Dee dashes his plans for wedded bless when on a drunken binge, she divulges that she's the highest paid call girl in Nevada and part-owner of the ritziest brothel in the state.

Gabe falls in love with her, but can't believe he's hearing the voice of God when a still, small voice tells him to marry her. After much questioning, they marry and he is deliriously happy. Until, Dee betrays him.

Gabe soon discovers just how hard it is to have the unconditional love God calls him to have for his wife, the kind of love God has for his children. When faced with losing her, Gabe realizes what true love is, how much it hurts, and just how much God loves and is willing to sacrifice for his children.

Mary L. Hamilton's "Hear No Evil"

Title:
Hear No Evil
Publisher:
Hope Springs Books ( a division of Chalfont House)
Cover blurb:
Brady McCaul’s newly remarried mother leaves him at summer camp and says he can’t come home. She doesn’t want him living with her anymore. Brady doesn’t know what he did wrong, but he’s determined not to live with his workaholic father, the guy who left six years ago. To make matters worse, the camp bully targets Brady and overturns his canoe, and the girl with the cute dimples thinks he’s immature and childish. Brady devises a plan to change Mom’s mind but it leaves him in the middle of the lake at night with a storm approaching. Alone in the dark with danger on its way, Brady wonders if even God cares about him.
Will Brady persuade his mom to let him stay with her? Or will a secret revelation change everything?

1) How did this story come to you?
I grew up at a camp where my dad was director, so I knew I wanted to write a story with a camp setting. About that time, my kids had friends who were facing the terrible effects of divorce. A couple of them were told they weren’t wanted anymore, and my heart just ached for them. One day, I realized I could put the two together. I’d write stories about kids who bring all the baggage from their daily life to camp and gain a new perspective, a new way of dealing with the struggles at home.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.
In 2012, my agent submitted it to four of the big Christian publishers without success. Since two of the three main characters are boys, it will be marketed to boys. But not many publishers are putting out books for boys. And one publisher thought the social issues angle would be hard to sell. In May of 2013, I attended the Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference and met Lynellen Perry, editor with Chalfont House. She was very interested in the story and within three weeks, offered me a contract for Hear No Evil as well as two more in the series. She’s been wonderful to work with, and it’s so encouraging when an editor really believes in your book.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
Hmm. I was a VISTA volunteer in 1978-79 (VISTA was a domestic Peace Corps).
I raised three kids without a television in the house.
I’m a connoisseur of chocolate chip cookies.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
For now, I’m finishing up the next novel in the Rustic Knoll Bible Camp series. It’s titled Speak No Evil and will tentatively release in August 2014. After I finish that, I’ll start working on the third book, See No Evil.

5) Parting comments?
T
hank you so much for letting me join you. I have a free copy of Hear No Evil for one of your readers who leaves a comment. I wrote this with 10-15 year olds in mind, but my favorite kids’ books were always the ones that engaged me as well as my kids. I’ve tried to write in a way that will entertain adults as well as teens and tweens.

Kimberly Rose Johnson's "The Christmas Promise"

Title:
The Christmas Promise by Harlequin’s Heartsong Presents

Cover blurb:
DR. PETE HARDING DOESN'T DATE SINGLE MOMS

No matter how lovely Keira Noble's smile, or how adorable her four-year-old son. He's been down that road before and knows it can lead to a broken heart. But that doesn't mean he can't help the pretty widow find a puppy to put under the Christmas tree for her son….

Pete claims he only wants to help her find the perfect gift for Cody. Yet Keira can't deny the tender feelings in his eyes whenever he looks at her. Could this handsome Scrooge have a change of heart, and create a new family for Christmas?

1) How did this story come to you?
I wanted to write a book in a cool setting, so I traveled to Leavenworth Washington for inspiration. As I walked around the village the story began to form in my mind.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.

Like most writers my journey to publication took some time. I wrote romantic suspense for six years before giving up and trying contemporary romance thanks to my agent’s and a good friend’s suggestion. The first contemporary romance I wrote is The Christmas Promise.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.

I always have a song in my head and often burst out singing or humming in the middle of a song—lol I don’t do this in public.  I started taking piano lessons in the 6th grade and taught piano lessons for 17 years. Whenever I’m just listening to music I often count the beats in my head—kind of nuts and someone annoying.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
I’m currently working on the fourth book in my series that takes place in Leavenworth. The second book in the series, A Romance Rekindled releases in June.

5) Parting comments?

Thanks for having me! It’s been so much fun sharing about my debut novel, The Christmas Promise. I hope you’ll either leave a comment here, or drop by my website and say hi. I also have a blog where I post twice a week.

Shannon Vannatter's "Rodeo Queen"

 Title: Rodeo Queen

Cover blurb:
CAITLYN WENTWORTH LOVES BEING A RODEO QUEEN
Until she starts receiving threatening letters from a stalker. The good news is, the Texas Ranger assigned to her case is none other than her former sweetheart Mitch Warren—the man who chose his career over love.
Mitch vows to focus on protecting the woman he's never forgotten. But Caitlyn stirs up memories best left in the past. When Mitch insists on hiding Caitlyn away on his family's San Antonio ranch, will he keep things professional or seek out a second chance?

1) How did this story come to you?
This story was in my head from the time I was a teenager. I watched a lot of cop shows (Starsky & Hutch, Vegas, and Baretta) back then, so my heroine had a stalker and a bodyguard. I’d play the scenes out in my head, change them around, add stuff, and change the ending. I was in my thirties before I realized, it was a book.

In 1999, it was the first book I wrote. And it was badly written. My first line was – It was a beautiful day. Isn’t that evocative? It was set in rural Arkansas where I live. Back then, I got fifty-two rejection letters on it. But I always loved the characters and the story.

2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published.

It took me 9 1/2 years to learn what I was doing and finally get a contract with a different book. But when I got the opportunity to continue my rodeo series last year, I thought of that first manuscript.

It was so bad, I didn’t try to fix it, I started over. Since the series is set in the Fort Worth area, San Antonio area, and Aubrey, TX - my heroine became a blingy western clothing store owner and Rodeo Queen at the Fort Worth Stockyards and the hero became a Texas Ranger. I’m almost as excited about this book releasing as I was my first published book.

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.
* I prefer pie over cake.
* I love dogs and cats equally. Dogs are usually more loving, but if you start with very young kittens, they grow up to be very affectionate. My cat comes when I call him – just like my dog. And my cat hugs me. He’ll put his paws on each of my shoulders and press his face in my neck.
* I’m an only child and my son is an only child.

4) What are you working on now and what's next for you?
While I wait to hear news on the proposal I recently submitted, this French guy character has bugged me for several years. I’m working at getting his story on paper at the moment. I don’t have any publishers interested in this book, but if I don’t get it on paper, it won’t leave me alone.

5) Parting comments?
Thanks for having me Dawn. I’ll be around today if anyone wants to ask any questions.

Cynthia Hickey's "Taming the Sheriff"

Cover blurb THERE'S A NEW TEACHER IN TOWN
Charlotte Nelson arrives in the tiny mountain town of Plumville, Arkansas, with big ideas. She wants to mend the decades-old town feud by throwing a Christmas pageant. But it soon proves to be a challenge, especially when three of her students are determined matchmakers. She's in no hurry to settle down—certainly not with the rugged, handsome sheriff.
Sheriff Asher Thomas can handle most trouble that comes his way, but Charlotte's flashing eyes and black curls are a threat of a different kind. Soon she's taking over his time and his thoughts. Will Asher change his bachelor ways for love?
1) How did this story come to you?I've always enjoyed The Best Little Christmas Pageant. I wondered what would happen if a city teacher ended up in the Ozark mountains and found herself in the middle of a feud. She decides the way to draw the town together is to put on a Christmas program despite the town's reluctance.2) Tell us about the journey to getting this book published. The book was fun and easy to write. I hope readers enjoy the story as much as I did. With a spunky heroine and a hunky hero sheriff, there's bound to be something for everyone.
3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.I'm shy. I've been on television twice. I've always thought it would be fun to play a crazy person in a movie.
4) What are you working on now and what's next for you? I'm working on the third and final mystery in my River Valley mystery series. I hope to release the story on ebook by the end of 2013.

Carole Brown's "The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman"

Title:  The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman
Publisher:
Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas

Cover blurb:
Caralynne Hayman is angry and bitter over the abuse and death of her eleven-year-old daughter at the hands of a radical religious cult--The Children of Righteous Cain. So when her husband, a founding member of the cult, suffers a massive heart attack, Caralynne allows her husband die.

Caralynne’s secret seems safe until Dayne MacFarland returns, determined to learn the truth about the cult. His investigation and his rekindled love for Caralynne lead the pair toward a confrontation with the group’s leaders.

Can Dayne’s love for Caralynne bridge the gulf of anger and bitterness that divides the community? Or will Caralynne’s deadly secrets prove too high a price for her redemption?

1)  How did this story come to you?
From my husband. He and I enjoy keeping up with unusual news items in the world, and the cult situation in Texas (several years ago) caught our attention. We began a “what if” session, and Dan, my husband, came up with the idea of a cult group and a woman who loses a child through abuse. The story developed from there.
How would she feel? Could she forgive? If she didn’t have God in her heart, how far would she go? And the question begs to be answered. Could you--or I--forgive? I know it’s easy to say, “with God’s help I would.” But I’ve seen people’s reactions. I’ve wept with them over the inexcusable deaths that happen, and I will say, sometimes, most of the time, it takes God.

2) Tell us the journey to getting this book published.

In the spring of 2012, I met with Eddie Jones from the Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas who requested my agent send him the manuscript. She did, and in December, I signed a contract with them. Release date for The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman was October 21, 2013, and so far is receiving wonderful reviews!

3) Tell me three things about yourself that would surprise your readers.

A) I collect rocks, elephants and unique music boxes,
B) I’d rather prepare party foods as a regular dinner meal, and
C) I’m terrified of snakes and heights, yet I’d rather live in the woods and hills/mountains than flat land!

4)  What are you working on now and what’s next for you?

I’m plotting a sequel to The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman. I’m also hoping to finish a historical (light suspense) this year and planning to finish books 2 & 3 from the Denton and Alex Davies series. Book 1: Hog Insane (and no, it’s not about pigs!) is releasing around November 18, 2013. Then I have second books in two others series I work on off and on.

5) Parting comments?

I love to connect with readers. My readers can always expect some type of suspense within my books. Sometimes it will be lighter than other times, but it’s always there along with a touch of romance and sometimes a bit of whimsy and dry humor. Anyone with questions can contact me via one of the avenues below.
