This Is How The Ted Cruz Campaign Could Be Mining Your Facebook Data
A data company called Cambridge Analytica compiled data on millions of Facebook users for Ted Cruz's campaign, reports the Guardian.
After months of polling in the middle of the Republican pack, presidential candidate Ted Cruz recently leaped ahead to first place in Iowa and second place behind Donald Trump in national polls. The Texas senator may have pulled ahead of the gaggle by mining data on "tens of millions of" Facebook users, reports the Guardian. The information was reportedly gathered by Cambridge Analytica, a data company working exclusively for Cruz's campaign—and was obtained largely without the knowledge of Facebook users.

Facebook Warns That The Internet Could Get A Lot Less Secure
The end of the SHA-1 security algorithm, which expires in early 2016, could block access to encrypted sites on older web browsers.
When the SHA-1 security algorithm ceases to be used next year, it could make the Internet less safe for a lot of people. The algorithm offered access to encrypted sites—think more secure HTTPS websites—and was compatible with most browsers. Its successor SHA-256, however, will only be able to provide secure connections on more up-to-date browsers.

Facebook Tweaks News Feed To Speed Up Loading Times
The new feature is targeted at Facebook users in developing countries, some of whom may not always have access to high-speed Internet.
Facebook revealed today that it is altering the news feed in its mobile apps, to make its content more accessible to users in developing countries who might have slower Internet connections. The social network is also introducing the ability to comment on stories while offline.










SpaceX's Falcon 9 Rocket Will Take To The Skies Again Next Week
Months after its last failed attempt to land the Falcon 9, SpaceX is gearing up to do yet another test launch of the unmanned rocket.
After the disastrous test run of its rocket back in June, SpaceX went dark for a few months, save for the occasional Twitter kerfuffle. But today, the private space company announced it is finally ready for another attempt: CEO Elon Musk confirmed via Twitter that SpaceX will launch a Falcon 9 rocket around December 19. The rocket will contain 11 satellites that are being sent into lower Earth orbit for a client called Orbcomm, a New Jersey-based communications company.

The camera is ideal for firefighting, search-and-rescue, agriculture, inspection, and other industries.
China's DJI, the world's largest maker of drones, has teamed up with FLIR, a leader in thermal imaging technology, on an aerial camera capable of detecting subtle differences in heat signatures.
