Donald Trump Needs Help With His Insults
The Media has been consistently confused by Donald Trump's rise in the polls because they've predicted since the summer that his trash talking would sink his campaign. Though he sounds like a belligerent New York cabbie at the end of his shift, Trump keeps garnering support despite the way he insults his opponents in debates and via Twitter.
He's savaged Carly Fiorina's looks and Jeb Bush's energy, and the foundation of his attack is the physical shtik: the shrugs, the sneers, and the deliv...

Me and Aziz Ansari
So I'm watching Episode Two of Master of None titled "Parents." Aziz Ansari's character Dev is bitching with his friend Brian (played by Alan Yang) about how demanding and undemonstrative his immigrant parents are.
He says that when he was at a white girlfriend's house for dinner, he got hugged by her mother more times in one evening than in his entire life by his parents. I cracked up because my brother and I have talked about how we couldn't remember our Holocaust survivor mother hugging u...

Dr. Who Makes a Great Villain
While David Tennant was voted "The UK's favourite Doctor," on the original Netflix show Jessica Jones he's just plain brilliant as Kilgrave, the elegant psychopath with a creepy super power.
Kilgrave can make people do the simplest or most appalling things just by speaking a few words. If he tells someone to walk away in the middle of a conversation because he's bored, she will. If he tells someone to put his head through a post because he's feeling perverse, that man will keep pounding a...

Donald Trump Should Not Be Giving Yiddish Lessons
Or language lessons. Or etiquette lessons.
He's telling the world that his use of "schlonged" is not vulgar, that it just means that Hillary Clinton was beaten.
Once again, #MSM is dishonest. "Schlonged" is not vulgar. When I said Hillary got "schlonged" that meant beaten badly.
-- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 23, 2015
And people are defending him by ignorant statements like "schlong is just a word for penis."
No it's not, it's a vulgar word for penis, just like putz, sch...

Dana Milbank Is No Yiddish Maven
Dana Milbank had lots of fun mocking Donald Trump in his recent Washington Post column, after Trump turned a Yiddish slang word for penis into a verb and said Hillary Clinton got "schlonged."
Taking on Trump, Milbank shared an array of real Yiddish insults and imprecations, among them choice expressions like "Go shit in the sea!" (Gai kaken oifen yam)--though Milbank delicately used the word defecate. And of course he's transliterating, because Yiddish is written with Hebrew letters.

Grammar Police: You Lost the Battle For "They"
You know who you are and you know what I mean.
You hear someone say "Everyone should have their rights" or you read a sentence like that and you feel tormented.
You simmer. Then you explode. You call down the wrath of the grammar gods on the offenders.
It's time to get over it. Yes, I know, you believe it's grammatically incorrect and you can haul out this or that guide to prove it. But history isn't really on your side.
Truly. Use of "they," "them," and "their" in ways you abhor date...
