Twelve Years Ago
This video is graphic and may not be suitable for younger viewers.
There are so many things on my mind as I watch the horrific September 11th videos on YouTube. Destruction. Devastation. Death.
They all got my attention. They all caused a pang of sadness and tears. Is this what humanity does to humanity? We hate each other this much that we're willing to kill others without reason or rhyme?
There once was a Man who decided to die for those that hated Him. He'd done nothing wrong. He didn't deserve to die. He chose to. Because He knew this was the only Way mankind could come to His Father. (John 14:6 - I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me.)
He knew that one day, there would be a little, four year old girl that would ask Him to save her from her sins so that she could go to Heaven and be with Him when she died. You may think this girl was too young and didn't know what she was doing. Was an innocent. Naive.
No. This girl had endured pain. Betrayal. Tragedy. Things that could tear her apart if she thought of them too much. But this girl knew something. She knew she needed, nay, wanted Him in her life.
This Man listened to that little girl. Tiny, obscure, plain. Didn't amount to much because, hey. She was only a child.
But that day, New Years Eve, 1978, He answered the call of the pitiful. Helpless. Hopeless. Hurting. And He saved her soul. Even though He knew she'd mess up in her later years. He knew she wasn't perfect. But He loved her anyway.
When I watched this particular video, I knew this was what was going on my blog post. This was the one I wanted to share with you. And then, after it was finished, I wanted to ask you a question.
This is my question.
If you were to die today, do you know where you would spend eternity?
This is the single, most important question you will ever be asked to answer. So don't hurry. Think about this for a minute. Be honest with yourself.
See, Jesus is that Man who died to pay for the sins of the world. The One who died when He hadn't done anything wrong, or anything to deserve it.
And He offers you the same thing he offered that little girl in 1978.
Hope.
Change.
(No, this isn't an election ad.)
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Doesn't sound very hopeful yet, does it? But, praise God, He doesn't stop there.)
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (There's that hope we were talking about ~ Amen!)
Romans 5:12 - Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. (Even that pitiable little girl. Wait. That boy over there. And that older couple over there...everyone.)
Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (commendeth = showed. Um, good thing I'm not God. Because I don't think I could take the place of a guilty person and die for them. Yep. Guess I'm a little shallow...)
Romans 10:9-10 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (And that's the change.)
Have you asked Him, Jesus, to save you? If there's only one more thing I accomplish in this life, may it be a soul won for Him.
Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1

“And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.” – Isaiah 45:3
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
“Prison was not on the “Goal Chart” of entrepreneur Trish Jenkins. A breach of the Corporations Act meant losing her multi-million dollar portfolio, including her family home. It also meant Trish served 8 months in prison.Isolated from her husband and 3 little girls, living among Queensland’s most dangerous criminals, Trish could have succumbed to despair. But treasure is found in dark places. Refusing to give into self-pity, Trish answered a new calling to make a difference in the lives around her. In doing so she found a different kind of freedom and healing. These pages are Trish’s letters and private journal entries, tracking her amazing journey with God. You’ll laugh, cry and shake your head at hilarious stories, tragic circumstances, discouragement, hope and ever present faith.”

“I was jolted by Jenkins description that “there were times of sublime joy each time I had a victory over the evil that pervaded… I was spellbound and gob smacked as I turned each page with anticipation. As the author suggested, we all have our prisons, some not made of brick and mortar. It’s clearly about how we take these circumstances, knowing ahead of time that through God we are victorious; and allowing God to use us.”“Trish Jenkins, a practising Christian was incarcerated when some financial dealings got out of control. She mustered all the bravery she could summon and allowed Jesus Christ to ooze out of her to those classified as unredeemable. Murderers, drug related criminals, traffic offenders, welfare cheats and the like all mingle in this sub-culture. Her faith has safeguarded her sanity in this toxic environment.”“A seriously good read – I couldn’t put it down and read the entire book in a single sitting.”“You won’t see your relationship with God or the opportunity to be a shining beacon despite persecution or hardship in the same way after reading Treasures of Darkness.”“God used Trish mightily to minister to many of the most hopeless. She faced danger in doing so. People have all sorts of opinions about prayer, she tells us. They sometimes blame God for their problems, and can resent people who love Him. And she finds herself hauled up before the prison authorities after a couple of women were slain in the spirit during a worship service. Yet she persevered, and many appear to have seen the light, thanks to her efforts.”“This is an outstanding read! Trish chronicles her experiences as a successful businesswoman who is sentenced to prison for securities law violations. As she tells her story, we go with her through every step of the process, sharing her fears and apprehensions as well as her joys and victories. This is a story about God’s faithfulness to His children and His ability to walk us through even the darkest valley. I highly recommend this book.”
Living with murderers, drug dealers, frauds and broken humanity, her prayers for deliverance were not answered the way she expected. Instead the Lord delivered her “through the fire…” Prison was not part of Trish Jenkins’ ministry plans but it happened. Conned by a fraud and a breach of the Corporations Act meant losing her multi-million dollar portfolio, including her family home. It also meant Trish served 8 months in prison, isolated from her husband and 3 little girls. How did this wife and mother maintain her relationship with God in this hostile environment? In her imprisonment, Trish found an inner strength that enabled her to even comfort those around her. Trish was determined to turn the incarceration into an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those around her. In doing so she found a different kind of freedom and healing.Trish is now a conference and church speaker, sharing her hard won treasures of practical, godly keys to successful living and leadership, with both secular and Christian audiences.

“As a reviewer of numerous Christian publications, I can attest that “Financial Empowerment” is exceptional. Carmichael’s 27 years of Christian service echoes page after page. I was impressed with the depth and breadth that she lovingly demonstrated about specific areas, e.g. God’s assignment of work, leaving an inheritance and using your money to help others.” – - Danita Dyess for Readers’ Favorite“I found Financial Empowerment to be very Bible-centered, informative and challenging especially at a time when money is such a major issue with world-wide economic problems. It’s a very practical guide to help the reader glean financial principles in times like these.” – -Pastor Cavour Blackman, New Wine Ministries“Understanding personal finance and having the discipline to manage a budget and save for the future are key factors toward achieving personal life goals, but knowledge and understanding about our spiritual well-being and our creator who makes all things possible are even more fundamental to our overall prosperity. This book reinforces the knowledge of how we are blessed and become wealthy through a commitment to and belief in God, who is our source.” – Carol A. Pitt, Caribbean Chapters Publishing“This book is well written with clear explanations, loads of sound advice and helpful hints. “ – Letetia Parker“I took over four pages of notes while reading, and I’ve shared Pamela Carmichael’s knowledge with others. “ –Kimberly Belcheff“It includes helps and practical tips such as steps to eliminate excessive spending.” – K. I am a Christian, and I am enthusiastic about it. I am an avid reader of non-fiction books and a love music that praises God and builds my faith in Him. At sixteen, I accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I have grown in this Christian walk not only because of regular church attendance but because of much reading, writing (a notebook and pen – are my constant companions), listening to uplifting gospel music and lots of prayer. My favorite hang out spot has been bookstores rather than clothing stores.

God is the Source
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters.—Psalm 24:1–2
It is perfectly logical to assume that a wise and competent Creator would provide for the needs of His creatures in their various stages of growth.—Charles Fillmore, ProsperitySO WHO IS OUR SOURCE? H ave we ever asked ourselves, Who is my source? If not, now is a good time to do so. So, who is our source? Is it our job or business income—or is it God? Money is such a personal thing that we often fail to recognize that the money we hold in our hands is not ours. Perhaps you work hard and deserve to be paid for your services. However, you may think your education, talent, creativity, good opportunities, or even your good looks brought what you have. But again, I ask, Who is your source? Being a good Christian, you may likely answer that God is your source, but do you really believe that? I’ve had to ask myself this question a few times in my life—when money seemed limited, when I had to juggle figures to see how I could best meet my needs when no money seemed to be in sight, yet bills were due. I’ve even asked this question when times were good and I enjoyed abundance. So who is your source when times are good and all seems well but trouble comes and all your savings and income suddenly dry up? Do you trust God only when you have enough or live in abundance? Or do you trust Him even when you don’t know where the money is coming from?WHY WE DON’T TRUST GOD AS OUR SOURCEWhat causes us not to trust God as our source? What are some of the effects of limiting God and not seeing Him as our source? We Don’t Think We Will ProsperWe Don’t Believe His WordWorry Is Our FriendTRUSTING GOD AS OUR SOURCEBy definition a source is any thing or place from which something comes, arises, or is obtained; origin (See http://dictionary.reference.com/brows...). God is the origin from which all life flows. Psalm 24:1 says that the earth belongs to God, everything in it and everyone who lives on it. All is God’s (Deut. 10:14; Job 41:11; Ps. 50:12; 89:11).So how do you view your God? Is He the origin of all you need? Is He the One from whom your needs will be met daily? Or do you still think He is limited in His ability to provide for you? If so, you need to examine the Word and see how you can align your will to God’s Word and fully understand that He is your source.
• God, the Creator, prepared for the needs of His children beforehand. From the beginning, the One who created us has been the source of all our needs. First, He designed this world for us to live in. In His love for us, He planted a garden with food, clothing, water, shelter, gold, and precious stones. The sin of Adam brought upon us the curse of hard work and poverty—by the sweat of our brows we eat (Gen. 3:17–20). But faithful as He is, God did not take away His provision from us. From creation until now we see His faithfulness in providing for all who live on this earth. Moreover, for those who believe and confess Christ as Lord and Savior, His Word promises over and over again that He will take care of all our needs and grant the desires of our hearts (Ps. 21:2; 37:4). Yet when we face financial difficulties, we often become fearful and think God’s resources have dried up. We always need to remember that God is the source of all our needs. • “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). What a wonderful promise! God has given you more than you need to enjoy life and live a godly life before Him. God wants to give you not just enough but more than enough to be a blessing to others. Second Corinthians 9:8 says that God will cause you to have more than you need so you can give toward good works. The Word of God emphasizes that God will supply both what you need in your life today and what you need for the future. Regardless of your need, God gives to you when you ask. The Father God knows what you need and will provide (Matt. 6:31–32).• If God has taken the time and effort to number the hairs on each person’s head, don’t you think He has all the details of your life worked out (Luke 12:7)? If He has not only given great care to determine how many hairs are on your head, but has also numbered each of them; don’t you think He knows what your financial position is? He has said that you are more valuable to Him than many sparrows. He takes care of the animals, but He takes greater care of every human being created in His image. God had all your needs figured out long before you knew about them, so don’t worry.• “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Yes, you probably know Philippians 4:19 all too well. If God says He will, then He will. Scripture is filled with promise after promise that God will take care of you. The psalmist said that as a youth and throughout his years on earth, he did not see the righteous and their children beg for food (Ps. 37:25). The righteous includes you! You and your children shall never beg for food because God in His faithfulness as the source of all good things will provide for you.TRUST HIMIn this world, relying on ourselves alone is signing up for certain failure. God has promised in His Word that He will meet our needs and provide for us along life’s journey. If we trust Him, He will surely make life good for us. If we trust Him, we will have peace regardless of the turmoil going on around us. When hope fails for others, our trust in God will keep the hope in us alive, and we will see nothing as impossible or hopeless. If we trust Him, we will always remember that He who promised us many blessings is faithful to perform the word He spoke to His people. When we trust God as our source, we will experience not only His peace but also His provision.Remember, the starting point of all you have, all you need, all you will possess, and all you will be in life is God. He is the stream from which all things flow. Your income is not the starting point of your provision. God is.

Memory's Door by James Rubart Book Review & Tour

About Memory's Door: The prophecy brought them together---to fight for the hearts of others and set them free. But the Wolf has risen, and now their greatest battle begins.
The four members of Warriors Riding have learned to wage war in the supernatural, to send their spirits inside people's souls, to battle demonic forces, and to bring deep healing to those around them. But their leader Reece is struggling with the loss of his sight. Brandon is being stalked at his concerts by a man in the shadows. Dana's career is threatening to bury her. And Marcus questions his sanity as he seems to be slipping in and out of alternate realities.
And now the second part of the prophecy has come true. The Wolf is hunting them, and has set his trap. He circles, feeding on his supernatural hate of all they stand for. And he won't stop until he brings utter destruction to their bodies . . . and their souls.
". . .this is a seriously heart-thumping and satisfying read that goes to the edge, jumps off, and 'builds wings on the way down.'"-Publishers Weekly review of Soul's Gate

My Thoughts:
Why is it so difficult for us to let go of the past? A place we'll never be able to return to and fix what we messed up. Why is it so tempting to focus on the what-might-have-beens rather than the what-I-have-right-nows? Throughout this book, one of the major themes is facing regrets. Mr. Rubart takes his readers on a whirlwind ride and forces them to ask pertinent questions - is God in every circumstance? Does He truly have control over *every* situation - even the ones that take something precious from you? When Christians focus on the things of this life, self-pity, self-righteousness, judging others in comparison to ourselves, we forget that this journey is not about us and we play into the hands of the enemy instead of being used by God.
This book is a prime example of why I love to read Christian fiction. With breathtaking scenes, vivid imagery and great skill, Mr. Rubart will take you on an impossible (?) journey that will challenge you to look at things a little differently and perhaps encourage you to have faith that will move mountains of doubt and worry.
*I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not required it be positive. I highly recommend this book.*

This is the mystery of Godliness and life eternal, and I never would have seen it had he not opened my eyes. Take the step of faith and your eyes will be opened to see "inexpressible things". Take the step of faith and discover life eternal today. Take the step of faith and discover the beauty of this divine path hidden right before you. Take the step of faith and you will never be the same again. I did and that is why I must tell my story. EXCERPT:"Is there no God?" I silently ask. After a few moments my resolve somehow renews. Digging my hands into small crevices in the rock to drag me forward I continue to slowly inch toward the light. My nails tear as they scrabble to pull my weight forward. My shirt rips off as the rock above and stony ground below conspire together to tear it away. My shorts are in tatters. My breathing is labored in this narrow grave. A fitting hole for a crazy person to finally end.Yet just before I finally give in, the space suddenly widens slightly. My breathing eases and with hope I make a final effort to reach the light. With all my remaining strength I pull and kick and finally scramble out of my tomb.I lift my weary head and look up.I am stunned by what I see!Get it Now at http://bit.ly/inGod
Meet the Author:

Full On Life – I suppose those would be the three words that define me and the life I like to live. Words taken from Jesus’ offer – “I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly (full on)” - John 10:10. And so in everything I seek, in Jesus’ power, to live a life of abundance. So whether physical – such as having run many 56 mile marathons, or mental – such as completing a PhD – whether at home with my awesome wife and children or in front of a thousand people, I give my all, through him who gave me all. Yet all of this is so unimportant compared to whom I am related. My dad wrote the world’s best selling book. He also made the originals that everyone from DaVinci to Michael Angelo copied. And in case that is not enough, he breathed and the stars came into being. He. “…merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed, and all the stars were born.” (Psalm 33:6). I am a child of God.

Temper Tantrums. Not Just for the Young
It was a cold, dreary night. The wind pounded against the windows. I could hear tiny pellets of rain smacking against the house and I slipped ever-so-gently into a peaceful slumber.
Without warning, the phone rang and rudely jarred me from sleep.
It was my husband.
Instantly awake, I grabbed the phone.
Please dear Lord, don't let anything be wrong. Let him be all right.
"Hey sweets, just wanted to let you know that house we were looking at? Someone put an offer in on it, and it looks like it was accepted."
Of course, at that time, I was so thankful there wasn't anything mortally wrong with him. I mean, come on. He's my best friend. So, I assured him it was fine, that it was God's answer to our combined prayers in regards to obtaining this house, and have a good night.
And I meant it. Every single word.
Until morning.
See, we thought we found the 'perfect' house. Model worthy. Granite countertops, trey ceilings, hardwood flooring, 1800 sq feet, double vanities in the master bath, bay window, *sigh*...must I go on?! And, to make things even better, it was affordable.
Yes please!
But now? Now that someone else is going to own what I'd set my heart on? It's like pouring gobs of salt on an open wound. And lemon juice. With more salt on top. Forget the cherry. Let's just punch the wound to mash in the salt and lemon juice just to make sure I got the point. Twice.
Look. I'll be honest with you. This morning, when it dawned bright and clear that God had once again said no to the very thing I wanted, I pouted. In fact, I was upset. Well, actually, it was more than upset. Try hurt, frustrated, miserable, teary-eyed and mad all mixed into one huge pity party, and you'll pretty much get an idea of what my morning was like.
(To my poor family: I'm sorry. From the deepest recesses of my heart, I truly am sorry.)
This morning, my attitude was so very foul, that I, (silently), fussed at God. Yes, I do this silently for a reason. The fewer people that think I'm crazy, the better.
And in fact, I pretty much asked Him to burn our house down so we could rebuild and have a nice house. Pretty nasty of me, isn't it? I know. I'm ashamed of it, but I do have a point. Stick with me for just a few more minutes and we'll get there.
And then, I started considering all those overwhelming details that seemed so very important. You know the ones. The poor-me, I have it soooo bad things.
Like drywall that needs repairing.
Landscaping that need to be finished.
Bugs to be sprayed for. (because I'm an 'ewwww, it's a bug!' freak.)
Wallpaper to be applied.
Painting that needs to be done.
Carpets that need to be cleaned.
A porch railing that needs to be finished.
A ceiling that needs to be finished.
As if all that weren't enough to send me to the pity-party-palace, I started dwelling on the things that weren't working.
Like our stove. Which, had we been able to purchase the other house, came with a nice, new, shiny stainless steel one.
A refrigerator that leaks.
And no garage.
Seriously. Having a man with no garage or pole barn is tough, and this morning, I thought it was the end of the world.
I had worked myself up into such a terrible pity mood, that I barely prayed loud enough for the kids to hear me during our morning devotionals. I even went so far as to 'wonder' to God if He liked telling me no.
Yep. It was that bad. I know, right? Stand back and watch for the lightening bolt!
And then a miracle happened. God sent a message through a friend of my husband's.
This wise person told the realtor's spouse (who is a mutual friend),
"They're good with their money and they don't do anything quickly without thinking everything through. They don't act impulsively and do something without praying and making sure that it's God's will."
Taking my husband aside, he asked how I was taking it. Of course, hubby didn't know I was having a major brat-fest because he was still at work, and he said, "She's disappointed, but she said that this obviously wasn't God's will and she's good with that."
Boys. They can be so naive. Come on ladies, we were talking granite countertops...this was no laughing matter anymore!
We had prayed and prayed and prayed that if it was God's will, that He would allow us to have this house. I had philosophized with the usual:
"God's bigger than that."
"He's the Creator of the Universe. What's a house?"
"If I can trust Him with my salvation, I can trust Him with a tiny house, right?"
"I felt peace when we last saw it."
My point in all this is, what happened to this attitude when God said no?
I didn't take it well. I didn't philosophize then.
No indeedy.
In fact, I threw a fit.
What a spoiled brat I am.
And I'm so ashamed of myself. Truly ashamed. Because after a few minutes of sulking and fussing at God, a thread of optimism started to shine through the darkness. The still small voice of God started pricking my heart.
God: Your husband has a job.
Me: I know, Lord, but still. I'm upset.
God: Your kids have a place to run and play.
Me: But this other house had the same amount of acreage, Lord.
God: I gave you a perfectly fine house.
Me: Yes, I know. But is it wrong for me to want something better with a garage?
God: Not at all.
(and this is the kicker...)
God: But what if there was something at that other place you wouldn't have been able to handle?
And my attitude vanished.
Because He's right.
I see only a small amount in the grand scheme of things. I only see this. Right. Now. Not so with God. He sees the whole picture. The eternal picture.
And that matters the most. Even more than granite countertops.
This is my attitude after I repented of my ugly attitude~
Me: My God is bigger than that.
God: Yes I am.
Me: But remember, Lord. If that house goes up for sale again or if it falls through, remember...
God: I'll keep it in mind.
Praise God He still loves us in spite of ourselves.
