And then my husband tells me…

…that Seraphina was reviewed in the Washington Post! I guess I can’t not link to that.

Musical interlude

The closer we get to Seraphina‘s release date, the more reviews are popping up all over the internet. They’re like pea shoots, curling out of the soil. There are actually more than I can easily link to anymore.

I will link to some of my favourites, I promise, but today I’d like to hare off in a different direction for a bit. Surely it gets tedious to hear about me all the time? Right?

So okay, last fall my favourite Irish singer… no, no, why qualify that? My favourite singer period, the inimita...

Ten dumbfounding facts about me

These went up at Book Chick City while I was out of town, and I failed to notice until after I’d already posted yesterday. But if anyone’s interested in ten amusing and largely silly facts about me, here they are.

One thing I failed to mention, but could have, is that I am completely incapable of resisting a jigsaw puzzle. My son recently got a jigsaw puzzle of the Rosetta stone. It’s either extremely cool or it’s going to make me go blind from squinting at tiny Greek letters. Probably both.

Happy Canada Day!

I am back from my top-secret vacation to an undisclosed location, and just in time for Canada Day. Happy birthday to my beloved second homeland. You don’t look a day over 145!

In honour of that, and of this month being the final countdown to my book release, Seraphina gets a nice mention in a post onHidden Canadian Gems at Badass Book Reviews. Thanks, AH!

Also, thanks to Rebecca at Book Chick Cityfor this lovely review. It went up a few days ago, while I was still off the radar.

As the month pro...

This morning’s madrigal

We’re singing this one in choir. In fact, we sound EXACTLY like this.

Well, almost exactly. Our choir has one excessively enthusiastic alto who sings her fa-la-las with a great deal of vigour. No, no one you know. *ahem*

I am likely to be offline for the next week. Be excellent to each other in my absence. The flowers and fa-la-las should sufficiently send care packing, til no mirth be lacking. Or some such. Catch you later, darlings!

Today’s excitement

Seraphina is mentioned in the Summer Reading for Kids list at SheKnows.com — along with our old friend Dragons Love Tacos! Coincidence? I think not. It is the year of the dragon, after all.

The book also got a very nice mention at Shurtugal, a Christopher Paolini fan site. Thanks so much, you guys! I hope Inheritance fans will enjoy Seraphina as well!

Remember me filming some video interviews when I was in New York? Sure you do! Well the first of those, from fabulous vlogger Liz at Elizziebooks...

Third post in one day

It’s like Saturnalia around here today, all these wonderful things at once!

Here is a review and interview from Jennifer Brown at Shelf Awareness. I had so much fun talking to her. There is literally an hour’s good conversation, condensed into that published interview.

More exciting news!

Entertainment Weekly’s online book blog, Shelf Life, has just put up the book trailer for Seraphina! Go watch it! I love it unreservedly!

The post also features a short story I wrote, set a month or two before the book, for your reading amusement. Enjoy!

Today at Random Acts of Reading

I have a guest post up! It’s all about what it was like writing Seraphina, and there’s even an introduction from my fabulous editor. Go, read! Perhaps I shall convert you all to Morning Personism, ha ha.

Another nice review

Here’s a really fun review – and pretty spoiler-free – at A Nudge in the Right Direction. What I particularly appreciate about this one is that it’s written as a dialogue between two sisters, Krispy and Alz. Their banter reminds me of my own sisters!

(I am now scouring their blog for evidence that they’re sisters and not finding it. Why did I think they were sisters? Maybe they’re not. They TALK like sisters, though!) (Right, talk. Because I can hear their voices! OK, time to quit while I’m ah...
