A Texas startup called Knowingly Corp. has acquired the site's domain name and archives.

Gigaom, the well-regarded technology news and analysis site that shut down abruptly in March, appears set for an August relaunch.

Google's Hiroshi Lockheimer On The Present And Future Of Android And Chrome OS

The engineer in charge of Google's operating systems says they're both similar and different—and add up to an overarching vision.

In 2005, software engineer Hiroshi Lockheimer got a call from Andy Rubin, his former boss at Danger Research, the creator of the Sidekick (aka Hiptop), the first truly web-savvy smartphone. Rubin was now at Google, which had recently acquired his new startup. Lockheimer was working on Internet TV software for Microsoft, after stops at Palm and Good Technology.

Android For Your Car's Dashboard Is Now Available In The Hyundai Sonata

The Android Auto navigation and entertainment system rolls out this week, with the goal of making your dashboard more like a smartphone.

Starting today, car buyers have the option to purchase a car—specifically, a 2015 Hyundai Sonata—with Android built right in. Android Auto, first announced a year ago, brings the Android interface to a touchscreen in the center of the dashboard. The 2015 Hyundai Sonata is the first production vehicle to get Android Auto.

After The Fracas Over Hello Barbie, ToyTalk Responds To Its Critics

CEO Oren Jacob has a few things he'd like to clear up.

At New York's Toy Fair, the toy industry's big February trade show, visitors to Mattel's booth were greeted, literally, by Hello Barbie, a Wi-Fi–connected doll that uses speech-recognition technology to have real conversations with kids. The prototype was programmed with a few lines of dialogue specific to visiting New York and the Toy Fair, well short of the hours of conversation she'll be prepared to engage in when she's released officially later this year. Still, she performed so well that some visitors asked if there was a woman with a microphone hiding behind a curtain, and an unplanned "interview" with CNBC's Morgan Brennan went off without a hitch. "She went six or seven questions deep," says former Pixar CTO Oren Jacob, now cofounder and CEO of ToyTalk, the company behind the doll's conversation technology. "And she crushed it."
