Groping for the next idea
Spending Day Two in that annoying space where you've got the start of an idea for the next story, but it won't come clear enough for you to start writing.
It's partly my own fault. See, here's the default template for a horror short story.
1. Here's a guy.
2. A bad thing happens to him.
I've written a number of those. I imagine most horror writers have, and there are many good stories that unfold just like that.
But I sometimes have the urge to write one that doesn't follow the template. And you make life harder for yourself when you try to go off that well-beaten path.

A new eBook edition of DEAD TIME is available
There's a new eBook edition of my horror novel DEAD TIME out from the fine people at Crossroad Press. It's already available on Amazon and will be listed at Barnes & Noble, iTunes, and all the usual suspects in the very near future.
DEAD TIME combines the thrills and chills of supernatural horror with the twisty logic of classic time travel stories. The hero faces malevolent spirits and also has to worry about creating paradoxes, altering his own past, erasing himself from existence, and all that kind of thing.
Here's a link to the book on Amazon:
