking children. Once lean and dangerous, but now dull and obese. Sandy watched as he gathered his clothes into a pile. He...

Dog Heavy – Chapter 6

[image error]Sandy watched the passing scenery with little interest. It seemed as if the landscape was scrolling past. Repeating itself in an endless loop of dry scrubland, red dirt and yucca. A zoetrope of wasteland.

Troughton punched the buttons on the radio, flipping through the stations. Hisses of static flowed from the speakers punctuated by the yammering of an excited preacher delivering his sermon.

"The Lord Jesus came down from Heaven to walk among us! The Lord Jesus came down from Heaven to save...

Dog Heavy – Chapter 5

Troughton was drunk and stumbling towards the bar to order another beer when he noticed the whore at the table in the corner. Her skirt riding high above her knees, and her tits shoved roughly into a sequined blue tube top. Long stringy legs sprung gangly under the table and she uncrossed them giving Troughton the briefest glimpse of black lace.

He ordered two Miller High Life's, paid, and walked over to the whore's table.

"The champagne of beers," he said pulling up a chair and setting a...
