Peri McQuay became committed to nature through the inspiration and teaching of her Canadian artist parents, Ken Phillips and Marie Cecilia Guard.

For thirty years Peri and her conservation educator husband Barry took joy in living and working at Foley Mountain. This eight-hundred-acre conservation area of granite ridges, beaver ponds and towering pines overlooks the beautiful little village of Westport in eastern Ontario.

Currently she lives, and writes, at Singing Meadow, near the shores of Bobs Lake.

Deeply committed to nature, art, and social justice, she is the author of three published books.

Welcome to my new blog, Small, With Great Love

Welcome to my new blog, Small, With Great Love These are my depth years. My question in later life is: What remains? Although I no longer can range widely, what I am challenged to do is to go ever deeper into my surroundings. And, even as I learn the hard lessons of aging, what a rich life I am finding. Always, I am grounded in nature, my true home. Expect to find: My experience in understanding,

Peri’s Recent Updates

Peri McQuay is now following
The Farmer's Wife by Helen Rebanks
"This book really touched on some tender places for me as a stay at home mom. Absolutely relatable and giving dignity to work that so often goes unnoticed. Helen I am so thankful that you decided to tell this story."

Thich Nhat Hanh
“A real love letter is made of insight, understanding, and compassion. Otherwise it's not a love letter. A true love letter can produce a transformation in the other person, and therefore in the world. But before it produces a transformation in the other person, it has to produce a transformation within us. Some letters may take the whole of our lifetime to write.”
Thich Nhat Hanh, Your True Home: The Everyday Wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh

L.M. Montgomery
“I wonder if it will be—can be—any more beautiful than this,’ murmured Anne, looking around her with the loving, enraptured eyes of those to whom ‘home’ must always be the loveliest spot in the world, no matter what fairer lands may lie under alien stars.”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of the Island

Matsuo Bashō
“Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.”

Gaston Bachelard
“Of course, thanks to the house, a great many of our memories are housed, and if the house is a bit elaborate, if it has a cellar and a garret, nooks and corridors, our memories have refuges that are all the more clearly delineated. All our lives we come back to them in our daydreams. A psychoanalyst should, therefore, turn his attention to this simple localization of our memories. I should like to give the name of topoanalysis to this auxiliary of pyschoanalysis. Topoanalysis, then would be the systematic psychological study of the sites of our intimate lives.”
Gaston Bachelard

“What you seek is seeking you.”
