Four Hits and a Freebie

The Clue Crew continues to amaze. Yes, various of you cinematic sleuths have solved all four of the castings that I posted hints about yesterday.

"The first guy is a man with no name, who is up to no good." That would be the Assassin. Also known to GAME OF THRONES readers as "the guy with the dagger."

The second guy is a man with no name, who is up to no good. We're talking Wineseller here.

"The first guy has been a guard and a garda, he's slept with beasts and eaten a girl, he knows that an...

Two More Guys

These guys are bigger than the first two. And they have names too!

The first guy loves goats, the second likes his meat tough. The second guy never conquered India. Is it rabbit or rarebit? The first guy might know. The guy who had more dingers than anyone but the guys who liked the juice, well, the second guy isn't that guy, or even the guy who chased that guy all summer. The first guy has been a nobleman, a moron, and a hog. The second guy holds a record: the biggest little guy. The ...

Two Guys

The first guy is a man with no name, who is up to no good. The second guy is a man with no name, who is up to no good. ((Maybe they'll get names eventually, hey. Our red-headed whore did. Just sayin')) The first guy has been a guard and a garda, he's slept with beasts and eaten a girl, he knows that anything that can go wrong will go wrong, he's seen sleeping dogs and flying saucers, and met Kavalier and Clay's greatest creation (or did he)? The second guy is not simple and he's not hig...

Aussiecon IV

The Australia trip is rushing toward us like a freight train. So much to do, so little time.

Just got my schedule from Aussiecon IV. This is still subject to change... but barring that, here's what I'll be doing at worldcon.

Cersei Conquers Gencon

Gencon, the big summer gaming convention, has come and gone in Indianapolis. I was not there myself, but Jim from Dark Sword has forwarded me some amazing pictures of Cersei from the painting competitions, and I couldn't resist the urge to share them.

The figure, of course, is from Dark Sword Miniatures. You can get your very own copy, and lots of other Ice & Fire figures besides, from their website at http://darkswordminiatures.com/

The sculpt is from the incomparable Tom Meier. You can see...

Steaming Along

I've realized that I have been remiss here in talking about the FEVRE DREAM comic, which made its debut in April at the C2E2 show in Chicago, and has been steaming along merrily ever since, releasing a new issue every month, dagnabit (sorry, channeling my inner Abner there), unlike certain other comics with which I have been connected.

The comic, of course, is an adaptation of my 1982 historical horror novel about vampires on antebellum Mississippi river steamboats. "Bram Stoker meets Mark Tw...

... Gone

The last of the 2009 calendars is gone, so that offer is closed until and unless I get some more. Which seems unlikely at this point.

(Matthew, you got the last one).

We do still have copies of the Guardians of Order book, but can no longer throw in the calendar as a freebie extra.

Sample, Sample

All of you Wild Cards fans out there should check out my website. Seeing as SUICIDE KINGS has been out for half a year, I finally got around to taking down the SK excerpt in my "Wild Cards Sample" page, and replacing it with a sample from the new book, FORT FREAK.

The new sample is by the enormously talented Cherie Priest; the first section from "Rat Race," her interstitial story, featuring her joker detective, Leo "Ramshead" Storgman.

FORT FREAK is the twenty-first volume in the Wild Cards se...

Take a Bow

No, take two. You've nailed two more correctly.

"The bloody lash knows what it's like to be dead. He's met his waterloo and been a casualty, and seen his share of apparitions too."

The bloody lash is Jhogo, one of Dany's bloodriders. He's the one she gives the whip too. In the series, he will be played by Londoner ELYES GABEL.

Gabel played Rob Cleaver in WATERLOO ROAD, 'Guppy' Sandhu in CASUALTY, and Vimal in APPARITIONS. In DEAD SET his character becomes a zombie, so he knows what it is lik...

Whip and Hammer

The bloody lash knows what it's like to be dead. He's met his waterloo and been a casualty, and seen his share of apparitions too. The horny-headed hammerhand is older than you might have thought, but too young to need a pacemaker, though he might have ridden on the ferry with Gerry. Another friend of our kraken's sister, he knows the doctor and the wizard too. Damned if he doesn't play what he calls football (not the real kind).

(Ooops, screwed up the clues again. Fixed now. Resume).
