Stuart Johnson Reid (1848-1927) was a British critic and author. For 14 years he was was the chief reviewer of the Leeds Mercury and was a regular contributor to a series of publications including the Standard and the Speaker. He worked for a number of publishers including Sampson Low and Co., Cassell's and Duckworth and Co.

As an author Reid specialised in biography. He edited the Queen Victoria's Prime Ministers series and wrote biographies of Sydney Smith, Lord John Russell, and Sir Richard Tangye. He arranged and catalogued the State and family manuscripts of the Dukes of Marlborough and created the library at Blenheim Palace.
