History Trivia - Norsemen defeated at Louvaine, France

891 Northmen defeated near Louvaine, France.

1339 The Hundred Years' War officially began when King Edward III of England declared war on France.

1422 9-month-old Henry VI became King of England upon the death of his father, Henry V, but was not officially crowned until he was eight.

1532 Lady Anne Boleyn was made Marchioness of Pembroke by her future husband, King Henry VIII of England.

The Wizard of Notts Recommends - Fine dining in Nottinghamshire - Harts Restaurant

The Wizard will be stirring the cauldron at Harts Restaurant in Robin Hood Country this evening.   

RestaurantHart’s is a busy 80 seater restaurant which has for some eleven years claimed the title of Nottingham’s most succesful up-market eatery. Hart’s aims to provide a thoroughly professional blend of skilled service and modern British cooking in a stylish and comfortable interior. General Manager, Sally Martin, leads the front of house team.
The wine list was compiled by Tim Hart and includes a wide range of interesting bottles from small producers in the price bracket £15 – £30. Dan Burridge’s cooking could be described as “Modern British”. His aim is to use top quality ingredients, often locally sourced in simple striking combinations.
A complete refurbishment, masterminded by Stefa Hart in January 2006, provided more intimate seating options in comfortable booths.

History Trivia - Pope Paul II excommunicates England's King Henry VIII.

12 Caligula, Emperor of Rome 37-41, was born. He was noted for his insanity and cruelty.

161 Commodus, Emperor of Rome 180-192 was born.  

651 St. Aidan died. A monk at Iona, Scotland, Aidan became the first bishop of Lindisfarne.

1056 Byzantine Empress Theodora became ill and died suddenly a few days later without children to succeed the throne, thus ending the Macedonian dynasty.

 1314 King Håkon V Magnusson moved the capital of Norway from Bergen to Oslo.

1422 King Henry V of England died of dysentery while in France.

1422 Henry VI became King of England at the age of 9 months.

1535 Pope Paul II deposed and excommunicated King Henry VIII.
