Uncommon Assassins

162_uncommon_assins_cvr

Hired killers. Vigilantes. Executioners. Paid killers or assassins working from a moral or political motivation. You’ll find them all in this thrilling anthology. But these are not ordinary killers, not your run-of-the-mill hitmen. The emphasis is on the "uncommon" here—unusual characters, unusual situations, and especially unusual means of killing. Here are 23 tales by some of the best suspense/thriller writers today. The stories range from historical fiction to science fiction to political thriller—there’s even an alternate history story in the mix. Enjoy!

Update

Still alive! :D Just been very busy with the blog tour and immediately afterwards my editor sent me round 2 of Glass Frost so I've been busy working on the novel. Still no exact release date but I'll probably have a better idea once the edits are completely finished. :) I've scheduled some more book signings and I might even be a part of a Summer Children's Book Reading program at Woodside Farms Creamery (Best ice cream in the US...at least that's what they tell me). So I'm very excited about that. :D

More updates coming soon. Gotta run because I gotta give my kids their breakfast. :D

Later!

Shiver

I've been a little MIA and haven't written much because I'm currently wrapped up in a novel titled Shiver. IT'S AMAZING!
6068551

Official blurb:

For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf--her wolf--is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again. Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It's her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

Read it in two days. I'm already halfway through the second book in the series. SO GOOD!!6654313

Official blurb:

The astonishing #1 New York Times bestseller. In Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.

And I'm 100% that I'm going to buy the third book in the series as well as everything else Maggie Stiefvater has ever written. She's an amazing writer. :)9409458

Article

So here's a little personal tidbit very few people know about me. My son Mason has a feeding disorder. It's been a long, long battle for my husband and I trying to get him to try new foods. I'm not going to get into too much details here because I'm saving it all for an article I've decided to write. I've been meaning to for years, but I wanted to do it when we were closer to seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, which has been happening over the past few weeks. Last night I sat down and made up my mind to write about it after letting it mull over my mind for several days.

I want to thank my good friend Bev elementalmuse for giving me great advice on how to get started with my article. She told me to think of it as telling my story to a friend of mine. And I started to think about that. All the times I sat down and explained my situation to my friends or even perfect strangers. I'm not a doctor, not an expert in the field, or anything like that. I'm writing this from a mother's point of view. The anguish I feel when I go to the mall and watch other children eat something as simple as a cookie, while Mason can't even bear to touch it. I'm going to talk about the bargains I've made with God, and the angels all in the hopes that someone, anyone can help me with my little boy. I'm going to write about the breakthroughs we've made this year.

I'm going to write about some of the things Mason's therapist have suggested that have worked towards his benefit and give other moms like me as much information as possible. Again, I'm not an expert, but I wish someone had sat down with me and given me something to work with while I waited for three months for Mason to see a feeding therapist. Something to give some sense of hope. To make me feel as though I'm not the only one suffering through this strange journey. A knot to tie at the end of my rope just so I can hold on...just a little longer.

So that's what I'm going to be working on off an on for the next few weeks. Wish me luck. ;)

Edits

Okay, not sure if I mentioned it on here (I definitely posted about it on facebook) but a couple of weeks ago I agreed to edit my mother's manuscript, Josie's Prize. This has been a work in progress for 27 years. She has a hard time letting go. So I'm amazed that my mom has allowed me to look over her book.

I'm currently on page 5. Her writing is scattered at best. She hops from head to head at totally random times so I'm doing my best to keep the story in 3rd POV Limited only to the main character. She also uses A LOT of adverbs. It's like they're running out of style and she wants to use as many as possible.

She's a good writer, though. She has a lot of great sentences and the woman can tell a story. The only thing holding her back is her head hopping. So I'll keep you all posted. Wish me luck.

Writing Prompt

Sometimes we get wrapped up in the simple colors. Red, yellow, blue, green. But we tend to forget that there are other colors that often work better. Crimson, turquoise, onyx, emerald, topaz, amethyst, lime...etc.

Try to write a page or so describing the colors you see, but try and stay clear from the simpler colors and see if that helps. Or just follow your muse and see where he/she takes you!
