What the Negro League can teach us about our economy

Those who invested in the Negro League, and now in an equitable and inclusive economy, are creating a true meritocracy.

I am a huge baseball fan, so World Series time is one of my favorite times of the year, especially when my Yankees are playing. (Yes—I’m a Yankees fan. Winners can handle the hate.) I went to my first game at Shea Stadium to see the Yankees play the Senators and played stickball in Lefferts Park imagining I would pitch for the Yankees someday.

The typo make us humna

Embrace your quirks—AI can’t replace them.

In our ever-changing and seemingly chaotic world, the typo, that simple yet ubiquitous mistake that everyone everywhere makes occasionally, is still too often deemed as the ultimate death knell for too many potential hires, projects, and deals.

TikTok users want to know who their favorite influencers voted for in the election

Should we expect political activism from people whose job involves posting their Sephora hauls and workout routines?

The filibuster has been a thorn in Democrats’ side. Now it’s their last hope

Two years ago, Democrats nearly toppled the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation. But with an incoming Republican majority in the Senate, it may be their only tool to fight against a conservative agenda.

For years, key members of the Democratic Party have been pushing for filibuster reform. According to one 2021 tally, 46 Democratic senators expressed an openness to transforming the filibuster, which prevents legislative action without a supermajority of 60 votes. And in 2022, Democratic Senators Jeff Merkley and Elizabeth Warren pushed for changes to the filibuster to pass key pieces of their agenda, such as voting rights legislation. But those efforts fell flat, largely because of opposition from Democratic Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who argued that eliminating or substantively tweaking the filibuster would create a more partisan Senate.
