This pipeline company tried to take South Dakota farmers’ land—but they fought back

Bossly is one of many landowners who were sued by Summit Carbon Solutions as it unleashed a barrage of eminent domain legal actions in South Dakota to obtain land for the nearly $9 billion pipeline spanning five Midwestern states.

Jared Bossly was planting soybeans one spring night in 2023 on his 2,000-acre farm in South Dakota when he spotted a sheriff’s vehicle parked at the corner of his property. He had a hunch it wasn’t a social visit.

Warning: Do not lick Nintendo Switch game cartridges

Nintendo’s games are coated in the most bitter substance known to humans. It’s a great design decision.

I have to admit that I’m a natural born sucker (in more than one sense, some would argue, and they will be right). I have an irresistible inclination to put things in my mouth to see how they taste, which is why today I’m glad I don’t have a Nintendo Switch. Apparently, Nintendo has coated the Switch’s thumb-size game cartridges with a demonic, bitter compound known as denatonium benzoate since it launched its handheld console in 2017. And it has done it again with the Switch 2’s new $80 cartridges.

Did Colossal Biosciences actually bring dire wolves back from extinction? Scientists say it depends

The genetics laboratory claims its dire wolf pups Romulus and Remus have resurrected the long-lost species—but the semantics are debatable.

According to the Center for Biological Diversity, climate change is projected to cause the extinction of more than a third of the species of plants and animals in the world in 25 years. But scientists at genetics laboratory Colossal Biosciences are claiming they may have a solution—one they say has resulted in the birth of the first dire wolves in more than 10,000 years.
