Amazon Review - Home Wrecker I (Home Wrecker Chronicles) by Brenda Perlin

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hardest Review I've Ever Written, June 11, 2013
By T. M. Novak "Court Jester Publications"
This review is from: Home Wrecker 1 (Home Wrecker Chronicles) (Kindle Edition) When I finished this book I felt conflicted. For that reason alone I decided not to review it after I read the last word like I usually do. I wanted to give it a three or a four but my finger just couldn't do it. I remember asking myself why would I give it a three or a four? The answer was simple and it pissed me off how selfish it was. I was not basing my score on the book itself, how it was written, whether it had a good story line or believable characters. I was simply basing it on my bias towards, "home wreckers." So I asked myself questions. Was the story good? It was amazing. Was it well written? I didn't see any plot holes or grammar errors. Were the characters believable? Yes, every word/thought/feeling and scene was believable. The only character I wanted to know more about was Bo and I do believe the next book will go into his detail more. Did it keep my attention? I couldn't put it down for longer than it took to sleep. So, in the end I had to set my feelings aside and be fair to the book and the author. She did a damn good job!

The Briton and the Dane: Concordia featured on Crystal Schall's Monday Splash

Author Crystal Schall http://www.crystalschall.com/tips-and-tricks.html#.UbX5k2oo6M8Monday Splash for 6/10/201306/10/2013     Today's Monday Splash book except comes to courtesy of author Mary Ann Bernal from the fourth book in her Briton and the Dane series, Concordia. Picture Concordia wrapped her cloak tightly around her as wind gusts chilled the night air.  She smiled slightly when Thayer placed a velvet pouch in her hand, yet she was hesitant to accept the gift.

“Open it,” Thayer whispered in her ear.

Concordia gasped when she saw the gold bead necklace, but she could not curtain her excitement when she held the striking jewels against her chest.  The gold beads were interspersed with turquoise and blue glass of various designs, and each bead was elegantly embellished by exquisitely engraved decorations.

“I have never seen such intricate work,” Concordia said excitedly as Thayer clasped the necklace around her neck.  “There are no words...but I cannot accept such a costly gift.”

“You must, lest you offend my mother.”

“I do not understand...how am I known?”

“I had written my mother of our friendship...she sent this token so you may always remember the bond we share...it belonged to her mother...she insisted.”

“Tell her I am most pleased,” Concordia murmured as she held the beads gently between her fingers while averting his gaze.  “Tell her I shall never forget her kindness.”

“Come, the hour grows late...you must be in your chambers before you are missed.”

Concordia followed Thayer down the stairs as the clouds once again covered the full moon.  She walked silently beside the man who had captured her heart, etching his features into memory, to remember in the days ahead, when she grieved for a love that might have been.

Thayer stopped abruptly when they reached the king’s private quarters, grasped Concordia by the shoulders and kissed her gently upon her lips.

“Forgive my impertinence,” Thayer said softly.  “I cannot leave without telling you...if only...you must go before words are spoken that cannot be taken back...go!”

“I do not understand,” Concordia tearfully replied.  “Can you not see...”

“Hush,” Thayer interrupted as he placed his finger over her lips.  “I know.”

“Will I ever see you again?” Concordia asked, her voice choked with emotion.

“If Allah wills it,” Thayer replied kindly before he disappeared into the night.

Amazon Review - Knight of the Dixie Wilds by K. Meador

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless Classic, A Journey of Life in the Wilds! May 15, 2013
By M-NSmith
Format:Kindle Edition
Walter Taylor may have lived before you and I were born or even thought of but his niece has been kind enough to bring back his wonderful story about life in the Wild Dixie lands. Through struggle and strife this is a classic, timeless tale of how the frontier of Texas was populated and cultivated after the civil war. Set in the lowlands of Mississippi and then into the Piney Woods of East Texas, the story surrounds a young man by the name of Buck Taylor. (Believe it or not, the author makes it clear that a lot of the accounts in the story are true and can be verified by numerous sources, living and dead.)
Buck Taylor is a young man, befriended by most, and loved by many. He is trying to find a way to make it in the new land that his family has brought him to but it is not an easy life. Between the work he is forced to do in the Klu Klux Klan and the Negro soldiers that are on his trail, he weaves a life in and out of the swamps, hills, and rivers of East Texas and Mississippi. Of course, there is always a girl or two around the corner that would like to either snag Buck and treat him right or lie in wait to deceive him.
This is a wonderful story of love, life, friendship, and courage. If you love a good book that keeps you guessing, keeps you turning the page, and keeps you up "ALL" night reading, then this is the book for you! I have to thank K. Meador for bringing this timeless classic to my attention and then sharing the story for everyone to enjoy!
