Aurealis magazine "Reviewers' Picks of 2020"
My novel, Body Farm Z (Severed Press), makes the cut in Aurealis magazine's "Reviewers' Picks 2020: Best Speculative Fiction Books".
Chris Foster writes: "A characterful zombie novel set in the Victorian outback, filled with Australiana and great action scenes. A diverse set of personalities, friendships and much detail to make you feel like you’re swatting the flies from your face under a scorching Aussie
sun. Deborah Sheldon has delivered a fast-paced read (and which includes a
kookaburra named Cookie)."
See the full list of reviewer's picks in Aurealis magazine #136.

My poem airs on the AntipodeanSF Radio Show
The weekly AntipodeanSF Radio Show is hosted by the editor of the online magazine AntipodeanSF, Ion Newcombe, aka "Nuke".
Ion selects the best in speculative (science fiction, fantasy, horror) flash fiction for these shows, with stories often narrated by the authors themselves.
The latest episode, "Amphimacus", aired on November 1 and includes my sonnet, "The Sea Will Have", narrated by Marg Essex. "The Sea Will Have" was first published in AntipodeanSF issue #257 in February.
"Amphimacus" also includes work by JT Velikovsky, Geraldine Borella and George Nikolopoulos.

Ebook giveaway of Thylacines
The Horror Tree is giving away TEN ebook copies of my bio-horror novella, Thylacines (Severed Press), which was nominated for the Australian Shadows “Paul Haines Award for Long Fiction”. Entries close 30 October.
https://horrortree.com/our-october-20...
The back-cover blurb for Thylacines reads:
The Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine, was hunted to extinction some eighty years ago. Now, Professor Rosie Giuliani and her staff at The Resurrection Lab have done the impossible: created a living, breathing litter from a preserved specimen. Yet Rosie can’t share this scientific breakthrough with the world. The cloned animals are more like monsters than thylacines. By chance, a small band of activists hears about the caged litter, and their decision to free the tigers will unleash a deadly havoc upon the campus of Fraser University.

Christine Morgan's review of Body Farm Z
Acclaimed horror author Christine Morgan gives my zombie novel, Body Farm Z, a great review.
In part, she writes, "I know I’ve harped on this before, but I’m going to again – as long as clever authors continue to come up with fun twists and surprising takes and serve me up something I haven’t seen before, then NO, the zombie apocalypse is NOT played out. Sure, some (maybe too many) are samey-samey, but the ones that stand out make it all worthwhile. Body Farm Z definitely stands out... It’s gory, it’s funny, it’s a genuine treat!"
