Two Deer Staring into My Headlights … by Delsora Lowe
Spooky?Yes! Prophetic? Maybe!Drivinghome, up Route One around 8 p.m., two deer walked right out in front of me…andstopped. Another vehicle was a few car lanes ahead of me, and no one was comingin the opposite direction. That vehicle was oblivious to my visitors emergingfrom the darkness. As, was I. Until the deer stood right in front of me andstared. DEER – Photo or ImageItwas

Small Town Contemporary Romance with Mary Vine
I'd like to introduce you to Mary Vine. She and I go back a decade at least. That's when we collaborated on a booth at a Flea Market to sell our books. We have been doing it for ten years now. While she dabbles in several different genres she was first published in contemporary romance. Paty: Why do you write Small Town Contemporary Romance?Mary: I read

Airport Kindness
by Diana McCollum A while back I was flying from Bend OR to Sacramento, CA. From Bend to Portland OR passengers were asked to put their carry on luggage on a baggage cart as the smaller jet didn't have overhead compartments. So easy, peasy.Arriving in Portland I picked up my bag from the baggage distribution center, and proceeded to go to the next gate. I had to go

The Kindness of Strangers, and Ourselves by Lynn Lovegreen
Thanks to old Covid habits and retirement, I don’t get out as often as I used to. My main haunts outside my house are the grocery store, the gym, the library, and the post office. (Yes, I still use snail mail!) But even with my limited activity, I still see the kindness of strangers on a regular basis. It’s common in my town for people to acknowledge each other, usually with a smile

Time To Take A Risk
You can't imagine how often, especially over the past year, I have felt almost overwhelmed by the urge to write about politics. Today, just this once, I'm giving in to that urge. A few years ago I wrote Unlawful Orders, a biography about an American, a soldier, faced with an illegal order from his commanding officer. Obeying that order would be safe. It would also be wrong.

A Bygone Era when Kindness was a Default by Eleri Grace
My immediate thought on learning of this month's theme was to spotlight an organization I've always intended to become involved in - Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK). But as I've never had the time to volunteer myself, it seemed like an odd choice for this month's blog. I will give it a brief shout-out here before moving on. RAOGK allows individuals to request a genealogical record

My Kindness of Strangers Experience
By Robin WeaverDuring my years as a military dependent, I had the extreme goodfortune to attend graduate classes with a group of pilots in Okinawa, Japan. Don’tget too excited—it wasn’t really like “Top Gun.” Sigh. But the guys were officers and gentlemenand our country can be proud. However, I was really fortunate because these classmates pilotedaircraft that permitted dependents to

An Angel gave wings to my writing by Paty Jager
The first RWA (Romance Writers of America) conference I went to was only two months after I'd signed up to be an RWA member. I'd received the magazine in the mail and saw there would be a conference with writing classes in Seattle WA. I showed it to my hubby and said, I wanted to go. He told me if I could come up with the money, he was fine with me going. I saved up the money and registered.
