A quick deadline update. . .
Yes, my deadline was Thursday, May 1. I turned in 80% of the book. I’m writing the final 20% this weekend to finish by end-of-business on Monday. The final 20% is the usual flurry of action/destruction/explosions/monsters/mayhem. I’m almost there! All I’m doing between now and Monday afternoon is writing, eating, sleeping — and sometimes all [...]

New Rob Thurman short story collection!
I’m a week and a half out from deadline for The Dragon Conspiracy, getting over a sinus infection (self-diagnosed — I haven’t been to the doc, but figure what else gives you days of day-glow snot?) I’ve surfaced to let you know that my friend Rob Thurman has a self-pubbed short story collection coming out [...]

Don’t worry, I’m still here
It’s o’dark-thirty in the morning. Dang, but birds get up early. Before I get back to work this morning on The Dragon Conspiracy, I wanted to pop in and let you know that I’m fine, I’m writing, and I’m working toward my new deadline of May 1. My editor Anne (God bless her) gave me [...]

Finally — My big announcement
I’ve finally been given the green light to announce a project that I’m so incredibly and unbelievably excited about – My publisher (Ace Books/Penguin) has graciously invited me to be one of four authors for their next urban fantasy anthology — NIGHT SHIFT. That’s exciting enough by itself, but what’s really thrilling for me are [...]

Snow photos & book update
Here are two photos taken from our back deck of the snow we had . . . jeez, it was almost two weeks ago. I seem to be apologizing a lot for not posting, and I’m doing it again. I’m six weeks out from my [...]

Prepping for the ice storm
Hey ya’ll! My apologies as I fully intended to post last last week on why reading while writing a book is critical — at least for me. That didn’t happen because my laptop got a *truly nasty* virus that took out most of my operating system (I swear I use protection and don’t have intimate [...]

Now entering Deadline Hell — And that’s okay
There are five deer (that I can see) grazing beside the pecan tree closest to the house. I’d post a pic, but I can’t get one without scaring away the Ladies Who Lunch. There are usually seven of them (I wonder if the other two decided to sleep in), which I’ve dubbed “The Clique.” We’ve [...]

Writing & the country life
Well, I just got quite the workout. We have some snow coming in this evening, and the bottom’s about to drop out of the temperature (again), so I did the “country wife” thing and gathered and stacked some firewood. Our guy hasn’t brought our truckload of wood yet, so I put on my boots, got [...]
