Elena V. Barkhatova (Russian: Елена Валентиновна Бархатова) is an art critic and photography historian. She holds a Ph.D. in art history and serves as head of the department of prints at the National Library of Russia. She is the author of more than seventy publications, including Russian Light Painting: The First Century of Photography, 1839–1914 (Русская светопись. Первый век фотоискусства 1839–1914) and Constructivism in the Soviet Poster (Конструктивизм в советском плакате).

Barkhatova has been a participant of numerous Russian and international exhibition projects and curator of exhibitions dedicated to the fine arts of Russia.
