Dumb Things I have Done

[image error]My next book, Ravishing in Red, will be released on January 26. (See today's contest below for an ARC). It opens with the heroine taking a bold action on behalf of her dead father. Unfortunately, things do not turn out quite the way she had planned.

Even before disaster strikes, she is having second thoughts. She knows that proper young women should not do this. She knows it is risky. She knows that there are those who would say this was a dumb-ass thing to do.

I expect to get at least one...

Christmas Gift Brainstorming

[image error]You may think that I am jumping the gun with a Christmas post, but I really am not. For me gift buying season is not only underway already, it is almost over. I have nail this down early because I have to mail the gifts. So right about now every year I get antsy and nervous, and hear time ticking.

My dream is to come up with clever gifts. Distinctive. Something the BIL will think is cool but he would  not have thought to buy himself. This is hard, and I have had more misses than hits over the ...

Girl Talk

Have you noticed that friendships have levels? There are friends you go to lunch with, and others you only see as half of a couple when you socialize with her and her husband. There are the ones you draw lines with, and others you [image error]would tell anything to.

I have some friends who know almost nothing about my history. They are recent, casual, and maybe not permanent. One never knows about that. It is possible those friendships will develop, and move to the next level.

The Older Man

My very first experience with romance novels was a bust. I did not "get it", even though I found the historical setting fascinating. I did not find the hero compelling. Frankly, he scared me.

[image error]He was an older man to me. I was about twenty and the hero was about thirty-five, and this was old-school historical romance. All that alpha, domineering, overtly sexual stuff alarmed me. He was too much like my last bad date. I was at a real disadvantage with him.

My tastes changed as I got older. A lot. ...
