Ebook Giveways for Settling the Score - A Novel

As usual whenever I have a new release, I like to offer a few chances for readers to win a copy. Three chances, in this case.

The first is currently being held by Chris at Stumbling Over Chaos. From now until Tuesday, March 8, leave a comment on the post and she'll pick a winner for an ebook copy.

Here's the link:

Say "Hi" to Chaos and Mayhem while you there, the real life inspirations for Tom I and Tom II in The Match Before Christmas.

The second contest will be held on the Torquere Press Livejournal on Saturday, March 5. I'll be hosting that day, so stop by and hang out with me. Each time a commenter posts, they'll get an entry into the drawing. A winner will be announced on Sunday.

Here the link, but remember that I won't be there until Saturday:

The third copy will be given away at Reviews by Jessewave.

Stumbling Over Chaos and Reviews by Jessewave both have giveaways by various authors and publishers on a regular basis, so they're great places to hang out.

Here's the link to Wave's:

Thanks to everyone who participated. The contest are now all closed. I hope the winners enjoy their prizes.

Rummage Sale at GLBT Bookshelf

The GLBT Bookshelf is holding their semi-annual fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting the site. There's quite a selection of work there this time.

If you've had my short story Tinsel and Frost on your TBR list, now is the time to buy. Not only is it offered as a discount, it's also out of circulation with the former publisher, and the GLBT Bookshelf rummage sale is the only place to find it.

Night Watch, a short sequel to The Telling, is also on the rummage table.

Someplace in this World, an anthology, contains a short side story to The Angel of Thirteenth Street, following rent boy Mark as he returns home.

With so many authors featured, you're sure to find a great bargain on a story you'll love. Check it out, and support the bookshelf. I know several titles have caught my eye.

Here's the link:

Happy shopping!

"Taking a Stray Home" in M/M Fiction

Naughty Boys in the Backseat posted an interesting topic today, "Taking Home a Stray," and how that theme is used in m/m fiction. The Angel of 13th Street was cited as an example.

Find out what they had to say on the subject here:

Publish Date for The Match Before Christmas Sequel

I have a publish date! Fanning the Flames, the sequel to The Match Before Christmas, is due out on May 7, from Torquere Press. Two months have passed since the first story. Barry is back and as bumbling as ever as he tries to navigate building a relationship without scaring his new love interest off.

And it's Valentine's Day...

Settling the Score - From Torquere Press on March 9

The blurb is not yet official, not having been blessed by my editor, but the cover is. I think it's absolutely fabulous, created by the awesome Skylar Sinclair, the talent behind the cover of The Match Before Christmas. Folks, I give you Settling the Score, due out March 9 from Torquere Press.

For closeted Georgia mechanic Joey Nichols, life is good. His boyfriend landed a major Hollywood role and is now well on the way to superstardom. Joey's bags are packed and soon he'll leave small town life behind to join the man of his dreams in California, where they can live out, proud, and together. Days before his planned departure, however, his lover not only outs Joey during a televised interview, but announces that they've broken up. Devastated, Joey attempts to pick up the pieces and face the bigotry of the locals alone.

Bestselling author Troy Steele knows all about having one's life turned upside down by a tabloid. Now he lives a reclusive existence, shunning Hollywood parties and the fame that comes with writing blockbuster movies. He spends most of his time exacting revenge on a former flame via his novels and hiding out in rural South Carolina, watching celebrity gossip shows at his assistant's urging. Joey's fifteen minutes of unwanted fame bears an eerie similarity to the plot of Troy's latest work in progress, Settling the Score. What if the jilted lover were transformed into everything the fickle ex wanted, as Troy's written for his book's hero, and secretly wishes for himself? Once polished, could a diamond-in-the-rough good ole boy confront the one who'd caused so much misery and then walk away? Those are burning questions for Troy, and he's counting on Joey for answers.

Writing Update

Fanning the Flames, a short story sequel (about 15,000 words) to The Match Before Christmas has been accepted at Torquere, and I'm waiting for a publish date, which I'll pass along as soon as I can. This story is for the readers, who asked for more.

In just a little over a month (March 9), Settling the Score, my latest full length novel, will become available. Basically, it's a novel about writing a novel, with hot man-loving thrown in.

A short story (about 10,000 words) that sprang to life due to a post on Eyre's site, A Reader's Journey, has been accepted by Dreamspinner. As it's the first time I've submitted a story to Dreamspinner, I'm not really sure when I can expect it to publish. Highway Man is based on the lovely, haunting song, "Papa Was a Rodeo," by Magnetic Fields. The story isn't a sweet romance, and the happy ever after has yet to be seen, but once the story lodged in my head, it wrote itself very quickly.

You can see the video over at my blog:

http://www.edenwinters.com/2011/02/wr...

When Eyre posted that clip on her site, saying, "I wish I could write a story for that song," I was immediately attacked by the most vicious, relentless plot bunnies known to man. The characters locked me in my house until I wrote their story. Don't you love it/hate it when that happens?

Valentine Wish, a sequel to The Wish

With February fourteenth just around the corner, Valentine's stories hover on the horizon. Although I don't have a new one this year, for those of you who read The Wish, and were intrigued by Thierry, Anton, or both, there's a short story of featuring these two, called Valentine Wish.

Here's the blurb:

Anton Lewis left the streets and the gangs behind, remaking himself into an honest man. He has a steady job and an acquired family, but an empty bed. Anton’s Valentine’s and birthday wish is for a lover with some meat on his bones. He’s had his eye on the owner and chef of his favorite restaurant, but Anton has shied away from reaching out.

Chef Thierry Guillaume wants to be a lover, not a fighter, but love has been elusive and the fight has come to him. Pity the fool who attacks Thierry behind the restaurant, because Anton has forgotten nothing of his street smarts and is more than ready to rush to Thierry's aide, just in time for a Valentine's surprise.

A Sequel for The Match Before Christmas

When I wrote The Match Before Christmas, I intended it as a one time visit into the world of Barry Richards and Adam Collins. Then, readers began commenting that they'd like to know more about these two.

Fanning the Flames, at approximately 13,000 words, has just been submitted for publication. Although it couldn't possibly make a pre-Valentine's Day date, it does center around that holiday. And as bumbling as Barry is trying to meet a man, can you just imagine him fumbling his way through gift selection in keeping with Adam's "let's take it slow" policy? Poor Barry, I brought him back only to torture him some more.

I'll keep you posted on the progress of this story and tentative publish date, if accepted.

Love for The Wish, The Angel of Thirteenth Street, The Match Before Christmas, and The Telling

The new year rang in on a happy note for me. Two book review sites have listed reviewer's top picks of the year, and The Angel of Thirteenth Street, The Match Before Christmas, The Wish, and The Telling all found ways into their hearts.

The Match Before Christmas received awesome reviews from Cryselle's Craziness, ReviewsbyJessewave, Michele 'N Jeff Reviews, Stumbling Over Chaos, and Brief Encounters, and The Angel of Thirteenth Street got some love from Elisa Rolle last week. What a way to end the year!

I'm thrilled, especially to have my stories keeping such great company, but also scared that my next book won't measure up. Here's hoping for a great literary 2011.
