Happy 2016!
I don't know if you guys have heard, but it's the holiday season, which generally means it's after July 4 and before, you know, July 4. So please, celebrate safely and happily whatever you choose to celebrate, or sit home and don't celebrate anything, but do so safely and happily!
Next year we'll have a lot to talk about, and I'll be trying (once again) to be in touch with you more often. I'm not promising anything because this is the Internet and it's traceable, but I will try.
Happy 2016, everybody, and thanks for being so loyal and kind with your comments via email and below. It's appreciated, every single time.
E.J.

Not Happy About This One...
This week's post at HEY THERE'S A DEAD GUY IN THE LIVING ROOM is not one I wanted to write, but it was forced upon me. We say adieu (that means we might see each other again, no?) to a great friend and integral part of the Haunted Guesthouse series. And we offer some heartfelt appreciation: HEY DEAD GUY

Major Announcements!
Yes, we know it's Memorial Day, but no, "Major Announcements" doesn't mean news from the rank above Captain. We're talking about lots and lots of news about the Haunted Guesthouse series, the Asperger's Mystery series and more! But no need to blather on about it here (although I might later on): You can find out about it at HEY, THERE'S A DEAD GUY IN THE LIVING ROOM, the blog that gives you crime fiction from idea to bookshelf.
Here's the link!
Let us know what you think! Comment here or at DEAD GUY! And a sincere thanks to all!

New Series!
Yes, now it can be told: My agent has been working hard, and now a third (!) series, about a talent agent for animals who gets embroiled in investigating crimes, will be coming from Thomas Dunne Books in 2016 (I think)!
I can't tell you much right at the moment--mostly because I don't know that much--but there will be at least two books in the new series, and I'm in the middle of the first one right now. I think it's going to be a lot of fun, and I promise I'll let you know more as soon as I can.

Here's the itinerary (so far) of the blog tour:
Gotta Write Network on Monday, December 1;
The Qwillery on Tuesday, December 2 (and a chance to win a copy of the book);
Lori's Reading Corner on Wednesday, December 3 (giveaway);
Marie's Cozy Corner on Tuesday, December 9 (giveaway);
Stuff and Nonsense on Wednesday, December 10 (giveaway);
Debbie's Book Bag on Friday, December 12 (giveaway);
Fresh Fiction on Tuesday, December 16;
Dru's Book Musings on Thursday, December 25 (although you might have other plans that day--but there will be a giveaway!).
More info as it becomes available. I hope to see you on the book tour, or read your comments on the virtual tour!

Road Trip!
INSPECTOR SPECTER, the sixth Haunted Guesthouse mystery, will be published on Tuesday December 2. After that we're going on the road! And here's how it'll go:
Monday, December 8: Aunt Agatha's in Ann Arbor, MITuesday, December 9: Murder by the Book in Houston, TXWednesday, December 10: The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, AZThursday, December 11 and Friday, December 12: I'm on the road. Literally. Plans are to fly to San Francisco and then make my way via Los Angeles to:Saturday, December 13: Mysterious Galaxy's holiday party in San Diego, CA.
So, four bookstores in four cities in six days. And if you work for a bookstore between San Francisco and San Diego and would like to discuss an event, get in touch (if you're available on Dec. 11 or 12)!
If you're in one of those areas and would like to say hi, please come on out! Keep in mind that I'm probably coming from a lot farther away than you are! And it's the readers and the booksellers who make these events special. So I'm hoping to see you there. Wherever "there" is.

Thanks to all MISSING HEAD CHALLENGErs!
It's been just about a month (a little less) since the beginning of the MISSING HEAD CHALLENGE and we're so grateful to our readers! Thanks to you, $1000 has been donated to the Autism SPectrum Education Network (ASPEN). We so appreciate the response!
Remember: You post a picture of yourself with a copy of THE QUESTION OF THE MISSING HEAD, somewhere (Facebook, Twitter) we're sure to see it. Your contribution (not monetary) is noted, and $10 is donated in your name to ASPEN. While the Challenge is officially over, you can still post!
Thanks to HSG Agency, Midnight Ink Publishing and Twice Told Tales/Moonstone Bookshop (Flemington, NJ) for matching our donations. We're really very touched and proud.
