The Winner of Blessed!
Sorry, I'm a week late. Sickness has struck my house and everyone has been laid low with something different. Yuck! But I'm back now and Garrett is the winner of an autographed copy of Cynthia Leitich Smith's new novel, Blessed! Congrats, Garrett! Shoot me your address at tracy@tracywolff.com and I'll get it right out to you :)

News about Tempest :)
Hi Everyone,
Sorry I've been so sketchy lately, but I have been suffering from a case of the chicken pox. Yes, the chicken pox. Now that I'm finally over the worst, I am ready to dive back in to the fray. So a few cool things have happened recently.
I've finally got tracydeebs.com up and running, so stop by and check it out if you get the chance.
Also, I'm in the middle of organizing an awesome book signing tour for Tempest Rising. It will take place in May and will have a bunch of other amazing YA authors signing with me-- including the fabulous Dia Reeves, Jordan Dane, Mari Mancusi, Lara Chapman, Jennifer Archer, Sophie Jordan and hopefully, Tera Lynn Childs!!! Pretty terrific, huh?
And I just got the most amazing cover quote from the talented and hilarious, Tera Lynn Childs, author of Forgive My Fins and Oh My Gods! She wrote this about Tempest and I couldn't be more thrilled, especially about the achingly beautiful part:
"Dark, magical, and achingly beautiful, Tempest Rising enthralled me from beginning to end. I alternately cried and cheered for Tempest as she navigated the world between human and mermaid, land and water, comfort and passion, self and duty. A must read for any mermaid lover and anyone who loves an epic read."
So, that's what's been going on around here. What's up with you guys lately?

My favorite Superbowl Ad!
I live in a house with four men-- in Texas-- which means that during Football season, control of the TV is yielded completely to the NFL. Which, most of the time, bugs me as life on the weekends has to revolve around when games are on. But one game I do enjoy watching every year is the Superbowl because of the fabulous ads. This year, the guys in my house were thrilled with the Pepsi and Coke ads, but my favorite was a lot more serious. Maybe because I was born in Detroit, maybe because I'm an Eminem fan, maybe because I like dark and broody stuff. I don't know. Either way, I think the Chrysler commercial set in the Motor City was phenomenal. My other favorite was the beaver commercial for Bridgestone. I'm a sucker for Karma.
So, what do you think? What was your favorite ad from the Superbowl this year?

This Week's Giveaway

Anyway, because I did take time out this weekend to go to a fabulous booksigning at Austin's independent bookstore, BookPeople (and let's here it for independent bookstores), I have a kick-ass prize for this week's giveaway. An autographed copy of Cynthia Leitich Smith's brand new vampire book, Blessed. So leave an answer to this week's question and be entered to win!
Question of the Week: The first ever Into the Tempest poll is closing tomorrow, and it looks like mermaids are the clear winner (yay, for Tempest and for me). If you voted, and even if you didn't, tell me what your favorite supernatural creature is and why. My favorites are mermaids and shifters (big surprise as I have both in Tempest Rising and I also write a dragon shifter romance series) because I love their ability to flourish in two worlds, to be two totally different things :) So how about you???

A Quick Peek at Tempest Rising
Hi Everyone,
I thought I'd start the day by giving you another glimpse of Tempest Rising.
I pulled out the mirror and held it up to my left ear, tried to look at the odd bumps there without letting Mark or Brianne see. But as I got my first glimpse of the strange little slash in the mirror, my heart literally skipped a beat. Then two.Trying (and failing) not to freak out, I frantically switched the mirror to my right side, only to see the same thing there. A short (no more than three-quarters of an inch) shallow cut ran directly beneath each of my ears. The cuts gaped a little on each side, despite the fact that they looked fully healed—there was none of the redness and dried blood that you would expect from a new injury. My hands started to shake—so noticeably that I made myself dump my compact back in my purse. Mark and Bri were staring at me like I'd lost my mind, but I didn't know what to say to them, didn't even know if I could look at them. I hadn't cut myself in the ocean, hadn't hurt myself and been unaware. No, nothing that simple would do for me. Instead, it was a million times worse. A billion times worse. No, make that a trillion times worse. Because one look at the slightly raised, slightly open slices and I knew exactly what they were. After all, I'd seen them before—every day of the first eleven years of my life—on my mother. The short yet rocky journey between my life and complete and utter insanity had just been fast-tracked. Sometime between checking myself over in the mirror before leaving the house and right now, I had grown gills.
So, what do you think? And don't forget to check back tomorrow. I'll be posting another contest :)

Check This Out!

And in other news, the Turkish rights to Tempest were just sold. It'll show up in Turkey about a year after it hits the shelves here and in the U.K. I'm excited-- I've never had a Turkish edition of one of my books before :)

This Week's Contest
Since it's been so miserable and dreary here in Austin for the last week (though the sun has finally managed to break through) I thought I'd give myself a little boost by imagining summer sunshine. So for this week's giveaway, I'm doing a "Fun in the Sun" basket, complete with all kinds of fun summer stuff along with some cool Tempest swag I just put together. So leave a comment for the question of the week to be entered to win! Winner will be posted on Sunday :)
Question of the Week: Name one writer whose books totally blow you away, and tell me why. For me, recently, it's been Cory Doctorow, whose books Little Brother and For the Win just speak to me on every level imaginable. Talk about a brilliant writer and an incredible storyteller. But I don't want to ruin the review I have planned for sometime in the nebulous future, so I'll stop myself there. For now!
