A Snog for Sommer

asnogforsommer-buttonChances are if you read erotica or erotic romance you’ve read something by Sommer Marsden. Sommer’s stories appear in a plethora of anthologies, and her novels and novellas are published by what seems like every erotic publisher in existence. So you know Sommer. You might not recognize her if you bumped into her in the grocery store, but you know her through her words, her stories, her humor, and her zinging writing.

Sommer’s husband is battling pancreatic cancer, and her family are battling on several levels. There’s already an anthology Summer Loving with all proceeds going to Sommer (Have you bought it yet? If not, why not?) and now the lovely people at Smut for Good have organized a day of snogs. Read my snog, hop over to Smut for Good and see who else has signed up. Read them all. Win prizes. And use the Paypal button at Smut for Good to donate to Sommer and her family.

My snog is a lesbian snog, taken from my story Out for the Count in my just-released anthology Forbidden Fruit: stories of unwise lesbian desire. Leave a comment here and you can win your choice of the following paperbacks: Girls Who Score, lesbian sports erotica edited by Ily Goyanes, Morning, Noon and Night, erotica for couples edited by Alison Tyler, or Best Lesbian Romance 2012 edited by Radclyffe. Don’t forget to include your email address for contact and your book preference.

The keys she saw in Francesca’s purse do indeed fit a Lexus. A silver late-model one. Linn sinks into the leather seat, fakes a wide-eyed look around. “Lovely car,” she says, and leans forward to twiddle the radio dial.

Francesca slaps her hand away, and as Linn feigns hurt, Francesca picks up her hand and presses it to her lips, kissing away the red mark.

This time, Linn’s gasp is not feigned. The touch of Francesca’s mouth on the back of her hand sends a jolt of silver desire along her arm. One touch from the red lipsticked mouth pressing a kiss to her flesh, and she’s molten. Wide-eyed she stares at Francesca.

Francesca withdraws. “Did I read you wrong, darling? If I did, it’s a first. I thought you knew what you were getting into. You don’t want poker tips any more than I want to give them.” One side of her mouth lifts in a half smile, and she seems amused.

Caught off balance by the directness, Linn stammers an apology, but Francesca leans across the gearshift and presses her lips to Linn’s. She kisses her hard, her mouth firm and assured. Her hand rests on Linn’s thighs, pressed protectively together. A shaft of desire pierces Linn’s belly. She knows the parking garage is covered by CCTV, she knows that Raoul may be watching this, but right now, she doesn’t care. She wants Francesca with a fierceness, an immediateness that equals Francesca’s own post win high. It’s doubtless going to be a euphoric fuck for Francesca, but Linn is there with her, and if Raoul is watching—well, she will make her excuses to him later.

So she kisses Francesca back, pushing her tongue into Francesca’s mouth, and tasting the lust that leaks from her. But she keeps her thighs together; Francesca is probably so high she would fuck here in the parking garage, uncaring of security cameras. But Linn won’t go that far. Indeed, she thinks, she will stop this soon. But not just yet.

Forbidden Fruit: stories of unwise lesbian desire – Release Day is Here

forbiddenfruit_v4_lowres

G’Day, and welcome to the launch of Forbidden Fruit: stories of unwise lesbian desire.

It’s been almost a year since I first pitched the idea of a lesbian erotica anthology to Ladylit. I put forward a couple of themes, and the one we all enthusiastically agreed upon was that of desire, lust, or love for the woman you simply should not have. Yearning for someone who is off limits, denied to you in any one of a number of ways. The forbidden fruit.

And now, several months later, Forbidden Fruit: stories of unwise lesbian desire is released into the wild. Seventeen stories from seventeen amazing writers—many well-known names from the world of lesbian erotica, and some talented newbies. Under the cover of Forbidden Fruit you’ll read about cops, Dommes, horse thieves, nurses, atheists, and nuns. The stories are set in a dystopian near-future, a Nevada casino, the magical city of Rome, and a Montreal sports stadium. The bad girl is released from prison, a college student lusts after an older woman, a sculptor knows exactly what she wants when the salt-and-pepper butch walks in, and a broken heart is salved by an emotional encounter with the ex’s mother. A marriage is under threat when Hurricane Irene strands the spouses far apart, and an upper class lady finds her soul mate in her maid.

The blog tour kicks off here. For the next 17 days, you can read along as each of the contributors interviews one of their fellows, and shares an excerpt of their story. You can see full details of the tour over at the Forbidden Fruit Antho blog.

In addition, leave a comment on any post along the way to be entered into a random draw to win one of several paperbacks or ebooks. Full details below.

And now, without first ado, I introduce Beth Wylde, whose story Bachelorette Party is included in Forbidden Fruit. Beth was kind enough to answer my questions about her writing, and of course her story Bachelorette Party.

You write bisexual, gay and heterosexual erotica as well as lesbian erotica. Do the characters dictate the story, or does the story dictate the characters (and their sexuality)?

Hmm, that’s a tough one. I normally get an idea for just the beginning of a story along with the main characters that will appear in it. Until I know their names I can’t even start writing it out. Once I can see the characters in my mind, and I know their names, then the writing can begin. The story unfolds as I go along, but I do know from the start what sexuality/genre I’ll be writing and there is no changing it. If I try to alter the story or push in a different direction it stalls out. I have to give my muse free reign or she goes on strike.

Mornings are the best part of my day. Tell me how your day begins.

I am so NOT a morning person, but now that school has started back I kind of have to be. During summer my kids and I stay up super late and sleep half the day. We are all third shift people. LOL Now though, I get up at 5:30 and start breakfast, wake the kids up at quarter till 6 to get them dressed and fed. I get them on the bus around 7am, then I start doing housework. Once I have the dishes and laundry going (I also homeschool my oldest child so I get her up around 9 and get her fed and started on her schoolwork for the day) then I run any errands I need to and start planning dinner out. After that I finally get a little me time to work on promo, check out any current sub calls and do some writing, if the muse is feeling cooperative. Once the kids get home from school there is something constantly going on until they get in bed around 8pm. Then I finish what few odds and ends need to be done, relax with a book, and sometimes get back online to do some writing. I’m an insomniac so the middle of the night is usually my most productive writing time when the house is dead silent. I need peace to write and with three kids that’s hard to come by during the day.

Pantser or plotter?

Definitely a pantser. I normally get an idea for a story and, until I start writing it, I have no idea what will happen or how it will end until I get there. I take the journey right alongside my characters. I think this is why I often write in first person instead of third. I really get inside my character’s head and I think that makes the story flow better and feel more realistic to the reader. I love writing sex in first person. A lot of what turns me on shows up in my stories. ^_^

Think back to the first erotic story you wrote. What inspired you to write it (and was it published)?

It was published but has since gone out of circulation. I actually sat down to write a hetero romance. A friend emailed me a call for subs for m/f erotic romance and I decided to try my hand at it. I’d been dabbling with some ideas and she encouraged me to submit something. I had this mushy, kissy-faced scenario in mind. Where the guy rescues the female in need and sweeps her off her feet. Makes me gag just to think about it now. LOL The main male character was being an ass and would not cooperate with the storyline I had pictured. He kept insisting he was gay, which was not going to work for what I had in mind. (Yes, the people in my books talk to me ;) so a background character stepped in and swept my main girl off her feet and back to her dorm room for some very naughty sapphic sex. I’ve been writing lesbian erotica ever since.

Tell me about your story Bachelorette Party in Forbidden Fruit: stories of unwise lesbian desire.

My story actually came about thanks to another story I wrote and had published last year. Linda and Jenny were briefly mentioned during another character’s discussion with the bartender at the club after the party ended. She didn’t know the club had been hosting a party that day and was hoping to find a date only to find the club full of couples when she arrives. The bartender tells her about Jenny’s party and the fact that she left early with Linda after a heated make-out session on the dance floor. The storyline veers off elsewhere but the mention of those two background characters always stuck with me. I didn’t have any plans to write Linda and Jenny’s story, but when I saw the call for Forbidden Fruit the couple immediately popped into my mind. I thought the mention of them going home together after the party would fit the theme perfectly. I’m so excited I got to tell their story and it ended up being accepted for the book. I can’t wait to get my copy of the anthology. The author line-up is amazing.

We spend the next three hours drinking and dancing and having the time of our lives. Linda invited all of my friends in the community and, judging from the big stack of sex toys I got as presents, their credit cards really got a work out. Every time I look at the gift table I blush. I’m not a prude by any means but I have no idea what some of the items are used for and the size of two of the dildos are seriously intimidating. They must be meant as a gag because I’m not sure any woman can stretch that much. Some thoughtful person even included a huge pack of batteries. I may not need Mark after all.

I forgot how much fun going to a lesbian bar could be. No expectations, no judgment, just a building full of women looking to enjoy themselves without recrimination. It’s been months since I’ve been to Anna and Eve with Linda. Mark threw a holy hell fit the last time I went with her so I’ve ignored her recent invitations, preferring to avoid another big fight with my fiancé. I bet he’d be really pissed off if he knew where I was and who I was with right now. Tough shit. I don’t care. The more I think about the situation the madder I get. Why should I have to leave my friends, especially Linda, behind because my future husband is a homophobic asswipe? It’s not fair.

Linda slides in beside me on the dance floor, takes one look at my face, and frowns. “Oh no. No, no, no! None of that little missy. Tonight is all about having fun. Wipe that scowl off your face this instant. You can think about whatever has you so pissed off tomorrow.” The lights go down as a slow song comes on and Linda grabs me around the waist, pulling me close as she starts to sway to the beat. “Dance with me, babe.”

She smiles down at me as she wraps her arms around my neck. In reply I move my hands to her hips and hang on tight. Her eyes are glassy and her moves are kinda sloppy. She really wasn’t drunk earlier but I can tell she’s well on her way now. I’m pretty tipsy myself.

We kind of shuffle in place, turning slowly because neither one of us is very steady on our feet. Maybe it’s the situation we’re in, or the fact that the liquor has really loosened my tongue, but I feel the need to tell her exactly what she means to me and how thankful I am that she came to drag me out of my house today.

I plant my feet in place and our movement stops. She starts to pull away but I clasp my hands behind her back to keep her in place. Her eyes widen slightly and her breathing speeds up the barest bit. “You’ll probably never know how much this party means to me. Despite everything, you’ve hung in there by my side. I can’t imagine my life without you in it. I just can’t. I don’t even want to think about it. I need you.” My hands clench in the back of her shirt as the first tears start to fall. I crush my face into her shoulder and start to weep. “Don’t leave me. Please.”

She squeezes me, her glorious muscles enfolding me tight in her embrace. I’ve never felt safer or more loved. “Hey. I’m not going anywhere. Mark can kiss my ass.” She strokes my hair and rocks me gently. “Look at me. Jenny, I’m serious. Look at me.”

Her voice sounds shaky at the end and I find myself obeying her request instantly, wondering if the wavering sound means she’s as upset over this as I am. I lift my head and look into her face. The expression of fierce determination lights an answering fire inside of me. Suddenly the whole situation seems crystal clear. I know now why I said yes to Mark. It’s not because I’m in love with him. I’m not, and I’m not sure I ever was. It’s what he represents that made me accept his proposal.

If I marry Mark my parents will be happy, my life will be simple. My family expects me to marry a guy. To have babies. To do what society finds acceptable. I don’t want to settle for acceptable. Been there, done that, got the ring to prove it. There’s so much more out there that I refuse to settle for mediocre. I want adventure, excitement. I want to fall into bed with someone that can rock my world and everyone else be damned if they don’t find my choice proper.

I want Linda.

The realization is shocking in its clarity, but I finally decide to take the chance. I know I won’t regret it. I’ve made my decision, now I need to help Linda make hers.

Linda is still staring at me, the barest hint of hope and trepidation on her face. I hate the fact that I put that look of worry there, but I’m going to do my best to erase it. I lean forward, keeping my eyes open the whole time as I close the miniscule gap between us. Linda’s eyes go wide when she realizes my intentions and for just a second the look of shock is almost comical. Her gaze drops lower, locking on my lips and the fear is replaced instantly by a lustful look that makes my insides twist and my pussy wet. I want this. Oh God, how I want this. “Kiss me. Please just kiss me.”

Her lips finally touch mine and the kiss is horribly chaste and brief. Nothing like what I want, and I let her know it. “Kiss me for real.”

She licks her lips before she speaks, leaning her forehead against mine until we’re so close she only has to whisper. “Are you sure? Don’t do this with me if you aren’t one hundred percent positive because I don’t think I can take it. Losing what I never had is one thing, but if we do this, really do this, and you decide you can’t handle it, it just might kill me. I’ve wanted you for so damn long.”

“I’m sure. I’m sorry it took me so long to recognize what’s right in front of me. Now please, just kiss me. I want you so much it hurts.”

Linda doesn’t hesitate any longer. She gives me what I’m asking for and more. Her lips press against mine. There’s nothing chaste about what she’s doing to my mouth now. She uses everything at her disposal. Lips, teeth, and tongue. It’s brutal, primal, everything I expected and beyond.

The things other people do while you are doing other things

I’ve been sitting here at my desk for the last couple of hours wrangling the blog tour for the upcoming “Forbidden Fruit: stories of unwise lesbian desire”. While I was doing this, my partner was out in the driveway… cleaning my car!

This is not just any car, any modern car that takes a trip to the car wash weekly, this is my beloved and beautiful 1980 Volvo, Lord Volvomort. And this is the first time Lord VVM has been washed in the past 4.5 years. Certainly the first time anyone has removed the dead leaves from the headlight protectors, certainly the first time Armorol has come within metres of his dash. And definitely the only time the rubber mats have been removed, cleaned, shined and replaced.

Look! Look! Isn’t he beautiful! (I would have climbed into the back seat to take a better photo, but the back seat is still full of Land Rover back seat. Lord VVM makes an excellent storage facility.)
